Every story starts with a ‘once upon a time’ or with the sentence ‘a long time ago’, but hers started with a small dot. A FREAKIN PERIOD! Why you ask? Well, probably because she forgot to hit ‘save changes’ on her laptop and everything got deleted. So here she is intensely looking at the screen before her getting almost hypnotized by the blinking vertical line. She tries to recall the words that entered her head last night but to no avail. This is what happens after a year of hiatus. Her memory was not serving its purpose. She was finally getting annoyed at the blinking line which was pressuring her to type a word, just a freakin word. She cursed her stupidity along with the electronic thing in front of her.   With a groan she finally gave up and went online instead. Saphiria Anderson, yes, that’s her name. If you see her on Facebook do add her. She’s quite friendly but lately she had been trying to avoid people. She opened her account and looked at the lower side of the page. She was offline. She changed her settings so that no one would find out when she’d be logged-in.   “Life is like ICE CREAM, enjoy it before it melts.”   She then clicked post and immediately logged-out. She didn’t dare to look at the people whom will comment nor was she intrigued on how many will like it. Before, she was so conscious of all the things she posted that she had to re-read every word a few times until she was contented with the structure. She was always eager to see how many cared to look at her posts and give her a thumbs up. But now, she was scared to find out. She was scared of people pitying her and treating her differently.   Her mind goes on wondering before this havoc ever started. She could still hear the screams, the cheers as students from the rival schools competed. She would look to left and see her two friends eagerly focused on the game. Then, she would avert her eyes in front and there she saw him. How her heart fluttered that day when he kicked the ball and went into the net, he raised his fist in triumph he just won them the game yet again. She saw him grin and look at their direction. Eyes focused on her as he gave a wink. She still felt the playful nudge from her right which made the lass look as her best friend whom , she shrugged and went back to look at him, only to find the lad intensely looking at her before he laughed and shook his head. How she felt her heart clutch. She thought it was normal. However, the pain was so intense that all of a sudden everything turned black. She felt herself falling forward before something stopped the said fall.   “Ria? Ria?” Her best friend called out but no matter what she did she couldn’t move. She remembered not being able to have the strength to even open her eyes.   “Oh my goodness! Eric! Your looks just killed Ria!” She wanted to laugh but she just couldn’t. Everything started to fade, starting from her sense of feel, she couldn’t feel her best friend’s hands supporting her anymore then the sound was gone. After that everything seemed to just skip. She heard sirens and then nothing again. She figured that they’d give this whole incident a big laugh once she woke up.   But it didn’t happen. When she opened her eyes that day everything was different. She saw a blurred image of a person. Blinking twice as she tried to adjust her vision. She noticed the thin woman and to her surprise it was her mom. She wasn’t sure but she did remember her mother still healthy that morning before she went to school.   “Mom?” Her raspy voice came. She still felt the pain from thinking that she swallowed nails. She saw her mom stopped peeling the apple that she was holding. Saphiria never saw her mom so lost except that day. She remembered her staying still looking at her for a few seconds before tears spilled from her eyes.   “Mommy, why are you crying?” She asked again. was still in pain.   “R-Ria?” Her mother called out to her. Her voice was filled with uncertainty.   Saphiria didn’t know what came over her mother nor did she know what to do with the situation. “SAPHIRIA!” She finally called before letting go of the apple and knife.   She felt her mom embraced her so tightly that day. “Mommy, what’s wrong?” Ria asked again after hearing her sobs.   “My baby, my baby.” Her mother repeated. “I thought I’d lost you.”   She could only absorb her words.
