CHAPTER O1

Thursday, January 15, 2015 (12:00 AM)

It was an early and brisk winter morning when Seunghee had the genius idea to go visit her brother during his training time. She had been feeling kind of down during the day, and the only way to make her feel better was to annoy the hell out of Seungcheol's life. She also had the genius idea to kick Issy out of bed to go with her while she was busy dreaming about dumplings and boys. The younger one whined about her dreams being interrupted, but then again, Seunghee never gives a about people's opinions and just does whatever she pleases. As the 2 ladies were making their way towards the training rooms, Seunghee decided she wanted to prank her brother with a very interesting idea; it was to pull his pants down without being caught. How was she supposed to do that? With the help of her best friend of course!

''Ya Issy, what do you think about pulling a prank on Seungcheol?'' Seunghee questioned devilishly.

''Doesn't he suffer a lot already? Don't make the guys' life more difficult than it already is." Issy ruffled her long brown locks in thought.

Seunghee looked at Issy with an accusing glare before replying, ''Oh come on my friend! What happened to us being SeungSsy? You don’t remember all the good times we had? I helped you with your ty Korean while you helped me with my ty English. When you first came to Korea and we met? We had to communicate by friggen’ body language, weird drawings and Google translate. You’re going to bail on me now?''

"Okay let's do it, just don't get on your Seunghee Queen mode, please. And stop using random English words in your sentences! Your pronunciation is still off even after 2 years of Hansol and I teaching you." Grumbled Issy while she rolled her eyes.

"Well, Hansol's a ty teacher. He gets distracted more easily than me and he yells at me all the time! Even when I'm older..." Seunghee faked a look of hurt as she recalled Hansol's atrocious lessons. ''I wonder why I didn't choose Jisoo as an English teacher instead... Oh yeah, it’s because you already took him as a Korean teacher and knowing how much of a gentleman Jisoo was, he couldn’t back down.'' Seunghee gave Issy another one of her annoyed glares while the younger one just shrugged her shoulders. ''Ya snooze, ya lose'' Was her reply. Soon the 2 best friends managed to hash out the details of their prank and made a fool-proof plan.

The teenagers arrived to the training rooms not too long after that. They heard the loud music being played and caught a glimpse of the thirteen boys dancing their hearts out. They watched the scene from the crystal door, giggling a little bit at the thought of their prank. As the song came to an end, Seunghee opened the door.

"Guess who?~’’ Said Seunghee is a sing-songy voice as she entered the practice room, her usual steps being replaced by little hops and a qide smile (or smirk) plastered on her face. The thirteen boys groaned loudly, some vene banging their head to the closest thing they had, cursing their lives and Choi Seunghee. However, the girl just kept her smile. ''Yup, the answer I was craving for, thank you guys. And before you kick me out, Issy's out buying chicken for you, so if you want those stomachs full, then let me stay.'' The boys stopped their goraning, and Seunghee smile and sat on the floor, the rest of the boys sitting around the room.

Meanwhile, it was agreed upon by Issy and Seunghee that Issy will go and buy chicken for the guys to distract them while Seunghee does her plan (Seungcheol always went to the showers after practicing, and the showers were practically beside the room, so she just goes in, grabs Seungcheol's clothes and goes back to the practice room to wait for the bomb to explode). Of course, feeding 13 growing boys and 2 growing girls made Issy’s debit card cry and her insides cry. Choi Seunghee. You owe me so much money.

"So,why are you here?'' Asked Seungcheol with slight annoyance and hopelessness present in his voice as he looked at his sister.

"I just wanted to visit you guys, am I not allowed to do so?'' Seunghee pouted, but her mischievous tone was still present.

"No.'' Answered Seungcheol completely emotionless, and Seunghee’s pout grew.

"As much as I hate Seunghee’s presence, Issy’s bringing chicken. And I’m hungry.'' Argued Seungkwan back at his leader, and received some nods from the other hungry members (except Chan, who was way too scared to move and Seungcheol, for obvious reasons). Seunghee smiled and winked to her best friend, which made the younger boy cringe and make a nauseous face at her.

''Okay.'' Seungcheol sighed and looked at the ceiling. Seunghee smiled once again, feeling satisfied with her accomplishment (more like Seungkwan’s, but as it was mentioned earlier, Seunghee doesn’t give a about anything).

Seunghee felt her phone vibrating in the front pocket of her jeans. She grabbed her phone out and checked her messages, her bestfriend’s name glowing on the screen.

*I’m here. And you owe me money. Why is chicken so expensive? T_T*

Seunghee smirked devilishly as she texted Issy back.

*Stop complaining and get here. You got 14 hungry people waiting.*

Seunghee put her phone in her bag once again not minding about the vibrations that the phone was still emitting.

''Chicken will be here in no time.'' Seunghee announces, clapping her hands and her smirk was growing wider.

''As much as I want to ask about Issy, your smirk is traumatizing me right now, so spill what you’re up to.'' Hansol spoke quite aggressively, his gaze fixed at Seunghee’s eyes.

''Do you think I could go that low?'' Seunghee feigned offense.

''Yes.'' Answered Hansol flatly.

''Oh come on, I just wanted to visit you guys and bring you some food since you’re all tired and hungry and such.'' Seunghee spoke in her pouty voice. Hansol knew something was up but before he could ask, the door opened and the aroma of freshly deep fried chicken wafted into the room before Issy stepped in; a tired smile on her face.

''Hey, sorry I was late. Seunghee thought it would be a great idea to get chicken and coke but she made me go and buy it. By the way,'' Issy turned towards Seunghee with a glare. ''You owe me ₩352 500.''

''Yeah, yeah, I’ll pay you later. Now get that out, we’re all hungry.'' Seunghee ignored Issy’s rolling of eyes and sat on the floor, Issy taking her place beside the older girl. The boys gathered around them in a circle, looking like they starved for at least 3 days. Somehow, Hansol and Minghao ended up on either side of Issy while the only open space for Chan was beside Seunghee and everyone could see on his face how petrified he was. While Issy distracted the guys by chit chat and food, Seunghee decided it would be the perfect time to slip into the showers and grab Seungcheol’s pants and boxers before he finished up. Seunghee saved the clothes in her bag, containing the giggles as she entered in her ninja mode (extremely difficult though, Seungcheol was singing Girl's Day's Darling like his life depended on it). She came back with the other 13 people and left her bag at one corner of the practice room.

She took her seat at the floor once again and reached her hand to grab a piece of chicken, and started eating happily, keeping the stupid wide smirk on her face that creeped everyone out (specially Chan. The poor kid was at the verge of having a panic attack).

''Did you do it?'' Asked Issy when she noticed the smirk on Seunghee’s face.

''Yup.'' Seunghee smiled, and Issy laughed quietly, but it still sounded rather devilish.

''Seriously, what are you guys up to?'' Wonwoo decided to voice out the question that all the boys had in their minds.

''Don’t talk with your mouth full.'' Seunghee scolded him and threw a napkin at him, but the napkin didn’t finish its way to Wonwoo, obviously. The other boy was at the other side of the room, how do you expect a napkin reaching to said direction?

''Wonwoo’s right, though. What are you guys planning?'' Jihoon looked at both Seunghee and Issy accusingly.

''Nothing…just wait!'' The sound of the showers stopped and Seunghee’s smile grew even wider. ''One...'' She held her index finger up and gained even more confused looks. ''Two.. Three.'' She held three fingers up, and the bomb finally exploded in the sweetest sound that could ever exist for Seunghee’s ears; the screams of anger from her brother.

''YAH! WHO TOOK MY PANTS AWAY?!'' Seungcheol’s yell was heard in the practice room, and maybe, just maybe, the rest of the company. Seunghee bursted out laughing, clapping her hands like a retarded seal as she fell to the floor, kicking random places in the air. Luckily, she wasn’t the only one laughing her heart off, and the other teenagers present in the room were clutching onto their stomachs while laughing, some were even crying. ''YAH! SERIOUSLY! WHO HAS THEM?'' The leader’s pleas were responded with even more laughter, and Seungcheol just wanted to die right there and now.

''It wasn’t any of us!’’ Junghan was the only one to answer, being the angel he is, but his sentence came out shaky and his voice cracked at the end resulting from laughing too much.

''CHOI SEUNGHEE!''

''It wasn’t me, bro!'' Seunghee tried to deny her crime using her aegyo-filled voice, but failed terribly as her loud laugh was giving her away.

''I WILL GET YOU, SEUNGHEE! JUST WAIT!''

Chan’s hands were covering his eyes and the waver in his voice gave way to how he was actually feeling, ''We don’t want to see what you’re hiding hyung!'' Just then an angry Seungcheol enters the room with only a towel on his bottom half, an aura of murderous intent radiating off of him.''Choi Seunghee. You better tell me where you put my clothes before I expose everything about you.''

''What would you expose?'' Seunghee sent a challenging look to her brother, smirking just lightly. Seungcheol opened his mouth to say something, but closed it immediately. He did the same thing around 3 times, until he gave up and sighed, feeling defeated by the little brat that was looking at him. ''That’s what I thought, Cheolie~'' Seunghee smiled, faking sweetness, ''Now, what are the magic words?''

''Oh, come on, you made me say that 8 years ago-'' Seungcheol was interrupted by Seunghee’s killing glare and sharp words. ''What. Are. The. Magic. Words.'' She repeated slowly, her voice incredibly low and scary, sending shivers through Seungcheol’s spine. The older boy rolled his eyes.

''Oh dear princess Choi Seunghee, the oh-so-flawless and oh-so-majestic, the one who must be worshipped by every human being living on the earth, could you please give this poor peasant his pants?'' Seungcheol said his voice in an almost robotic voice, pretty much like the one Seunghee used when she spoke English. Seunghee smirked and laughed slightly, standing up and grabbing her bag, getting Seungcheol’s clothes out of it.

''Now, that wasn’t that difficult, right? Now go change before our innocent minds get tainted with your traumatizing existence. Hully up too.''

When everyone was gathered around in a circle chatting and eating chicken, Hansol noticed how strangely quiet his best friend was until he saw her playing with the red string on her left wrist. Pretty soon, everyone noticed how the 2nd maknae wasn’t participating in the lively chatter and they all exchanged looks between each other. Between eye contact and slight body language they decided that Hansol should be the one to ask.

''Hey, Issy, are you okay?'' Hansol looked at the absent minded girl with worried eyes.

''Yeah, I’m fine.'' Issy smiled, but everyone could sense that it was fake.

''Lim, if you don’t spill what’s going on your mind right now, I won’t pay you for the chicken that we’re eating right now.'' Seunghee spoke with filled with chicken (she was obviously covering with her hand, her manners are not that bad).

Issy stopped playing with the string and quietly gathered her thoughts before speaking, ''I just...feel a little homesick right now and worrying about debut. Sometimes I feel that I shouldn’t even debut because there are more trainees that have been here longer than I have plus I can’t even speak Korean well. The only thing keeping me going are you guys, Han Sung Soo ajussi and my family.'' She tugged on the string before continuing,''This string is the only memento that I keep on myself the whole time no matter what I’m doing. It’s already 2 years old. It pained my heart when I had to leave my family behind, it hurts when I train and it hurts when 4 of my best friends left. I miss Doyoon oppa, MingMing ge ge, Dongjin and Samuel. We were all supposed to debut together but they left and it still stings. I don’t feel confident at all and I have to fight back the urge to up and leave back to Canada.'' Tears threatened to leave her eyes after speaking her true feelings but she didn’t have the strength to hold them back. Hansol quickly grabbed her into his embrace and let her sob quietly into his shirt while Minghao rubbed her back in peaceful circles, both their eyes were glistening with tears as with all of the others. Hearing Issy’s feelings brought them back to their own tough days and their own feelings of homesickness, Seungkwan was already bawling by the time Issy finished. The whole atmosphere became somber, each person quietly pondering their thoughts.

Seunghee had remained quiet during her best friend's talk. In any other normal day, she would have been yelling and doing random dances to light up the dark mood, but then again, it wasn’t any normal day. She felt a tight knot in , and she clenched her fists tightly, her knuckles almost white. She sighed before she started pouring out her heart.

''I’ve been training for 6 years. 6 ing years. I’ve seen almost everyone from this company train and debut. I’m friends with practically everyone in the company. But obviously, Choi Seunghee, the company’s favorite child, always too young for everything. I was so close to debuting along Hello Venus, but hell no, Choi Seunghee was too young to debut. And what if I was young? Does young equal not talented? I always wanted to give up. I wanted to throw everything away. During those years, I felt even more lonely when NU’EST debuted, when Hello Venus debuted, when you guys started doing Seventeen TV. But obviously, I had to be happy. Because I’m the energizer and the moodmaker, right? Because I’m the company’s favorite, and everyone expects so much of me, and I’m afraid that I can’t reach those expectations. None of you have heard me talking about this before, just Issy and Seungcheol, and obviously, Jang Doyoon. But the ing idiot had to disappear. Without saying goodbye at least. I felt so lost. And I feel so lost. What am I even doing? Will I ever get to debut? Will we ever get to debut? It’s just...'' Seunghee had kept a good rhythm in her voice and she didn’t sound that shaky, but the emotions started overwhelming her, and she couldn’t help but to burst out sobbing. Not crying, but sobbing.

She was shaking so bad that even Chan got over his initial fear of her and brought her into his arms while quietly murmuring comforting words. Even though Seunghee was sobbing her eyes out she couldn't help but feel a tiny bit happy that her ultimate one true love was hugging her, I mean, Choi Seunghee is one of a kind. She was in dream land for awhile until she felt a cold gust of air where Chan was until a new pair of arms wrapped around her. Those arms belongs to her brother Choi Seungcheol who thought Chan was getting a bit too close to his sister and he also wanted some bonding time; but with that came an ending of sobbing and a whole lot of pushing.

''Yah! Why are you pushing me away?!'' Seungcheol tried to ignore the knot in his throat and tried to make his voice sound normal (failing, obviously).

''Chan was hugging me after like an eternity of knowing each other!'' Seunghee complained, pouting slightly, and Chan rolled his eyes. ''Also you didn’t even tell me that Doyoon was going and kept it to yourself you selfish bastard!’’ Her eyes started getting teary once again as she gave weak punches to her brother’s chest, muttering some senseless cursings. She stopped only until Seungcheol took advantage of her weak moment and hugged her once again, but this time Seunghee didn’t pull away, and she just cried lightly.

''’I didn’t know either. He just came one day and told us he was going to quit. You think you’re the only one who’s depressed?'' Seungcheol wanted to cry so bad, but he tried to be strong for his sister and he opted to give a tired sigh instead. Seunghee stayed in her brother’s arms for a while, trying to calm herself down. When he felt her shaking slowly start to stop, he decided it was his turn to share the thoughts he’s been keeping in since he started training.

''You know, I’ve been a trainee for 6 years now but you guys have never really known my true feelings or thoughts because as the oldest, I had to be strong for all of you. Back in the day the weight on my shoulders wasn’t that bad, because Doyoon was there. But these months have been so hard. I know you guys were all really close to Doyoon, excluding Minghao, but I’ll be selfish and say that I was the closest to him. I mean, we were born on really similar dates, he was basically like a brother to me. He was so caring and helpful every time I had a problem. I spent almost all my trainee life by his side. We went through the same hardship of being so close to debuting, but getting cut off. Giving up always seemed so tempting, but then again, Doyoon always told me that the time would come. How ironic, right? He was the one to leave. Guess he got tired of waiting.'' Seungcheol chuckled bitterly. ''But things happened the way they had to happen, and we should respect the decisions of everyone who left. Just because of one bump in the way we shouldn’t get discouraged. I know it hurts. I know it better than any of you, but life goes on, and we should do so too. Besides, we have to remember MingMing, Samuel and Dongjin too. They were supposed to be a part of us but they left to pursue their own dreams and Sammy is now happy in 1PUNCH, Dongjin is doing his own thing and MingMing is dancing his life away in China. I know deep down they support us as much as we support them so we have to cheer up to look forward to the future. Alright'' Seungcheol finished his confession/pep talk and slowly everyone started to nod their heads before Soonyoung had to pop up with a stupid question already tumbling out of his mouth,''Oh yeah, Issy, didn’t you and MingMing have a thing?'' Everyone turned to look at Soonyoung with a death glare, even the usually kind Wonwoo threw a chicken bone at him, but the oblivious, poor little sunshine was still innocently waiting for an answer. Minghao instantly perked up at hearing the word thing.

''Yah! Kwon Soonyoung!'' Seunghee yelled at him, her eyes still puffy, but everyone felt a bit relieved when they saw that she was back to her normal self.

''What?! What did I miss?!'' Soonyoung asked, feeling confused.

''You’re seriously the dumbest person I met in my 17 years of living on this planet.’’ Seunghee sighed exasperatedly. The whole room waited in awkward silence for the questionee to answer the questioner, chicken bones at the ready to throw if anyone said anything stupid. Issy extracted herself from Hansol’s hug and let go of a huge breath before answering.

''Yes it’s true. MingMing gege and I did have a thing but it wasn’t so serious that I couldn’t forgive him for leaving'' Minghao fidgeted nervously as he stared off into space, and suddenly his eyes thought that the floor was such an interesting sight that they remained fixed on it. His mind was flooded with so many thoughts that he didn’t even know how to voice them out in proper Korean, so keeping quiet seemed like a better idea this time around. He tried to ignore the slight annoyance that was gathering.

''Are you jealous, Minghao?’’ Soonyoung looked at the quiet boy amusingly, and face-palms could be heard all over the practice room.

''KWON SOONYOUNG!'' Seunghee and Seungcheol yelled simultaneously, looking at the dancer angrily.

''Why is everyone so rude to me?'' Soonyoung pouted, and Jihoon threw the biggest chicken bone he could find to just shut him up. The others joined in the action of throwing chicken bones at Soonyoung, even if the boy was whining endlessly and his voice sounded extremely pouty. After some minutes, everyone got tired of throwing bones at him (more like they were out of bones) and just dismissed Soonyoung. An awkward silence made itself present, until it was the one and only Soonyoung to break it once again. ''So… Are you jealous or not?''

''YAH!'' Jihoon finally lost it and yelled at Soonyoung, making the slightly older boy shiver in fear. Soonyoung made a motion of zipping his mouth and gave up in his quest for answers. A sigh escaped from Issy’s mouth before she could stop it and looked at Soonyoung straight in the eye,''Would you really like to know the full story Soonyoung oppa'' Before anyone could stop him or even throw Coke at his head the final verdict already left his lips, ''Yes.''

We're using the real names of the Seventeen members, so if you're not fully familiarized with such names yet (which I doubt, but just in case), S.Coups is Seungcheol, The8 is Minghao, Vernon is Hansol, Dino is Chan, Hoshi is Soonyoung, Joshua is Jisoo, Woozi is Jihoon, Dk is Seokmin, Jun is Junhui. Some exceptions can be Hoshi, Jun and Joshua.
Issy:  My thoughts are the same as Rainy's, but sometimes if we're really lazy or it's for events, we'll use the members' stage names to keep it real. Also, Seunghee's English a lot so don't mind all the random English in there. (She's still learning.) Have fun reading, keep applying and look out for Part 2! Oh and we promise Seunghee and Doyoon's past will be revealed some time in the future. (Their ship name is Dohee btw and MingMing + Issy = MingSsy #1)
