Countless hours were spent trying to create the perfect concoction to turn the innocent little bunny back to its normal self. For Jieun, there were many different elements and various combinations that made itself known, but despite that, the right combination was not easy to find; even with the help of scientists that had years and years of experience.

There were plenty of times when she wanted to give up, but just the image of how small and adorable the bunny had previously been seemed to have been enough to keep her going. Besides her friends, excluding Joon, no one else seemed to understand how a simple image could keep her determination going. Regardless of everyone else’s thoughts though, Jieun held onto that image.

“It’s done!” (JE) Jieun let out a relieved sigh as she happily smiled. Standing up straight, Jieun placed one hand on her waist as she raised the vial that held the antidote up to eye level. She wasn’t entirely certain if this concoction would truly work, but Jieun couldn’t help but feel that it would work.

“Really?! Let’s test it!” (J) Looking at Jessica, Jieun smiled as she gave a quick nod. Even though Jessica wasn’t completely in tune with what was happening, Jieun was still grateful for Jessica’s attempts to help. Though, now it was a matter of how they would be able to test it on the rabbit without anything going wrong.

Both girls turned to look at the rabbit as they thought on it for a moment. It was currently sleeping since it figured out a good while ago that it wasn’t going to be moving much due to its restraints, but that didn’t mean that its senses weren’t working. Every time someone approached the rabbit as it slumbered, its ears would twitch. If that certain someone just happened to be a little too close, then the rabbit practically sprung to life before lashing out at the poor person who was a bit too careless. Luckily, it only happened two or three times before everyone finally wised up about the situation.

Now, though, they were going to have to somehow approach the rabbit without sustaining any form of injury. They didn’t know what would happen if something sharp penetrated its skin. For all they knew, the rabbit’s skin was hard enough to break a syringe.

“So… um… who does it?” (J)

“You don’t... want to do it…?” (JE) Jieun looked at Jessica, hoping that she would be the one to do it. However, when Jessica shook her head, Jieun quickly felt a lump stuck in . Looking back at the rabbit, then down at the needle, she attempted to gather her courage as she looked back up at the rabbit and began slowly making her way over to the poor thing.

With each step she took, her heart only seemed to increase its strength and tempo almost to the point of threatening to burst from her chest. The second she was within the rabbit’s personal space, its ears immediately twitched and its head jerked in her direction, forcing Jieun to freeze in place. As the rabbit stared at her, she stared back into its piercingly threatening eyes. Fear coursed throughout her body and her knees felt like turning into gelatin at any moment. However, for whatever reason, the rabbit merely turned its head away before looking as if it had gone back to sleep. Any weight that had pressed down on Jieun was immediately lifted away as a mask of confusion took its place.

Regardless of the rabbit’s reasoning, Jieun took it as a sign of getting the job done as soon as possible. The rabbit will most likely lash out at her the second the needle makes contact, but she just needed to make sure that she was quick. Moving as carefully as possible, Jieun somehow managed to close the gap between her and the rabbit. She held her breath most of the time, her eyes constantly searching for any signs of uneasiness from the rabbit. Luckily for her, the rabbit seemed to not even care that she was there. With one last glance at the rabbit’s head, Jieun focused her attention on the body.

Now that she thought about it; where was she supposed to put the needle?

Any information on the rabbit’s anatomy, or any animal for that matter, was completely over her head. Jieun had tried it before, but the weird ability that she had stumbled over only seemed to be able to tell her what everything was composed of. So, with no other choice in the matter, Jieun raised the needle up to about shoulder height before stabbing the poor thing. The rabbit immediately began thrashing about in an attempt to defend itself, but Jieun had already injected the serum before getting knocked backwards by the rabbit. As the creature’s thrashing continued, Jieun quickly crawled backwards, her wide eyes glued on the rabbit’s form as she waited to see what would happen. Jieun hadn’t even realized that she had crawled to safety until she felt Jessica’s hands on her shoulder. Even then, she stayed on the ground, not wanting to miss even a second of what may happen.

Screeches that shouldn’t have even existed in the realm of the living echoed throughout the room and even possibly out onto the hallway. However, it all suddenly ceased, as the rabbit seemed to come to a complete standstill. Neither Jieun nor Jessica moved an inch, not knowing whether the rabbit was simply unconscious or if it had passed away. As seconds turned into minutes, one of them decided to break the silence. “I-Is it… dead…?” (J)

“I don’t know how t-” (JE) Her words were cut off as the rabbit’s size and shape began changing. Slowly, Jieun got to her feet as the rabbit shrunk, trying to get a better view of the rabbit. The second she was on her feet, both Jieun and Jessica began making their way over to the table, astonishment clear on their faces as the rabbit began to look more like its original form. Once at the table, the two stared at the little rabbit, unsure about whether it truly worked or if it was just some sort of hoax. “Let’s um… check if it’s alive.” (JE)

“How do we do that?” (J)

“The scientists…” (JE) Jieun shivered for a moment, feeling rather uncomfortable saying that word. She could have said researcher, but it wasn’t exactly the same from what she was told. Either way, at least these scientists weren’t doing experiments on her and her friends. “They told me that the cryston can see if things are alive.” (JE)

“Oh.” (J) Activating her cryston, Jieun waited for a moment as the cryston began scanning the rabbit. Through her holoscreen, Jieun could see the heart rate of the little rabbit. It was slowing down, but it hadn’t completely stopped altogether. She didn’t necessarily understand anything other than that, but her cryston did say that everything seemed to be normal.

“I think it’s alright… Um… I think we have to watch over it for a little bit now.” (JE)

“So we write down what we see?” (J) Jieun nodded, though she didn’t really know what they were supposed to be writing down at this point. They were just told to write down whatever seemed interesting and honestly, everything looked pretty interesting to both girls.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Are you ready?” (LJ)

“What am I supposed to say?” (JE)

“Just… say whatever you two found out.” (LJ) Jieunt nodded, though she did wish that Jessica were here too. Jessica was usually better at talking, especially when it came to explaining what was happening. Though, she did understand why she wasn’t here. Jessica had stayed up late for multiple days to watch over everything. She was even studying hard to try and understand what everything was just to keep up. Jieun had it easy since she could instantly see what everything was composed of and how to break it down, but she only knew these things to an extent. “Okay, come on. The secretary gave us the okay to go in.” (LJ)

Taking in a deep breath, like Joon told her to do multiple times that day, Jieun got up to her feet before following Joon towards the Mayor’s office. With their finds, this should get the Prince’s guards to leave the city. It should, also, help both the citizens and the animals within the mountain live peaceful lives. Jieun just hoped that everything worked out in the end.

Upon entering the Mayor’s office, Jieun immediately noticed the woman sitting behind a large wooden desk. Regardless of whatever this woman looked like, Jieun just couldn’t pull her gaze away from the woman’s sharp eyes. The woman’s eyes felt like they were drawing her in and it seemed to just practically stare into her soul. It was, well, creepy. Jieun didn’t necessarily like it, but she remained silent for the most part.

“Ah… Mayoress! We have uh… brought the antidote to fix your problem with the animals.” (LJ) Jieun looked at Joon for a brief second before turning her attention back towards the woman. She seemed to be thinking about something, but a smirk soon made an appearance as she adjusted her position.

“Is that so? Well, let’s see it.” (MZ) Joon looked at Jieun, whom returned his stare with her own. He gave a nod and a comforting smile before motioning his head for her to go forward. With a small nod, Jieun looked back at the woman before hesitantly making her way over to her desk. Once she was right next to it, Jieun opened the bag that she currently had with her before taking out a few things and lining them up one by one in front of the Mayoress. When she was done, Jieun took a step back before looking to see what the woman’s reaction may be.

The Mayoress took a moment to examine the items placed on her desk. There were pictures showing what happened before and after the experiment as well as a stack of what she assumed were reports. She nodded here and there as she examined each item before giving a small hum of approval. Looking up at Joon, then at Jieun, the woman smiled as she leaned back in her seat. “Excellent work. I’ll have the scientists work on recreating the antidote.” (MZ)

“And our agreement?” (LJ)

“Don’t worry. You have this city’s full cooperation.” (MZ) Getting up from her seat while pushing her chair back, the Mayoress made her way around her table and towards one of the bookshelves. She grabbed something off one of the shelves before walking over to Joon and holding it out to him. “Give this to your leader. He’ll know what it is. Tell him that it’s from Minzy.” (MZ)

“Minzy?” (LJ)

“My name. Him and I go back a while. Now, you may leave. I have some work to tend to.” (MZ) As she made her way back to her table, Joon took a moment to look at what he had been handed. It was merely a badge or a brooch of sorts. The item didn’t seem to be anything important, but he knew that he couldn’t lose it. If it truly was important, then he definitely had to get this to Byunghee.

“Okay, Jieun. Let’s go.” (LJ) While Joon began walking, Jieun hesitated for a moment as she looked back at the items she had placed on Minzy’s desk. She wasn’t sure if she was supposed to leave it there or not, but since no one said anything, she decided that maybe it would be okay to do so. With that in mind, Jieun quickly turned before fast walking after Joon.

Myungsoooo…! Let’s do something.” (DH)

“Like what?” (L)

“I dunno… Let’s do something fun.” (DH)

“… Like what?” (L) Daehyun folded his arms and leaned against the headboard of his bed as he tried to think. What was something fun that they could do without getting into trouble? Without Joon to tell them what was good and what was bad, they may end up doing something that they’re not supposed to do. “Let’s ask someone else then.” (L)

“Who?” (DH)

“Hey, Sungyeol! Let’s do something.” (L) Daehyun immediately looked over at Sungyeol, whom was staring at both of them. He didn’t exactly know how to respond since he didn’t know what this something entailed, but he was just as bored as they were. Plus, Joon did give them permission to go out as long as they didn’t attract the guards’ attention, so it should be fine.

“Okay…? What are we gonna do?” (S)

“I dunno. You think of something.” (L)

“Me?!” (S) The second Myungsoo nodded, Sungyeol let out slightly annoyed sigh as he slouched in his seat. Why did he have to be the one to think of something to do? As he mumbled something to himself, Sungyeol looked out the window for a moment. Nothing really seemed to come to mind, but he did remember seeing something that caught his interest the other day. “What about the market? We never went to one before.” (S)

“The market? Like where we get food?” (DH)

“That doesn’t sound fun… It sounds like a job.” (L) Daehyun folded his arms, unsure of what to do. Food sounded like a really good idea, but jobs weren’t fun whatsoever. Maybe if they didn’t think about it as a job, then it should be fine if they went to the market. Before he could voice his idea though, the door to their room opened and Joon stuck his head out from behind the door.

“Hey! Get your things ready. We’re heading out soon.” (LJ)

“Out? Where?” (DH)

“We’re leaving for Kanum. Now get ready!” (LJ) Joon flashed a quick grin before disappearing behind the door. The three sat there for a moment, a bit disappointed that they weren’t able to have the fun that they wanted. However, Sungyeol was able to pull himself out of that disappointment as he stood up and made his way over to start packing his things. When he looked over at his friends, he noticed that they weren’t moving from their spot.

“What are you doing?” (S)

“… My stuff is ready.” (DH) Without saying a word, Myungsoo got up to his feet before quickly making his way to the bathroom. Sungyeol looked inside to see Myungsoo taking a bag from out of the bottom cabinet before stuffing things inside of it. “I’m hungry. Is there food?” (DH)

“Not here… I think.” (S) Daehyun let out a sigh as he turned his gaze towards the window. Maybe they’ll get a chance to eat before they leave. He just had to see what Joon had planned since he’s the one who wanted to leave right away. It’s not like they were in a hurry… were they?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

“Are we there yet?” (DH)

“No…” (LJ)

“Are we there yet?” (L)

“No…” (LJ)

“Are we-” (DH)

NO! We are NOT there yet! We haven’t even been on the road for more than twenty minutes! It’s going to take three days at the very least to get there, so shut up and just sit patiently!” (LJ) Daehyun shut his mouth tightly as he leaned back in his seat. He was just going to ask when they were going to eat since he hadn’t had the chance to eat before they left, but it was probably best to just stay quiet for the time being. Joon let out an annoyed sigh, but upon noticing the silence within the car, he couldn’t help but feel relieved. It was weird having to baby sit grown men and women, but what was he supposed to do? These people were apparently important, so he couldn’t question the need to protect and transport them. The only problem was that because of their little set back at Meindol, they were behind schedule now. So… Joon had to worry about getting scolded by Byunghee the second they got to Kanum.

“If it’ll take a few days to get to Kanum, how long will it be until we leave the mountains?” (J) Well, at least it wasn’t another ‘are we there yet’ question. He took a moment to think about how long it would take, considering the fact that they were only a little over half way out of the mountains.

“Maybe… two days at most?” (LJ)

“Two days?! You don’t have um… shortcuts?” (L)

“That was only for the first half of the mountain!” (LJ) There were a few shortcuts on this side of the mountains as well, but he couldn’t remember where those were. Of course, he wasn’t going to tell them that. He’d rather not have any more questions coming his way. Of course, that didn’t mean that he wasn’t mentally kicking himself for it. If he had remembered where those shortcuts were, it would have gotten them there much quicker.

There's quite intense in prologue and the third chapter, and I assumed that the whole story will be angsty as well, so I paused reading it for a little while. But after a while, I tried to have a little snippets on the fourth chapter and here we go!
I love it! I love how you bring them all into the cute, innocent, funny, adorable, and amazing adventure to the real world. I laughed and squealed when they keep asking about the common things that they haven't seen or touch before. Daehyun is so cute when he thought there were a huge people at the other side after seeing the large door, and sulking when he realized that only normal size people lived there. XD The fountain scene is funny and adorable too!
OMG, you're so brilliant to touch the simple little thing and makes everything looks so amazing, like I can see what the characters had seen. I can't wait for the next update, fighting!
