I dislike it.. Whenever I'm telling my friends about a fanfic I'm reading, I like to copy the paragraph I'm talking about so that they can read it.. Lol that sounds really lame but yeah.. XD

Well, i have double feelings about this ^^ i think you should keep it cause it protects the authors from people who repost their stories without permission, however it you can't print them out to read them somewhere where there's no internet (believe me, i suffered on holiday ^^) C:
So i'd suggest to make a 'print button' of some kind, so you can print the story but the authors work is still protected cause you can't copy/ paste it :)

I mean that if text cannot be selected then they have to spend long hours at the internet cafes to read stories. That will cost them lots of money.

In some developing countries, people don't have internet at home.

Optional is good. Or, maybe the authors could select whether they want it selectable or not. If not, the viewers could ask for the permission or something like that ( even though it probably takes time because the author is probably not online all the time) . That way, if they are any plagiarism or problems like that, you could probably tell who did it.

I think it should be optional, since for example; I'm not english right? So if i don't know the meaning of the word or a whole sentence, i tend to copy it and translate it in google trans. or something.

I got used to highlighting text when reading.. Should be optional... although some might plagiarize stories... T_T

I too like to highlight my text. Part of it is due to my eyes - sometimes it hurts my eyes to read it black-on-white. Also, I know my readers like to copy-paste a specific part of my story in the comments, and then comment on how it moved or fecinated them. Or how it pissed them off. XD;; Yeah.

I think this feature should be optional.

I like highlighting text when I read, especially when I have to go pee or eat. It's easier to find where you stopped. It serves kinda like a bookmarking thing. :)

I don't spend much time on internet and if I see a good fan fiction I try to find a way to print it out and read it when I have time, but since the text is not selectable, I can't always do that. ._.

I like to use the copy and paste to leave comments, and I'm sorry if a story gets plagiarized, but not everyone wants to steal a story. Most of us are just trying to leave a good comment.

Especially when there's a lot of block texts, or especially large paragraphs, I get lost in the middle and I like to highlight to keep track of where I am. I also use it if I'm reading, have to leave and come back, as I highlight where I left off so I can get right back to where I was. I've missed being able to highlight, and I hope that you bring it back!

Some people actually like to like copy and paste the stories in word document and transfer to their phones to read when they are out since they don't have like phones with internet for easy access. So by having the non-highlighting system, they can't do that anymore. Just an opinion ^^

Maybe you can make it an option that each author can select if they chose to disable text selection. I agree, I like to mention specific lines when commenting, and it is difficult to try and re-write it.

It won't stop plagiarizing, but it will more or less stop copying (it is still possible to rewrite it, but not as easy)

I like copying and paste text if I am commenting on a chapter and there is a certain paragraph or line I want to mention, but to lazy to rewrite it.

I don't know if you'll actually read this, but here's an idea: How about making text selection available, but you just can't copy it?

Make it an option. It is the most convenient solution. Authors should have the option to make their fics with non-selectable text if they want to protect their stories. (For those fearing plagiarism.)

Enabling it promotes 'no plagiarizing' :)

i'll admit, it's better and safer to disable text-selection, but, it also makes it harder for readers to apply for apply stories especially if they're accustomed to just copying and pasting the form...

Keep it~ It's really annoying when people plagiarize AND if the person wanted to plagariaze, they should be smart enough to know how to copy the text~

TT__TT no,i've never post any of your story elsewhere..never will..i love reading all of your story,but i cant be online all the time TTT__TTT

i often make pdf formats of fics for me to read it offline. i really hope the text-selection will be back again.
