Narrator’s POV

The 5 detectives surrounded the bed of the sleeping victim. 

“You know what he’s going to her,” Lizz, the black hair detective said as she looked pitifully at the still young female

“We can’t be so sure she really IS going to be okay boss,” Andy, one of the male detectives said as he slouched on the chair closest to the door. 

“She’s the fourth target,” Danielle murmured under the breath at the news no one wanted to admit 

“I hate that word, target. She’s not some animal he’s going to hunt, she’s an innocent 18 year-old girl who’s going to lose everything if we don’t find him this time,” Tim, the youngest of the detectives said as he stared at the same clock ticking as Shannon did earlier

“We can’t risk to lose the lives of more innocent people boss, we need to catch this son of a before he kills more people,” Andy spit in anger, tired that this psychopath was always 2 steps ahead of them 

Detective Vance let out a long sigh, rubbing his forehead out of frustration. 

“Andy, Lizz I need you to check the safety of all Shannon’s relatives and friends. Make sure no one else is missing and report back to me. Danielle and Tim I need you to get the CCTV of this hospital, check how he got in and out of this hospital with Kara. Check to see if you can catch his face or if he left anything behind that could help us track this guy down,” he ordered before the 4 of them separated immediately to complete the task that was given to them 

Detective Vance stayed behind, staring at the sleeping girl, reminded of the 3 previous victims before her. He stepped outside momentarily and called for the doctor to check on her condition, worried after the shock she received. He also made sure there was security guarding her doors in case the Assister came back, which he hardly believed would happen but did so out of precaution. 

He left the hospital with a heavy heart, heading towards the current headquarters his team set up at a local police station near Shannon’s school.
