SMS

There's a twinkling noise somewhere in the distance far, far away. It catches Jeongmin's attention at the edges of his unconscious, and he stirs, fingers grasping onto reality. The chime repeats and this time, Jeongmin groans. His hair is in disarray, eyes glued shut, and his body is tangled in thick blankets. His arms and legs flail in an attempt to unravel himself from the comfortable prison as his hands search for the phone he keeps under his pillow.  He unplugs it from the charger and cracks an eye open, typing in the passcode to enter his phone. He immediately clicks on the reason for the chime that disturbed his slumber — the Messages app — and reads the texts presented there:

Good morning! Rise and Shine Jeonggie! ;) <3 -Hyunseong

Have a wonderful day btw~~^^ -Hyunseong

Jeongmin splutters.
What the hell?
The small digits on the top of the screen read 6:21AM. The sun isn't even up yet. If roosters lived in Seoul, they wouldn't even be -a-doodle-doing right now.
Jeongmin takes a deep breath, inhaling and exhaling through his nostrils as mild vexation floods through his system. He had considered falling back asleep without replying. Instead, his fingers type a message back. He presses send, closes his eyes, and readies himself for the Sand Man to swoop in and sprinkle dust in his eyes when another thought occurs to him. He unlocks his phone once again and types and sends a further reply as an afterthought.

Hyunseong drops a pat of butter on the pan, watching as the heat causes the butter to melt and sizzle. Using a spatula, he spreads it to coat the entire pan. Then, he expertly cracks two eggs in (using one hand, thank you very much, because all those cooking classes had to pay off someday). He's waiting for the whites to set before flipping, when his phone dings. His heart jumps when he realizes it's a message from Jeongmin.

its not even seven yet off hyunseong -Jeongmin

Rather than feel dejected that Jeongmin swore at him, Hyunseong is trying to suppress laughter. As much as he loves Jeongmin, he also really likes to annoy him, knowing full well that Jeongmin is a night owl (which is precisely why he takes evening classes at the college they attend), and doesn't wake until it's well past lunchtime. He feels pretty accomplished knowing his job is done (for the day, at least), and done well.
There's another ding from his phone as he flips over the eggs and turns off the heat. He transfers the cooked eggs, sprinkling them with freshly ground pepper, sea salt, and chopped cilantro, onto a plate before he checks his phone. It's an another text:

love you -Jeongmin

This time, Hyunseong smiles widely, his heart feeling very warm and gushy like the eggs on his plate (he also hopes an analogy comparing his heart to cooked chicken eggs isn't weird). He considers texting Jeongmin back, just to irk him some more, and also, really? His boyfriend does need to fix his sleeping schedule, but Hyunseong thinks against it. He'll just annoy Jeongmin in person when he wakes up…in seven hours.
