Can we keep him?

Can we keep him?

We've been walking around shops for hours, and my legs are staring to object. Setting down the bags of clothes, shoes, and who knows what else Kibum has bought, I lean against a near by store wall. "Are you almost done yet?" I ask, a bit impatiently.

"Oh just one more store Jong!" He yells happily, already on the move to his next destination.

Sighing, I rub a hand across my face, wishing I hadn't agreed to go out with him today. I should've known better when he said he only needed to pick up a few things, cause that's never the case with Kibum. Grumbling to myself I pick up the bags, but soon notice Kibum isn't in sight. "Dammit...where'd he run off to?" I think to myself, scanning the ever crowded streets. "Great..He drags me out here then leaves me behind.." I mumble, carefully weaving around people as I try to locate him.

Just as I break through a wall of people I hear it, an excited squeal I know all to well. "What did he find this time?" I say exasperated, seeing him practically glued to a shop window.

"Jong! Over here! Come see!" He beckons at me, waving excitedly.

Shuffling over to him to see what all the fuss is about I falter, seeing him so giddy I can't help but stare in awe. Looking up at me with those big twinkling eyes I smile, no longer grouchy with our tedious trip. Squatting down to look through the window I now see why he's so excited. Puppies. At least a dozen little fur balls wiggling and rolling about, as they unsuccessfully try to reach Kibums hand.

"Oh Jong! Can we go in? Pleeease?" He whines, sounding an awful lot like the puppies in the window.

Staring up at me with those big sparkling eyes I can't object. "Alright Kibum..But only for a minute. I still need to make dinner so we have to leave soon." I start to answer. But before I've even completed my sentence I hear the shops bell ring as he darts inside. Chuckling at his childish nature, I head into the store after him. Looking around the store I quickly spot him, already elbows deep in puppies as he grins up at me.

"Look Jongie!" He squeals holding up a brown dachshund, as it tries to escape from his hands. "Whoa! Easy little fella." He coos at the puppy, attempting to hold onto him, but the little things breaks free of his grasp and tumbles excitedly to my feet.

"Well hello there!" I say to the puppy, setting down my bags and picking him up as he my face. Laughing I bring him back, "I think you lost someone Kibum." I tease, ruffling the puppies fur.

"I think he likes you!" Kibum says, giving me that innocent look he does when ever he wants something.

"No Kibum." I say instantly, knowing exactly what he's thinking.

"But Jong..." He whines, holding the puppy up and burying his face in it's fur.

"Kibum-" I start to object,

"Pleeese Jongie..."  He continues, cradling the puppy in his arms and staring at it like it's the most precious thing in the world.

"No." I cut him off, turning around to exit the store.

"Fine.." He grumbles at the ground, placing the puppy back in its pen.

Picking up the my backs again I glance over my shoulder, feeling a ping of guilt as Kibum reaches down and pets him one more time.

"Sorry little fella...Jongie says I can't have you.." He murmurs at the puppy, then reluctantly stands up.

Practically dragging his feet all the way there, Kibum and I finally make it to the house. Setting the bags in our room I call out to Kibum, who's still pouting in the kitchen. "What do you want for dinner Bummie?" I ask cheerfully, trying to bring up his spirits.

"I don't care." He grumbles with his face smooshed into the table.

"Oh come on Bummie.." I say, going over and sitting next to him. "Are you still mad that I wouldn't let you get the puppy?" I ask, smoothing his hair back. He lifts his face up only long enough to give me a frown as a reply, then lays his head back down.

"I don't see why we couldn't keep him.." He mumbles with puffed up cheeks.

Sighing I stand back up, knowing he's not going to let this go for some time. So instead of arguing with him I decide to start on dinner, putting on my apron and pulling everything I need out of the fridge. Cutting up vegetables and boiling potatoes I peek over my shoulder, looking at Kibum who has decided to sulk in the living room. Shaking my head I go back to cooking, but I can't help but feel bad for saying no.

Finally finishing dinner, I call out to Kibum to let him know, but get no reply. Shuffling into the living room I find him fast asleep on the couch, lips still pressed in a pout. Not being able to stand it any more, I slip into our room and retrieve my shoes and coat. "I know I shouldn't, but what the heck. What's the harm in getting one little puppy." I think, sticking a note on the now foil wrapped dinner. Popping my head into the living room, I check if he's still sleeping. "yup. Out like a light." I whisper, then quietly sneak out of the house.

~About an hour later~

Creeping back in the house, I try to keep the puppy quiet so I can surprise Kibum. Carefully taking off my shoes and coat I peer into the living room, Kibum's still sleeping soundly. Feeling a bit giddy, I slowly place the puppy on his chest and scurry to the end of the couch, hoping he doesn't notice me right away.

"What the..?" Kibum mumbles, opening his eyes as the puppy his face. Letting out the loudest squeal I've ever heard, he bolts up right holding the puppy. "But..How?" He looks at it confused, blinking repetitively to make sure he's not dreaming. Holding him up he smiles, "You're so cute.." He murmurs, rubbing his face against the puppies fur, only then noticing that I'm watching from the end of the couch.

"Are you happy now?" I ask, standing up from my hiding place and sitting next to him. Looking away from the puppy he gives me a confused look.

"But I thought you said we couldn't keep him?" He asks, his brow creased in suspicion.

"Well I couldn't stand the thought of you mopping around for who knows how long.." I respond, bringing a hand up to his face. "And then I realized it wouldn't be so bad to have a dog...if it would make you happy.." I whisper, caressing his cheek. Holding the puppy to his chest, he leans into my hand.

"It makes me very happy Jong" He murmurs, smiling up at me.

Kissing his forehead, I wrap an arm around him. "I'm glad Bummie.." I coo, holding him close and petting our new puppy. And just like that I couldn't be happier, sitting with the two cutest things I've ever seen snuggled up in my arms.
