Palace Tour
Jongderella
"Are you some kind of a famous servant here?" I asked Myungsoo when we rested under a big oakwood tree just a few meters away from the castle.
He had toured me around the castle and showed me a lot of wonderful rooms.
It was fun and all but there was one thing that bothered me. Everywhere we went, people would always acknowledge him and even bow at him. He would just smile at them and let them continue their work. He was greeted warmly, while I, on the other hand, was given curios looks.
So when we finally got to rest, I decided to ask him.
He laughed, before saying "hmmm.. I guess I am."
"What made you famous?" I asked, curious.
"Hmmmm." He thought for a while. "My good looks?"
This time I was the one who laughed.
"That's a good one." I told him.
"Don't you think so?" He suddenly turned serious.
I think I insulted him with my laugh. Is he really famous because of his good looks?
"I'm sorry! I didn't mean to offend you. I thought you were joking." I told him seriously.
"Don't you really think I'm handsome?" He asked me again, seriously.
I looked at him as he faced me eagerly and I noticed his eyebrows knitted together in anticipation of my answer.
"Well, I think you are. Your eyes are very attractive, your skin is smooth, you have a cute nose, you have a sweet smile. So, yeah, I think you're handsome." I answered sincerely.
And with that, he smiled. He really has a sweet smile. And don't get me started with that dimple. It took all my strength to resist the urge of poking it with my finger.
He was looking at me but I think his mind is elsewhere. If I didn't know any better, I'd say he is daydreaming.
I realized we were out for so long already when the sun began to set.
The bright sky turned orange and it occurred to me that it has been a while, since I've seen the sun set. I've always been so busy with household chores that I don't notice the day turning into night.
"It's so beautiful." I muttered as I was awed by the magnificent view.
"Yes. Indeed." Myungsoo agreed.
I glanced at him and saw that he wasn't looking at the sunset at all. He was still facing me and still looking at me.
"You're freaking me out." I blurted. Great. Way to ruin the moment, Sungjong.
"I, I didn't mean to.. I'm sorry." Myungsoo said, flustered.
"I think we should go back to the palace. We haven't finished cleaning the prince' room yet." I said.
Before I could leave, Myungsoo held me by the wrist.
"Sungjong, wait. I want to ask you something."
I stopped, not only because I was curious, but also because he was holding me.
"What is it?"
"Are you going to the ball? I really would like you to be there."
I became sad after he asked me the question.
"I want to, but I don't have anything to wear for the occasion. So I guess, I'm just going to stay at home during the prince' birthday."
"Is that the only problem?"
This time, I rolled my eyes at his question.
"Well, duh. For a lady, that's the biggest problem."
Myungsoo smiled at me. I think he was amused that I answered him like that. "You really are a unique person, Sungjong. I like you."
I blushed at his compliment. I was going to say thank you, but instead I said, "Yes I am. I am rare. You can't find anybody else like me."
Myungsoo grinned.
"Come on. We don't want the prince to be welcomed by a dirty room, do we?" I said and started walking away.
"Don't worry. The prince won't mind." Myungsoo said as he tried to catch up with me.
" How do you know? Are you close to him?"
"A lot closer than you think."
