YELLOW STICKY NOTES

Kyungsoo always had admirers. And why wouldn't he when he's always been such a sweet and caring individual? He was to kind for his own good really, but he enjoyed the attention he received from his classmates.

They would always approach him baring gifts. Many times it would be chocolates, which were his favorite. Sometimes homemade baked goods, other times it was letters full of sweet nothings as these people confessed their love for the doe eyed boy.

And rarely would they actually approach him to confess their undying love, considering he politely turned them away regretfully every time.

It wasn't that he didn't want anything to do with these people... They would plead for a date or actually expect him to become their new boyfriend from the confession, but he just simply wasn't interested in dating.

Of course he felt bad and would apologize many times for rejecting them, but what was he to do? He eventually wouldn't mind the thought of finding someone special. Someone to go to when he was feeling down or needed someone to talk too. Someone to cuddle with and whisper sweet nothing into each other's ears.

But really, he just wasn't looking for that right now. As much as he liked the idea, he was more focused on graduation.

He had to keep his perfect grades and graduate at the top of his class. He wouldn't let his education go to waste. Especially when he was asked to represent his graduating class as valedictorian.

He was ecstatic really, the fact that his teachers thought so highly of him was an honor in his eyes. Therefore, he couldn't allow room for distractions. His main focus was his schooling, and nothing would change that.

So he thought.

It was nearing the time that the bell would ring throughout the halls to signal the start of the school day. Students scurried and bustled around, hurrying to their lockers for last second pick ups and going to their classrooms. Kyungsoo was in no rush though as he strolled down the hall towards his locker.

He hummed softly, drumming his fingertips over the straps of his backpack as he clutched onto the material. He squinted his eyes and seized his humming when he noticed a yellow sticky note placed on the outside of his metal locker door.

As he approached his locker, he stood before the sticky note, glancing at the scribbled messy handwriting. He plucked it off the door of his locker and stared at it intently, reading the several sentences scrawled on the small piece of yellow paper.

'Something happened for the first time...
Deep inside, What a rush.

'Cause the possibility
That you would ever feel the same way about me...
It's just too much...'

His eyes widened as his brows furrowed together. He his lips, letting the words process in his brain. He recognized the lyrics all to well... They belonged to his all time favorite song. But why would someone write the specific lyrics on a sticky note and leave it for him? Did they even know his love for the song or was it just a coincidence? Was it maybe a confession?

He huffed out in annoyance at the anonymous note and stuffed it into his pocket. Kyungsoo quickly entered the code into his padlock and opened his locker swiftly. He grabbed several books for his classes, closed his locker shut, and rushed down the hall to his first period class. In the meantime, he would just ignore the strange note.

Kyungsoo stepped into the cafeteria and spotted his best friend with his earbuds in and mouthing the lyrics of whatever he was listening too. He rushed towards the table and plopped down across the table of his friend. He waved his hands sporadically in front of the other until he garnered his attention.

His friend jumped a little when he finally noticed the others presence. His eyes were wide in shock and he had a slight rosy tint to his cheeks. He pulled out his earbuds and quickly hid his phone away into his pocket. Kyungsoo's eyes lit up as he gave the other a wide grin.

"Hey, Jongin." His grin faltered, only to be replaced by a warm smile. Jongin returned the smile in a daze.

"Hey, Soo." Kyungsoo lifted his bag onto the table and huffed out in exhaustion. He let his bottom lip jut out into a pout and let his head fall into his hand. His cheek puffed out a bit by the pressure of his hand, making half of his face look similar to a chipmunk. Jongin couldn't help but find it cute.

"I'm so ready to go home and crash out." Kyungsoo groaned and rolled his eyes a bit. "I'm exhausted. Jongin, entertain me."

Jongin stared into the others hopeful eyes and cracked a small smile. He leaned forward and rested his elbows upon the table to support his weight. He spoke quietly like they were planning some secret undercover mission.

"And how should I do that, Soo?" His eyes sparkled mischievously as the side of his plump lips pulled up into an attractive smirk. Kyungsoo rolled his eyes at the suggestiveness of the question and waved his free hand uncaringly.

"Never mind you creep." Jongin sat up, regaining his former position and chuckled at the disgust that laced the others voice.

Kyungsoo suddenly sat up and shoved his hand into the pocket of his jacket. He ran his tongue across his upper teeth in concentration as he dug around for something specific. Jongin's eyebrows furrowed into confusion as he awaited whatever Kyungsoo was surely about to present to him. Kyungsoo's face noticeably brightened as he pulled out a slightly crumpled yellow piece of paper. He shoved it on to the table and pushed it towards Jongin with a grin.

"I got this interesting note today." Kyungsoo was to into his thoughts to notice the look of shock and discomfort pass across the others face. Jongin gave a nervous smile as he reached for the paper. He unfolded it and stared at the all to familiar scrawl upon bright yellow paper.

"Hm..." Kyungsoo tilted his head to the side and gave Jongin a confused expression.

"What is it, Jong?" Jongin clicked his tongue together and raised a brow, covering up the uneasy emotion in his face easily.

"This is... Interesting." He looked back at Kyungsoo, staring into his wide doe eyes. He his lips nervously, feeling his mouth go dry. "It's... A song... Right?" Kyungsoo smiled fondly and nodded his head.

"That's right." Jongin nodded silently. He still held the thin paper between his fingers as he nervously scratched the back of his neck. He let out an airy laugh then.

"Well isn't that sweet." He held the paper back out to the older male. Kyungsoo snorted and grabbed the paper, returning it back to his pocket.

"Yeah I guess you could say that." He shrugged and gave a weak smile. His smile grew wider as a thought crossed his mind. "You remembered, didn't you?" Jongin gave Kyungsoo a look of confusion.

"What?" Kyungsoo's grin faltered and was replaced by a sad smile. Jongin didn't seem to notice the crestfallen expression on his friend's face.

"Nothing, never mind."

Kyungsoo let out a heavy sigh as he fell back on to his twin sized bed. He sinked into the soft, plush bedding, reveling in the rapturous feeling that was cool cotton sheets. His breath evened out as he lay there, eyes drooping closed, and a blissful smile adorned soft features.

Suddenly he was pulled out of his euphoric high by the buzzing of his iPhone. He groaned in irritation as he stumbled to his feet and stomped to his abandoned bag in the corner of his room. He fished out his phone in irritation, about ready to snap at whoever dare to bother him.

He pressed the home button impatiently and glared daggers into the screen as it lit up. He saw one missed call from Jongin, and a text that followed suit. His irritation melted away as a smile formed on soft, plump lips. He slid his dainty index finger across the text message, allowing it to open his iMessage. It went straight to Jongin's message.

Jongin: Hey there, doe eyes. ;)

Kyungsoo snorted and rolled his eyes a bit. He made sure to flick the light switch off before he stumbled his way back to his bed and slipped under the covers. He wrapped himself up in his comforter like a cocoon. Then he stared intently at Jongin's message before replying.

Kyungsoo: Sup, hot stuff. (;

Kyungsoo giggled slightly. He smiled when he saw the three dots pop up that signaled Jongin was typing.

Jongin: Jeez Soo, you really needa stop hitting on me. It's getting kinda weird.

Kyungsoo laughed out loud that time, grinning widely. For some reason, Jongin always knew the right words to say to make Kyungsoo a giggling mess. He guessed it was normal for best friends, right?

Kyungsoo: If I recall correctly, you were the first one to do that.

He smirked at his reply.

Jongin: Hm...

Three dots. Nothing. Three dots. Nothing. Three dots again.

Jongin: Find anything else out about your secret admirer?

Kyungsoo jutted his bottom lip out into a pout and furrowed his brows together in disdain.

Kyungsoo: No... It's the strangest thing really. They seem to be using my weakness against me!

Jongin: Don't be ridiculous...

Kyungsoo: It's the truth! It has to be someone I know... How else would they know?

There it was again. The dots would repeatedly pop up and then disappear once more. Kyungsoo became confused and a bit agitated that Jongin wouldn't just send his message already.

Jongin: Know what?

He found himself frowning much to his own surprise.

Kyungsoo: The song, Jongin.

Jongin: What about it?

Kyungsoo let out a frustrating groan and felt like he could start ripping out his hair. Did Jongin not remember?

Kyungsoo: Hah... Never mind, Jong. Hey, I think It's about that time for some well needed sleep. You should get some rest too. Goodnight. :)

Jongin: ...

Kyungsoo let a small frown form again. Jongin was acting... Weird.

Jongin: Goodnight, Hyung.

He didn't bother to reply or confront the younger for acting so strangely. Instead, he connected his iPhone to its charger and set it on the nightstand beside his bed. Maybe Jongin would be fine tomorrow. Yes, Kyungsoo was sure of it. He'll be back to normal in no time.

The next day Kyungsoo came to school as happy as could be. He cracked a small smile once he reached his locker. There was another sticky note there. He stood in front of it, gaze intently staring at the piece of paper.

It seemed as if he was reliving the event from yesterday morning, like it hadn't even been touched. And the only sign he could tell he wasn't dreaming was that same messy scrawl but with different words this time.

He plucked the yellow sticky note off his locker like he did once before and read it with a smile on his face.

'Why do I keep running from the truth?
All I ever think about is you

You got me hypnotized
So mesmerized

And I've just got to know...'

He couldn't help but grin, the feeling of warmth pooled within his stomach. He couldn't figure out why the note had such an effect on him.

He nodded his head in approval, figuring he liked these notes. He tucked it into the pocket of his jacket and was back on track like the day before. It really did seem like déjà vu.

Jongin saw Kyungsoo approach their lunch spot with a wide grin adorning his soft features. He smiles when his friend sits across the table from him and pulls his bag onto the table to rest there.

"So I got another note today." Kyungsoo passed the note to Jongin, to excited to give his friend a greeting before presenting the note to him. Jongin grasped the paper with shaky hands, although Kyungsoo didn't seem to notice.

He unfolded the paper and stared at the scribbled letters in concentration. When he looked up, his gaze locked on Kyungsoo's who had been smiling at him ever since he sat down.

He began to feel uneasy and his body was starting to warm up from the uncomfortable stare. He quickly passed the note back to Kyungsoo.

"Do you have any idea who it is yet?"

Kyungsoo pouted and shook his head, receiving a frown from his younger friend. "Do you want to know?" Kyungsoo seemed taken back by the sudden question. He gaped at Jongin for a long while before he could answer the question.

"Well, I-" he closed his mouth into a straight line and furrowed his brows in confusion. "I... I'm not sure." Jongin's expression fell blank as he nodded.

"I see..." He quickly grabbed his bag from his side and flashed Kyungsoo a sad smile. Which Kyungsoo, once again, didn't catch on to. "I'll see you later, hyung. I have some things I need to do."

Kyungsoo stared in confusion as his friend gave a small smile and waved before he walked off and out of the cafeteria. He hadn't even had the time to process what was going on, let alone emit a reply.

Jongin was still acting weird.

Kyungsoo laid on his back against soft cushiony bedding. His eyes were fixed on the ceiling as he was deep in thought. He drummed his fingers against his flat stomach absentmindedly.

His brows furrowed in confusion as he frowned. He had noticed it. After his brief talk with his best friend during lunch period, the tall male had been avoiding him for the rest of the day. He couldn't understand why. He didn't know what he did. Nor did he know the cause of Jongin's odd behavior and rash actions.

His frown deepened. He thought of calling the dark haired boy but opted out since he had a feeling the call would be avoided as well. Then he thought of shooting him a text but felt like he wouldn't receive a response that way either.

Kyungsoo was extremely confused and had no idea what to do. Jongin never acted like this. He was usually so calm and carefree, not tense and gloomy like he had started to be.

Kyungsoo wanted to confront him, but what if Jongin kept avoiding him from now on? Even without an explanation, he had avoided Kyungsoo... What if it didn't stop? What if he was getting sick of Kyungsoo? Did his feelings change? Did Kyungsoo annoy him?

Kyungsoo couldn't bare the thought of losing his best friend. So it was settled. He let out a huff of frustration and nodded his head in certainty. He would confront Jongin tomorrow. He would corner him until he had no where to run away to and get it out of him.

One way or another, Kyungsoo would get his way.

This was only the third day that Kyungsoo received the anonymous yellow sticky note on his locker, but he grew to love them more and more with each passing day. And for some reason, todays note left his stomach warm and fuzzy and doing flips on the inside.

'Do you ever think
When you're all alone

All that we could be?
Where this thing could go?

Am I crazy or falling in love?
Is it real or just another crush?'

He bit his bottle lip and let out a small giggle. Then he saw a shadow hover over him and he quickly shoved the note against his chest in an attempt to hide it, his heart beating fast against his rib cage.

He darted his gaze behind him and saw Jongin hovering by his side, looking down at him in curiosity.

"Another note?" He gave Kyungsoo a soft smile, making the other melt, and his heart skip a beat. Why he felt that way over a simple smile that he saw on a daily bases, he didn't know.

"Y-yeah..." Kyungsoo locked gazes with Jongin, his own doe eyes wide in shock.

"What's it say?" Kyungsoo hesitated at first, but decided to show Jongin the note anyways. He raised it from his chest to Jongin. Jongin grasped the note firmly between his middle and index fingers.

He held it up and squinted his eyes slightly to read the messy handwriting. His brows furrowed together before he glanced at Kyungsoo with the note still held in front of his face. Kyungsoo felt as if he was panting and felt warm all over but couldn't figure out why. And honestly he felt annoyed by it and just wanted it to stop.

Jongin suddenly cracked an attractive smirk. He stepped forward, causing Kyungsoo to have to crane his neck to look up at the other with large eyes. Jongin kept his gaze locked with the other as he skillfully slid the note into Kyungsoo's pocket. He was so close that Kyungsoo could feel the warmth reverberate off of his lean body.

"Aren't you curious who it is, Soo?" Kyungsoo couldn't speak. He was no longer able to form coherent sentences. His voice was stuck in his throat, so he opted to nod instead. Jongin's smirk only grew.

"Maybe they're in love with you." Kyungsoo's breath hitched at the suggestion. Jongin seemed to move closer, if that were even possible.

"What do you think?"

"I- uhm..." Kyungsoo his lips and swallowed hard. As he opened his dry mouth in attempt to speak once more, the bell rang throughout the hallways, signaling the start of a new school day.

Jongin's smirk faltered and was replaced by a warm smile, his eyes showing an unknown emotion. He pulled away after patting his friend on the head lovingly and then walking off towards his first period class with his hands in his pockets. Kyungsoo's gaze lingered on the retreating form. He huffed out in relief.

Saved by the bell.

For some reason Kyungsoo felt scared to go sit at his usual lunch spot. His stomach was doing flips and he felt hot all over, especially in his face. He felt sick to his stomach. Literally.

He stumbled into the cafeteria and made his way towards Jongin reluctantly. He sat in his usual spot across from the younger and placed his bag on the table.

Jongin looked up from his phone lazily and gave Kyungsoo a tired smile. Kyungsoo returned the gesture nervously, rubbing the back of his neck out of habit.

"What's up, Soo?" Kyungsoo's doe eyes grew wide and he shook his head frantically, earning an amused look from the other.

"N-nothing really... How about you?" Jongin smirked slightly and shrugged his shoulders.

"Same, same." He rested his chin on his hand and locked gazes with Kyungsoo. The other felt uneasy from the stare. Jongin really hadn't been acting like himself. Kyungsoo was determined to figure out why.

"Jongin..." Jongin tilted his head to the side and hummed out in curiosity. "Is something wrong?" Jongin's lips set into a straight line as his brows furrowed.

"Why?" Kyungsoo bit his bottom lip before lowering his head.

"I thought something had been bothering you." He mumbled out his words and kept his gaze towards the floor.

"Why would you think that?" Kyungsoo's gaze lifted and locked onto curious dark brown orbs.

"It's just that you've been acting kind of strange lately..."

"Have I?" Kyungsoo nodded. Jongin looked off to the side, as if in deep thought and contemplating something important.

"Well..." His gaze shifted back towards his dark haired friend. "I'm sorry if I've seemed off lately." Kyungsoo didn't notice the strain in Jongin's sudden smile. He returned the gesture briefly.

They sat in silence for awhile until they fell back into their usual routine of random chit chat with the occasional giggle or laugh in between. "Kyungsoo." Jongin says after awhile, bell close to ringing as Kyungsoo stops fiddling with his bag to look at Jongin in question.

"Yes?" Jongin can hear the uncertainty in his voice. He cracks a genuine smile.

"I'm okay." Kyungsoo smiles back.

Kyungsoo walked towards his locker with a large smile. He snags the note off his locker in a swift movement and quickly reads the scrawls written. His eyes light up as his smile turns into a grin and there's that warm feeling forming in the pit of his stomach again.

'Has it ever crossed your mind...
When we're hanging,
Spending time... Are we just friends?
Or Is there more?'

Kyungsoo stops to think over the words for a moment. Usually he doesn't take the time to really think in depth as to the meaning behind the words. He just assumed that his admirer was writing out his favorite love song. But there was something off about this one...

Maybe, just maybe, even if it was just lyrics from a song, the admirer had their own secret meaning behind the words. That's what Kyungsoo wanted to believe anyways. And if that were the case...

Did that mean this was someone he usually hung out with? Someone that he saw regularly and talked to on a regular bases? Or was he just thinking to hard on it?

He was pulled out of his thoughts as the bell went off, causing him to groan. He quickly shoved the note into his pocket as he rushed down the now almost empty hallway.

"Jongin, could you please read the next part for us." The teacher glared at him with slight annoyance. Jongin was known not to pay attention. He had his own plans, and instead slept through most of his classes.

Or he was distracted and not listening to a word the teacher spoke like he was doing right now. Luckily he caught on to what he was asked.

"O-oh, right." He quickly stood and flipped several pages until he was to the right page. "These two beings, who had loved each other so exclusively, and with so touching a love, and who had lived so long for each other, were now suffering beside one another and through one another; without speaking of it, without harsh feeling, and smiling all the while." Jongin bowed and sat back down in his seat.

"Can someone tell me what the narrator was trying to show here?" The teacher walked several steps to his left, watching his students intently. "Anyone?"

Jongin's gaze drifted towards Kyungsoo, who sat a row over from Jongin's right and all the way at the front of the classroom. He bore holes into the back of Kyungsoo's head.

"Unrequited love." The teacher gave Jongin a surprised look and Kyungsoo's body visibly stiffened.

"Care to elaborate, Jongin?" The teacher gave him his full attention, seemingly interested in whatever the almost always quiet student had to say. Then there were eyes on Jongin, including Kyungsoo's.

Now he rememb

Reading this story again and think about how much fluff and sweetness this story has, and the angst of the sequel.
