Part Fifty-Nine
Random Acts of Love: KyuWook DrabblesThe Kissing Chapter
Awkward Kisses
“That was a little awkward,” Kyuhyun said when we returned to the dorm and entered the small room we shared together. Suddenly, it felt even smaller than it already was.
“The kissing game? Yeah,” I said, nervously laughing as I avoided eye contact with him. I began to pick up the room instead. Kyuhyun always left stuff lying all over the place and it was cluttered, considering we had no room to work with.
“It’s even stranger when there’s a camera filming the whole thing,” he pointed out, sitting down on my bed with his laptop.
I gave him a puzzled look. “Are you saying you’d have an easier time playing kissing games with other guys if there were no cameras?”
Kyuhyun shrugged. “Well, it’s just the members. It was kind of funny.”
“What if the card slipped and we accidentally kissed?”
“That’s why having the camera there is weird. Otherwise, it’s not like we haven’t shared drinks before,” he said, starting up one of his video games.
Yeah…because that’s all I’d be thinking about if our lips touched…was what kind of germs I was about to get from him. But I wasn’t about to explain that to him because the chances of us doing another game like this in the future, if Super Junior managed to survive more than a year or two, was pretty damn high. I didn’t need things to get even more awkward.
Dazed and Confused
After playing the Pocky Kissing game with Ryeowook, my heart was beating a mile a minute. I’m not sure what the hell it was. Maybe the strangeness of the situation? We’ve only been in this position once before, but there was an actual piece of paper separating our lips. This time, there wasn’t a damn thing and I swore I felt out lips just barely brush against one another. I had the strangest reaction to this…I nearly leaned forward. I mean, I’ve kissed girls before and you just kind of lean in after your lips first brush against one another’s. It’s instinctual. I was just responding the way I usually do. And the fact that he was holding me wasn’t helping to clear my head any. I was just momentarily confused.
Stolen Kisses
“How come you didn’t end up doing the breathing underwater exercise?” I asked Ryeowook after we returned to the dorm. His hair was still damp from filming the breathing episode of Explorers of the Human Body in the pool and he was drying it with a towel as I flipped on the television.
“I did try to exchange air with Sungmin underwater, but I wasn’t very good at it,” he told me as he sat down on the couch beside me.
“You kissed him underwater?” I asked, my voice raising a little louder than I intended it to.
Ryeowook rolled his eyes. “It’s not kissing. It’s like CPR, we were exchanging air.”
“Were your lips on his?” I asked.
“Obviously. That’s how it works, Kyu.”
I felt incredibly irritated after this—for days—and I felt no goodwill towards Sungmin either, although he acted entirely confused about why I was being short with him. But I was pissed off that he’d kissed Ryeowook, especially when I found out they’d tried this dozens of times before giving up. It was a good thing I was out shopping with my team when that was happening or I’m not sure how I would have reacted.
Kissing Contract
“If some crazy fan ever kisses you, I can’t be held responsible for how I react,” Kyuhyun blurted out one day as we were reviewing some old concert videos of the last Super Show. We’d just started dating not that long ago.
I looked up at him, cuddled up with him on the couch. “Is that really the end of the world?”
“Your lips belong to me.”
“What about if I have to kiss an actress?”
“I will temporarily lend you out for performances, since you will have to do the same with me.”
“And what about if one of the other members kisses me onstage?”
Kyuhyun glared at me. “I suppose…but only our members. You don’t get to kiss every damn person in SM Entertainment!”
“Deal.”
“You promise?” he asked.
“As long as you do,” I reminded him.
“What about Changmin or Minho?”
“Do you want me to start listing exceptions?” I dared him.
“No!”
I knew he would immediately think of Hyunsik the moment I said it and I chuckled a little at his nervous reaction. “Be careful how many people you add to your exceptions list, love.”
Everyday Kisses
“We should probably be on separate teams for the kissing game…don’t you think?” Ryeowook asked. We were sitting in the back seat of the van, on our way to another Super Junior event.
I put my phone away and then squeezed Ryeowook’s thigh. “Why?”
“You don’t think it will be weird?”
“Why would it be weird?” I laughed. Just to prove my point, I quickly leaned in to peck his lips.
Ryeowook smacked my chest, but he was still grinning. “Stop it! I’m being serious.”
“So am I! What do you think is going to happen?”
“I think we won’t look uncomfortable enough around each other, especially if the paper slips. And I think it will look too routine because we kiss all the time. It probably will seem dull when we kiss.”
“I promise to act disgusted if we accidentally kiss,” I told him, patting his leg. “And I promise our kisses won’t look dull. They never feel routine to me.”
