End.

Small Details

He'd been standing in front of the bay window for a while, lost in his thoughts when he felt a pair of strong arms sneak around his waist, large hands coming to rest on the swollen surface of his stomach and a strong torso come in contact with his back.

"What are you thinking about, love?"

A small content smile formed on his lips as the deep voice spoke in his ear and he let himself lean in the comforting embrace.

"I was wondering... where I would be now... hadn't my tire flattened on that road six years ago...."

A husky chuckle vibrated against the sensitive skin of his neck as the taller male leaned in to put a small peck there. His fingers caressing soothingly the round belly his lover bore.

"You probably would've went on with your life... found someone and well..."

The elder never finished his sentence and the shorter male knew he was trying not to think of what his words implied. A few seconds of silence passed between them.

"Do you ever regret it?" The younger asked. "Stopping and... helping me?"

Another chuckle reached his ears as the taller stepped back and made him turn around, his deep coal orbs staring into his as he brought his hands up to cup the younger's face.

"Why would I? You're the best thing that's ever happened to me."

His words were followed by a small peck to the younger male's lips. And as he pulled back, a cheeky smile played on his face.

"I'm actually thankful to your deceased tire for passing away right then and there."

He earned a small slap on the shoulder at that and his deep chuckle resonated once more as he pulled his husband into his arms, careful not to crush the younger's round belly.

"Do you regret anything from that time?" He asked as the raven head wrapped his arms around his neck.

"Actually, I do." Was the answer he got.

A small frown appeared on his features.

"What is it?"

The raven head didn't answer right away, instead, choosing to relish into the confused silence that installed itself between them.

"So?"

He took in a deep breath as he planted his nose on the crook of the elder's neck, the minty scent of the older male's skin never losing its comforting effect on him.

"Sleeping with you on the first night." He replied, a hint of malice in his voice.

"Huh?"

The elder tried pulling away, but the shorter male held him in place, not willing to let go of the warm security of his lover's arms.

"... why is that?" The taller inquired.

"Well, everything went too fast. I mean... one moment you were helping me with the tire and the next we were... having in my car like hormonal teenagers... I was too easy..."

The older male outright laughed at the statement and pulled away from the younger.

"What makes you think we would've ended together if you had played hard to get?"

"Are you saying you wouldn't have fought for me?"

The smaller was frowning as he put his hands under his belly to support the weight. The taller male pressed his lips in a tight line, only then noticing his words could be misinterpreted.

"I didn't mean it like that..." he protested. "Who doesn't like the thrills of a chase? What I meant is that the odds of something happening differently could be such that we never got together. It's the basics of time travel you know... don't you watch movies? They say any little change can affect the outcome of the world's fate."

An amused expression slowly softened the shorter male's features as he stared up at his lover.

"You're just being weird again, aren't you?"

The elder pursed his lips.

"I just like to think things are meant to happen a certain way." He justified, bringing up a hand to caress softly the younger male's right cheek. "Besides, we would've missed on very good moments, had we not slept together that night."

"Like what?"

The cheeky smile was back on the taller male's lips.

"The police... finding us on the backseat of your car."

The blush and frown that appeared on the younger's face had him chuckling softly.

"You call that a good memory?!"

"Well... it is a source of laughter now."

"Your argument is invalid."

The elder scrunched up his nose before seizing his lover by the waist.

"What got you thinking of that anyway?"

The shorter male smiled.

"The weather... it was pouring like that, that day."

Indeed, outside, the sky roared and cried and the older male couldn't help but to dive in the memories of their first encounter.

At the time, if he'd known his horrible day would end up with such a beautiful event, he probably wouldn't have complained and cursed life so easily.

"It makes me feel so nostalgic..." the raven head said. "I think it's the horm-"

His sentence was cut short by a piercing pain shooting through his stomach and the feeling of a warm liquid running down his legs.

He let out a groan and looked terrified as the fabric of his maternity pants got wetter by the second.

"Tae? Are you alright?"

The older male then followed the younger's gaze and his eyes widened.

"Please, tell me this is pee."

A groan answered his request and he flinched at the painful sound.

"She's coming..." the younger male whimpered.

"What! But... how... why-"

"Hyung.... will you shut up and take me to the hospital?!"

The elder started panicking, not sure how he was supposed to deal with the situation. Their baby wasn't due for another two weeks and to have this happen right then had him lost beyond words.

Another groan of pain cut the flow of his thoughts.

"Minho damn it! Move!"

Slightly startled, the older male had to up his panic as he carefully slipped an arm around his husband's waist and started guiding him to the entrance hall.

"Wait...  the bag."

He stopped in his tracks, earning a menacing grunt from the raven head.

"I'll be right back."

With that, he ran to their room, leaving Taemin standing there, holding onto his belly and sweating. A few moment later, was running back to the younger, who had by then, leaned against the wall and held his eyes shut, his expression contorted in pain.

"Love?"

"Are you ing done!?"

He jumped at the harsh tone that greeted him and had to remind himself it wasn't the younger talking, but the pain.

Setting the bag on the floor, he advanced and helped his husband wear his jacket before doing the same.

He then grabbed the bag from the floor and set a hand on the shorter male's back, slowly guiding him outside.

By the time they made it to the car, Taemin was a groaning mess.

"Hyung... I don't think we'll make it to the hospital..."

The statement had Minho gulping.

"Don't worry love, we'll make it."

"Min... I need to push..."

Minho looked over at the younger sitting on the passenger seat, holding the sides of his stomach and head leaned back against the headrest of the seat.

"Tae... hold it a little alright? We need to-"

"What the hell don't you understand in 'I need to push' ?!"

"But-"

That time around, it wasn't a groan that interrupted him, but a real cry of pain.

"Love..."

"Hyung... she's ready..."

"What? What do I do?!"

Minho was definitely panicking as he leaned towards his husband and rested a trembling palm on top of the younger's belly.

"Help me..."

"I- okay... uh... let's get inside the house it'll be easier."

Taemin shook his head.

"I don't think I can move from here..."

"I'll carry you."

Before the younger could protest Minho was out of the car and braving the pouring rain, he walked to the other side of the vehicle and pulled the passenger door open.

Bending over, he reached inside and unbuckled the seat belt.

"Put your arms around my neck."  He instructed.

As Taemin did as told, Minho slipped an arm under the raven head's legs and the other behind the younger's back.

Carefully, he lifted his husband from the seat and out of the car, walking as fast as he could towards the door of their house.

Grunting in frustration for being unable to unlock the door, he took a few steps back and kicked the wooden piece open, startling his lover.

"Hyung!"

"Sorry."

But he had already bolted inside, power walking towards their bedroom.

“I can’t hold anymore…” Taemin whimpered as he was set down on the bed.

“Just a little more…” Minho pleaded as he reached for the younger’s pants and started taking them off.

“Hyung you don’t know what you’re doing!” Taemin cried. “Call my doctor, now!”

“I will alright… just breath love.”

As he said that, he threw the piece of clothing aside and reached for his phone inside the back pocket of his jeans, all the while trying to sooth the younger's cries of pain.

When the doctor picked up and he exposed the situation, Minho barely even had time to think as the man started pouring him instruction after instruction. Everything seemed to go like a blur as he helped Taemin.

And then it happened, a little being's cries echoed in the room as Taemin's own died down.

Minho could barely believe it as he held his child into his arms. The baby, although smeared in blood and amniotic liquid, was the most perfect thing he'd ever been given to see and even then, the tears pooling in his eyes didn't allow him much of a sight anyway.

The idea of such perfection having been created with a part of himself felt surreal.

"Minho, you need to cut the umbilical cord." The doctor's voice brought him back to reality.

"Huh? With what?"

"Hyung there are scissors in the kitchen..."

"You need to sterilize it, put in over the fire." The doctor said.

Minho only nodded dumbly, though the man on the line couldn't see. With as much caution as he could muster, he set the infant into Taemin's eager arms and ran to take the ustensil. When he came back and finally cut the last physical bond between his husband and their daughter, he heard ambulance sirens echo in the background and a relieved sigh left him.

“The ambulance is coming.” he said.

“Alright, I’ll see you two at the hospital.” the doctor said on the phone. “Remember to keep her warm.”

“Okay… thanks doctor.”

As he ended the call, Minho let his eyes go back to his husband, staring lovingly at the younger male’s awestruck expression.

"She’s so perfect..." Taemin mumbled, never tearing his eyes away from the baby as he cradled her closer to his body.

Just as he said that, the doorbell rang and Minho went to open the door, letting the paramedics enter the house.

About an hour later, they found themselves in a hospital ward, with Taemin still holding their baby in his arms. Minho felt relieved that everything had gone well and couldn’t help but to feel proud for having been the first person to have held his baby girl upon her birth.

“Hyung?” Taemin called as he finally looked up from the sleeping baby.

Minho smiled and sat on the side of the bed, reaching out to caress softly the infant’s cheek.

“Yes?” he asked.

“I just found another good thing we could’ve missed hadn’t we lived that, back then… and I think I don’t regret it anymore.”

The older male looked at his husband with confusion.

“Don’t regret what?”

“Sleeping with you that day.”

The elder chuckled softly.

“And why is that?”

Taemin then looked back down at their baby, one of his hands adjusting the blanket around her.

“If what you said is true… about a small thing done differently changing everything... that means that if I hadn’t been so easy…”

He smiled at his own words before going on.

“There’s a possibility we would’ve never had her…”

Minho just stared at the younger with surprise. “Tae…”

“She’s the best that happened since then… I don’t think I’d be able to live without her… so… I’m glad it happened.”

The older male smiled fondly at the statement before reaching out and setting a hand under his lover’s chin to lift his face and leaning it to kiss the younger.

“I love you.” he whispered against the raven head’s lips.

“I love you too.”
