Chapter 10
The Little Prince.
“Jong Woon, I can’t believe what I’m saying, but how much I would love to see you arriving late for the first time.”
“That would be the first order I won’t follow, your majesty, I need to be always in time to make sure everything is fine before you come out of your room.”
“But you must be tired of doing the same every day, I’ve told you to take a day off or something, even my parents agreed! Why you didn’t?”
“Because it’s not boring for me, protecting you is the reason I live for and I don’t get bored, I enjoy taking care of you, Prince.”
“Nonsense, it’s not fun at all!”
“I’m afraid I can’t explain to you, your majesty, but your gratefulness at the end of the day is all I need.”
A tear rolled down Ryeowook’s cheek when he remembered those words Jong Woon said one day, if they were true, why he didn’t do anything for him when his father ordered to do all of that, in that moment he really thought he wasn’t going to help him and was going to at least try to save him.
You’re being selfish, Ryeowook.
If he was in a similar situation, choosing between helping his family or helping Jong Woon he would have committed suicide because, damn, he wasn’t going to be capable of living if he hurt one of the sides. But not everyone was like that and the perception Jong Woon had about family after losing his mother was quite sensible, a part of him was telling him that he should understand that he needed to choose his father’s side.
I just hope I’m doing the right thing.
“Good morning young man, what can I do for you?” An old woman greeted him with a smile.
“Good morning, I would like to buy some antibiotics and alcohol.” He said, pulling the improvised scarf he made with his torn clothes closer to his face, hiding his mouth behind it.
“Sure thing, you should be more careful” She said, taking what he asked for from an old wooden box.
“Oh it’s just that my stupid friend fell down and made an ugly cut on his arm” He chuckled, meaning the stupid part with all his word and taking a gold ring from his pocket “I don’t have money to pay you… But I have this, my parents gave it to me when I was little, it had been in my family for so long.”
He was grateful the ring didn’t have something that revealed his identity as the Prince, but the story was completely true and although he saw the hesitation in the woman’s eyes, he managed to keep a calm expression on his face.
“That’s a lot, dear… These things don’t worth that ring.” She said, probably wondering how they could get something this expensive in such a poor place.
“It doesn’t matter” Ryeowook started, glancing around the old place “I’m sure you will find a good use to the rest and… my friend’s safety worth it.”
“I understand, God bless you young man.”
With a warm smile, Ryeowook left the place and started to walk back to the cabin where they were.
“If they’re not here we will look in the next town.”
A voice made his eyes widen and run to hide behind a big tree. Jong Woon’s father stood a few metres away from where he was, looking around the place while a whole bunch of other people he recognised stayed behind, looking around too.
“We will ask the villagers.” The man that treated him so bad and even hit him said, looking at his direction, making him fear he saw him.
“You know we can’t, if we ask for the prince they will ask why he’s not in the castle and that won’t be good, it will attract attention.” Ryeowook needed to cover his mouth to stop the sigh of relief from coming out while he continued listening.
“You’re right, then we will only look around and look in the houses.”
That left completely clear that they weren’t going to give up in looking for them, they were going to continue until he was under his clutches and Jong Woon was dead, probably.
Seeing the man moving away to look for him made him realise in how much danger Jong Woon was in and how he didn’t care for it when he took the decision of taking him out of that place, it said a lot of how much Jong Woon cared for him and how he regretted what he did.
But why I can’t forgive him that easily?
Sighing, he made sure no one was around again and started to make his way back to the cabin that thank god was well hidden from the main area of the village.
After checking no one followed him, Ryeowook was about to open
