Black and White

Someone ran completely into him causing them both to fall dumbly and scramble over the floor. More policemen ran over and by as Jackson stood to his feet disgruntled. His accuser jolted up and proceeded to run off. Jackson couldn't believe he wasn't even getting an apology.

"Hey! Where are you going? What's the rush?"

"All units are being called to an armed robbery! There's hostages and automatic weapons-- it's a mess!" The policeman ran off in the direction of the other officers. Jackson headed the other direction until he reached Chief's office. The last person that wanted to see him.

"Which bank?" He asked with a stern expression. Chief laughed as he tucked his pistol into the holster around his hip.

"You're not going."
"Oh, come on, Chief! It's my first day back, don't give me this inprocessing treatment."
"Did you forget the conversation we just had less than an hour ago?"
"That was an honest mistake, Chief. And you already scolded me for that, honestly!"

Chief sighed and said more seriously that Jackson couldn't go. It was part of his plan of action that went along with his suspension orders.

"What a load of ."
"You watch your tone, Detective. If it wasn't for me your would still be on a 30 day suspension instead of two weeks. Don't bite the hand that feeds you. I'll send you back home."
"This robbery has Hwanggu written all over it."
"I know." Chief squeezed Jackson's shoulder before he left his office (and kicked Jackson out so that he could lock it up). Jackson wandered around the building, scoping out who was left, who went, and who knew what. A transfer he had seen earlier during the briefing looked to be sneaking off somewhere. He followed her into the garage where she got into a rental car.

"Please enter your designation." The GPS spoke but Sohyun didn't understand a thing. She stuttered, trying to pronounce the name of the bank being robbed. "Youj...Yaje...zen..."

"Youzheng Bank." Jackson spoke entering through the passenger side. Sohyun eyed him and told him to get out.

"Wow, your Mandarin isn't bad." He complimented. Sohyun cocked her head, the nuisance troublemaker from before was in her car uninvited and yet he could speak clear Korean.

"Aren't you supposed to be catching up on paperwork?" She asked still eyeing him while he put on his seatbelt.
"Aren't you?"

Sohyun looked forward. Her hand stuck on the gear stick still in park, hesitant to move it to drive. Although she was breaking the rules--told to stay behind as well but catching on to the fact that the robbery was 100% related to Hwanggu, she'd rather be breaking it on her own accord.

"You know about the bank?"
"I do. I even know a shortcut."

Sohyun shifted the gear and sped out of the garage. She drove almost recklessly along the route Jackson took her. The thought of losing Hwanggu's trail again urged her to stomp on the gas pedal a little harder. An explosion vibrated the buildings surrounding them and Sohyun stopped the car a few blocks away from the bank. Sirens from police cars and firetrucks alike sound off throughout the streets, blocking off civilian entrance. Jackson exited the car first but didn't head toward the robbery. He sprinted towards the entrance of the subway station and Sohyun followed promptly. She wanted to convince them to go back, they're AWOL at this point and the situation is clearly out of their hands with explosives being involved. She was willing to get in trouble but not with the likes of him.

Jackson moved forward, flashing his badge aimlessly at security and jumping over the ticket entry gates. Sohyun mitigated the confused staff by properly showing her badge a gave a lame excuse that they were on patrol. The staff followed her down to the subway platform where Jackson attempted to evacuate the passengers and in result looking hilariously stupid as no one moved an inch.

"Detective Wang." Sohyun approached him to get out of the staff's earshot. Embarrassed she asked, "What in the hell are you doing? Are you playing grabby with me right now?"

"Whose did I grab?" He asked seriously. "Listen, I wouldn't have come here for a reason if I didn't think it was related to the Youzheng bank robbery."
"Go one."
"Youzheng is one of the oldest banks in this district. The infrastructure in this whole area is really really old and there happens to be a very complex very convenient tunnel system that can connect to everything."
"What are you saying..." Sohyun unfolded her arms and her brows furrowed. Jackson knew she was catching on to the events taking place. She answered her own question. "The bank is completely surrounded by every cop in the city...and they have C4."

Jackson nodded. "C-ing-4. That means just a few moments before the next train arrives to the next city which will be here in four minutes they'll--"

"Be here." He jumped onto the tracks, prompting the bystanders to shriek and whisper obscurities about him. He ran down the tunnel until he wasn't able to be seen.

"Detective Wang." Sohyun called out but received no response. She called out for him again and he popped around the wall asking her why she didn't follow him. She replied with her look and he nodded in understanding.

"I did say four minutes."
"Why'd you go down there, anyway."
"To check the blocked off opening to the tunnel. Its cement with some rotted wood layover but...again, that won't stop them."
"We need to get these people out. It won't look good on us if it's turned into another hostage situation in our presence."
"Yeah we'll be a part of that hostage situation. Hey, give me the weapon they assigned you." He held out his hand.

She shook her head. "They haven't assigned any of the transfers weapons yet." Jackson's jaw unhinged. He tilted his head towards Sohyun and asked,

"Are you stupid?"
"Excuse me?" Her right hand went straight to her hip.
"Miss. Transfer,"
"Detective Kwon!"
"Whatever. Why did you even come? If neither of us have a weapon then how do we even defend ourselves?"
"You're the one who decided to go rogue to take on the bad guys yourself."

Jackson laughed maniacally and the two argued forgetting that there was a possible hijacking about to commence. There was sudden clamoring and a loud bang. The metro station vibrated and no one bothered to stay and hear Jackson order them to leave again.

"They're here."
