Pastelz (Hangul: 페스털즈), also known as Pastel, is a South Korean girl group, signed under Jellyfish Entertainment in 2015. The reason why the company chose this name because, Pastel means a peaceful and soft color that can make you feel calm and fresh. As a promise, PASTELZ will give you a nice song to listen, also make you feel better. This group consists of 8 members, Miyoung, Erin, Juliette, Haneul, Moonzee, Ichigo, Vanilla, Sakura and Yojeong. Their debut album, Peace of Pastelz, was released on April 29, 2015.

History

Pre-debut

After the success of Jellyfish Entertainment's boy band, VIXX, the company planned to debut a new girl group, which would ultimately become PASTELZ. Some of the candidates had participated in South Korean entertainment industry through their participation in television commercials, television drama or music video appearances.

The first member of the group that joined Jellyfish Entertainment's training system was Erin in 2012, through an audition. Before she became a Jellyfish Entertainment's trainee, she was a trainee in Cube Entertainment. But, she only focused on modelling and acting. Moreover, she debuted as an actress before debut as an idol. In the same year, Ichigo, Vanilla and Moonzee were cast into Jellyfish's training system. Ichigo and Moonzee(former member) got into the company through an audition too while Vanilla, she was transferred through an exchange program between SM Entertainment and Jellyfish Entertainment. Miyoung and Y(former member) were the next members joined to become Jellyfish trainees in 2013. The seventh and final member of the group to be added was Juliette, who had become a trainee in SM Entertainment since 2008 then changed to Jellyfish Entertainment due to a few problems. She was supposed to debut in F(X) but the company thought that she was undertrained as she was only trained about 4 months before F(X) debuted, so they chose Krystal instead of her. She was also supposed to debut in Red Velvet since she had a training time with Irene and Wendy. But then, they chose Seulgi as they already introduced her to the public. Juliette ended up with leaving the company and joined Jellyfish Entertainment.

2015: Debut: Peace of Pastelz, Y and Moonzee leaving PASTELZ

On April 29, 2015, Jellyfish Entertainment announced Pastelz's debut through a music video, "Hi~(안녕)".

On May 7, 2015, they made their debut stage on M! Countdown. Within one day, they already ranked in seventh place. After one week debut, Y officially leaving the group because she want to focus on her studies.

On May 17, Y and Moonzee decided to leave the group as Y wanted to continue her studies while Moonzee left for unexplained issues. So, any comebacks and variety shows were postponed for a while.

2016: 2nd Single Album: PASTELZ8 & new members, Comeback: Cupid

On April 11, 2016, the group announced that they were currently preparing for a new album after a long silence. Also, two members, Haneul and Yojeong, were added in the group to fulfill the amount as 8 members.

PASTELZ released their second single, PASTELZ8, on April 25, 2016 with title track "Cupid". On April 16, a comeback teaser was released on the group's official youtube channel. On April 28, 2016, the group will promoting "Cupid", that written by VIXX's N and Ravi on their comeback stages.

• Miyoung was born Kim Miyoung  (Hangul: 김미영) on February 14, 1993  (age 23) in Seoul, South Korea. She is the leader and the 2nd main vocalist. She is father in the group. She is a cousin of Exo's Suho.
• Erin was born Han Hyerin (Hangul: 한혜린) on November 27, 1993 (age 22) in Jeonju, South Korea. She is the 1st main vocalist. She is mother in the group.
• Juliette was born Kim Juyeong (Hangul: 김주영) on March 13, 1995 (age 21) in Los Angeles, California, USA then she was raised in Seoul, South Korea. She is the lead vocalist and face of the group. She is a cousin of Teen Top's Changjo.
• Haneul was born Park Sunghwa (Hangul: 박성화) on May 8, 1995 (age 20) in Anyang, Gyeonggi, South Korea. She is the vocalist and visual in Pastelz. Sheis the twin sister of Exid's Junghwa.
• Ichigo was born Ryu Aeyoung (Hangul: 류애영) on May 24, 1997 (age 18) in New York then she was raised in Seoul, South Korea. She is the lead dancer and vocalist in Pastelz.
• Vanilla was born Hwang Jiyoung (Hangul: 황지영) on November 10, 1997 (age 18) in Diamond Bar, California, USA. She is the main dancer, main rapper and vocalist. She is the younger sister of Snsd's Tiffany.
• Sakura was born Han Yoomin (Hangul: 한유민) on December 4, 1997 (age 18) in Daejeon, South Korea. She is the vocalist in the group. She is the cousin of Vixx's Hyuk.
• Yojeong was born Kang Minji (Hangul: 강민지) on October 24, 1999 (age 16) in Jayang-dong, Seoul, South Korea then she was raised at Busan, South Korea at the age 10. She is the lead vocalist, lead dancer and maknae in Pastelz. She is the cousin of Vixx's Hongbin.
