Today. Today is the day I free myself. The girl curled into a ball, tucking herself into the corner of the small dark room. She’d grown accustomed to it. The darkness. At first it had been frightening. A constant pressure at the back of her mind that hounded her at every waking moment. She would see the monsters that lurked on the dark walls. They told her they were demons. That they were evil and only if she was pure would they stay away. They were lying though. They didn’t think that demons could infiltrate their base. The hunters didn’t know much of the demons they hunted. Didn’t know the different types of demons. She knew though. She had listened to the shadowy figures as they spoke amongst themselves. She remembered the day the youngest had turned to her mid conversation. He’d looked straight at her and asked if she trusted them yet. They had been friends since then. The shadow demons gave her comfort. Gave her hope. They spoke of a day that she would finally be free. A day where she could flourish in the light. She longed for the day she would feel the sun upon her skin. The youngest demons jumped up. “Todays the day!” He was the most cheerful, the one who always stayed with her in the darkness. The others would come and go, traveling through the shadows to other places. Places she had always wished she could go to. Now she could. “Will you come with me?” She whispered to the demons as they receded into the walls, abandoning their solid forms. “Always.” She smil
