If my story consists of very gory bloody violence and some language do I have to mark it rated m?

You should. But you don't have to rate the whole entire thing M, just the chaps that contain extreme gore and harsh language. If the whole entire thing consists of these, then you should go ahead and mark it as M. (Though I highly doubt every chap. is filled with swearing and violence. :/)
