"A Sudden Twist In Our Lives"

First Chapter

~Prince Charming?~

            “No, you are not fit to work here! Get out now!” the old lady cried out at me as she threw me out of her shop. Letting out a sigh in frustration, I threw my hands above me and walked around in hope of getting another job.

            Studying in college, paying for the tuitions, half of the rent and almost all the bills cost tons and I have to work more than 2 part time jobs in order to cover all the expenses. “Ah! That’s my 5th place already. Urgh!” I mumbled to myself as I ruffled my hair in frustration.

            I walked my way to the bus stop grumpily. Being young and watching your own family die in front of you is tragic isn’t it? For me as well it was the same. Due to a car accident I lost both my mom and dad, and mostly the brother who always saves me from my sister whenever we fight.

            “At this rate, I will be jobless and homeless and worse I’ll die on the streets.” I couldn’t help but think of the worst scenarios and mumbled off in my head. Living with my own sister is also known as sometimes hell and the other times heaven.

            Ever since I lost my job, she decided to do something productive known as half the rents and other expenses. I swear that was like the worst productive thing she ever did. Who am I, you ask? I’m Jung Somin known as Sara. Losing both my parents and my brother at a young age wasn’t easy for me.

            “Your phone is ringing weirdo.” Someone cried out causing me to be in full alert suddenly. I couldn’t help but glare at the person and picked up the phone. “Yes, Sara is not dead.” I cried out into the phone.

            “I know Sara isn’t dead. Yet. But I heard you lost your job from your sister. She was very pissed off yes.” It was no other than my best friend Hannah. She is from a very rich family. Her dad is the Korea’s parliament member and her mom is a formal head of Health ministry.

            Both of her parents work under the government and on top of that both of them are heads. Letting out a sigh, I ruffled my hair once again in anger.

            “Dear lord, why the hell is Jessica being a tattle tailing again!? Urgh! What do you want?” I cried out causing her to scream back at me.

            “Stop shouting and start listening bird brain!” she cried out in the most beautiful way anyone can ever do.

            “I’m listening and waiting.” I replied causing her to chuckle like a little girl. She must be with her boyfriend. Thank you so much for rubbing it on my face.

            “There is an empty slot as a waitress in my uncle’s hotel. It’s a 5 star one and I want you to work there, but make sure to be on your best behavior alright!” she cried out at me like she used to. I had to keep my phone 5 meters away in order to avoid my ears from getting deaf.  I don’t know why but during my 20 years with her as her best friend I’m sure I got deaf for god knows how much.

            I chuckled as I brought the phone close to my ears.

            “It’s not like I’m gonna deal drugs inside your uncle’s hotel dumb head.” I replied to her causing her to scoff.

            “As if you will. Listen, you need to be here tonight alright? I’m also gonna be working with you.” my best friend saying that to me was rare. My best friend? Working? At a hotel? You have got to be kidding me? There must be a catch to this.

            “Is something going on tonight at the hotel? Unless there is a hot guy you need to hit on you would definitely not visit the hotel. I know you very well.” I asked her causing her to slightly stutter which made me smirk to myself. I got her.

            “I just need to be there in order to stop you from making any kind of mistakes. Just be there on time would you?” she screamed out at me and just literally hung up on me. I chuckled to myself as I looked around.

            “Oh well, it’s gonna be a good day.” I mumbled to myself happily. Until the bus left me alone in the bus stop screaming. “Oh? HEY WAIT UP! !” I cursed out and screamed as I ran after it. Okay, maybe it won’t be a good day.

            “Hence my client was not involved in a one night stand on January 15th of 2015! I rest my case.” The opposing parties’ lawyer finally said it causing me to smirk slightly. Being a famous lawyer wasn’t an easy job.

            “I’m sorry, but as you were saying your client was not involved in a one night stand. Am I correct? No I’m wrong.” without waiting for an answer, I simply continued going on making my client to stare at me as if I committed a crime.

            I simply threw the envelop filled with evidence in front of the opposing party. The lawyer from the opposing party stared at me as he went through it with his client. I smirked at him. Bingo! He was involved in the one night stand from the beginning and I just threw the bait.

            “Hence, if you don’t want to take this case to the court as well as make it a huge problem and make it to the headlines of tomorrow morning, than I would prefer you to quietly transfer her hundred thousand dollars into her account before our next meeting.” I walked up to the opposing parties’ client and said to him softly making him stutter and to stand up and leave.

            “Before our next meeting which is scheduled for this Thursday I hope you would be able to come up with a decision. Till then.” With that I walked out of the conference room with my client. I smiled at her as I stopped in front of her where I saw her surprised face.

            “Since when did people call you the cold lawyer prince?” she asked me softly surprised causing me to simply smile at her. “Lawyer Kim, your ride is here.” My assistant walked up to me and said causing me to bow to my client and to smile at her.

            “I’ll see you on Thursday Miss.” I said to her and walked away from her without waiting for a reply from her. “How was it, sir?” my assistant asked me as soon as we walked into the car. I nodded my head as a reply which she caught from the rear mirror.

            “Assistant Jung, please report me everything about today.” I said to her causing her to nod her head. “Lauren and Leo had been quiet for the past few days. I have been wondering why as well but couldn’t figure it out. As the nanny said the kids have been doing well for the past few days.” She replied to me causing me to let out a sigh.

            “I don’t know what those little devils are up to right now.” I muttered and motioned her from my hand to continue going on and pretended to listen to it as I let my gaze off out of the car’s window. It’s been so long since she left me alone with those 2 little devils, but I’m fine with it.

            “Ah! I hate walking dogs.” I slumped onto a nearby bench as I tied up the dogs to the bench’s railings and let myself calm down. Surprisingly, I feel like these dogs know me well. As in can understand how I feel and all.
