-Ten years ago-

“Sukideska?”  (Did you like it?)

Asked your grandmother in Japanese as she made her way towards you. With her favorite silver food tray.

You smiled lovingly up at your grandmother as your eyes shined even brighten than the sun.

“Hai! Domo arigato , sobo.” (Yes, i did. thank you so much Granny!)

Your grandmother grins pleased to know that you love the food she made for you once again.  She walks up to you, grabbing your empty plate, placing it onto if her silver tray before patting your head affectionately.

“Watashi no akachan wa hijō ni yoku tabemasu!” (My baby eats so well!)

She smiles down at you lovingly , as she softly caresses your thin, baby like face with her free hand. You can notice her eyes slowly glazing up, as her eyes endlessly travel down your face.  Before a soft, hurt filed smile spreads on her pink, wrinkly lips.

“Anata wa okāsan no yōnanode, ōku o mimasu…” (You look so much like your mother…)

You look up at her with tender eyes, as your small hand travels up. Softly placing it’s self onto of your grandmothers.  Right before you lean into her silken touch. You delicately gaze up at her as you can see a hint of sadness in her brown orbs.

You know how much she misses your mother. Both of you do. It hasn’t been that long since she passes away. Your grandmother says your the exact replica of your mother. Not only in the way  that you look but also in the way you act.

It constantly reminds you of the fact that she is no longer  with you guys.

“O bāchan wa, anata wa daijōbudesuka?” (Grandma, are you okay?)

She softly bites the inside of her already pink lip, before softly nodding down at you.  While softly rubbing your cheek in a adoring manner.

“Watashi wa daijōbudesu…”  (I’m okay…)

She lets out a small, almost unnoticeable sight before standing back up tall.  She clears before pulling her hand away from your face. Causing your small, slender hand to fall to your side. You stare up at her with worried orbs. She blinks her tears away before cleaning the last tear remains of damped, silky cheeks.  She cleans her hand on her apron before softly reaching out towards you. Lifting your chin, for you to look straight into her sad eyes.

“O bāchan wa daijōbudesu. Dakara asobi ni ikimasu” (Grandma is okay now. So go play, okay?)

You shake your head at her. Not believing one word that came out of causing her to frown at you.  Hey eyebrows snit together as her lips turn into a firm line while her forward creases slightly.

“Gyo Iseul!” she calls firmly while sternly eyeing you causing you to slightly squirm on your sit.

“Asobiniiku, watashi wa hontōni daijōbu! Shinpai teishi 〜”  (Go play. I’m really okay~)

You arch a brow, eying her for a few seconds before giving up. Your Grandmother will never givin, you might as well as she says.

“Fain, watashi wa purē ni ikimasu yo!”  (Fine, I’ll go play!)

A smile spreads on her lips in content as she softly pats your chin. Before turning around and walking into the kitchen. But not before you silently grumble behind her back. You look around the room, not really knowing what to do now  that you had finishes eating. Usually your grandmother made you pick up your room if it was messy or read, but you already had done that today. Now you really were bored. Nothing to do at all.

You look around the dinning you when you spot the window. You make your way towards the glass window, softly placing  your tiny hands on it. While looking out, when you notice the glass window is covered with small white little dots.

You blink, staring at it for a few seconds before you orbs widen in fascination.

“It’s the first snow!”

You state in Korean. Since your grandmother wasn’t around, you didn’t need to worry about speaking Japanese in order for her to understand you.

You giggle to yourself as your stare at the small, white snow flakes falling down, one by one. Slowly covering your lawn.

You let out a loud, exited giggle before and idea pops in your head. You race up towards your room where you make your way towards your big wooden wardrobe. Opening it before pulling out your favorite pink, warm sweater. Pulling it over your arm over your shoulder before, running your hand against the small rack of scarfs. Closing your eyes, while you let your hands feel the different textures and materials until you find the perfect one.

A smile smile spreads on your lips as you open your eyes, meeting with a pale caramel, woolen scarf. The last scarf  your mother knit for you before she passed away. You gaze at it, as all the memories come rushing back before pulling out of the rack, placing it around your neck.  After you make sure it’s properly wrapped around your neck you run towards your small, desk where you look through all the drawers before finally finding your favorite pair of mittens.

You pull them on before running out of your room towards the main door. Pulling out your pair of khaki ugg boots out of the small shoe cubical your grandmother bought. She liked to keep every tidy and in place. Which in cases like this med it easier for you to find things.

just as you’re putting on one of your ugg boots when your grandmother peaks out from the kitchen calling after you.

“Iseul-ah~!”

You snap your head towards where her voice is coming from, staring back at her with wide exited eyes. Causing her to scrunch her eyebrows together in puzzlement.

“ Dokoni ikimas ka?” (Where are you going? ) she curiously asks, giving you the feeling it might not go quite as you planned.

“Oh?” You point towards the window, causing her gaze to travel towards it. She stares at it for a few seconds before staring back at you as she cleans her hands on the green, damped cloth.

“Anata wa yuki no ue ni soto de ason suru tsumoridesu ka?”  (Are you going to play outside on the snow?)

You nod your head at her before rubbing your heads in a pleading manner as you pop out your bottom lip, while giving her your puppy eyes causing her to sight before nodding her head at you. Right before showing you off.

“Hai. Anata ga soto de asobu iku koto ga dekimasu. Tada kiwotsukete to tōku ni itte imasen.”

(Okay. you can go play outside. Just be careful and don't go far.)

She gives you a stern look, warning you that if you other wise there will be consequences.

“Hai!” (Okay!) You salute. Causing her to chuckle at your cuteness.

You nod your head enthusiastically before running towards her. Softly tackling her into a warm embrace, right before running towards the door again. Putting on your other ugg boot before putting your matching, pink winter beanie over you small head as you pull the door open. You turn towards your grandmother, waving at her while grinning before running out of the house.

Running out into the woods. Your house was located right next to one of the woods, but that didn’t frighten you. Being that you had grown up your whole life in the same house. There was nothing out there for you to fear. Or thats what you thought.

You run into the woods, following the small snow flack stream onto of the green grass. Happily skipping over it, while extending your hands out . Letting small flakes fall into your palms while a serene smile plays on your lips. You close your eyes, twirling around, while you become covered in snow flakes. Causing you to giggle happily when , suddenly you hear a sharp howl. Startling you to a stop. You stay motionless and silent as you wait to see if what you heard is actually true or just a creation of your imagination.

A few minutes pass before the sharp, immature howl is heard again, causing you to gasp. As you tremble in the spot. Frighten by what may be out there. You slowly turn around to run out of the woods when you hear a pained cry. Halting you to a stop, right before another pained cry is heart.

You stand still pondering on the thought of what to do when once again the cry is hear. The way it echoes around the silent winds fills your heart with pain. You have never heard such a cry for help that tugs on your heart strings as much as the one voicing it self right now.

With caution you, slowly make your way deeper into the woods , following the  troubled howls. Which lead you towards a small secluded area filled with even bigger trees than the ones you see when you enter the woods. They are taller and thicker, their leaves are brown and orange. Some of them even have holes in the middle of the tru
