For the most part, Yoongi’s life has been a tune he writes as he goes along, figuring out how and what kind of music he wants to make along the way. But this tune is one he knows well—there are no unexpected breaks or crescendos, no mistakes he has to go back and erase. He can simply fall into the familiar rhythm of his morning routine.

Or, at least, that’s how it was up until now.

Because just like that, it appears—an unexpected skip in the record that’s playing his internal soundtrack.

Yoongi walks into the café and there he is, standing behind the counter—a boy around Yoongi’s age with caramel hair and golden skin and he’s smiling like the mothering sun.

Yoongi momentarily wonders who the hell let this kid inside because he’s practically radiating sunshine and to Yoongi that screams ultraviolet emissions. For a brief moment Yoongi considers turning around and walking out, but by then the boy has already seen him and it’s too late.

“Good morning!” He calls out pleasantly and then he smiles, oh god he smiles, and it’s like Yoongi is seeing for the very first time. He smiles and it’s like looking at the sun, if it didn’t hurt to look at the sun. His smile is like the sun but his eyes are like moons, little crescent moons that crinkle around the edges. And his cheeks—it physically hurts to look at them. Are they shining? No, it has to be a trick of the light. And then there’s his lips, with the barest hint of a heart shape as they pull back to reveal the most perfect teeth Yoongi’s seen in his entire life.

And he hates it. Yoongi hates it.
