Whistle Blowers

Description

Do Kyungsoo is going into his 3rd year of teaching.  He loves his career, and his new Teacher's Aide, Jongin, offers a new incentive to stay enthusiastic about his job and his students.

However, with a change in regime at his school, darker forces come into play and Kyungsoo and his department find themselves fighting for the students, and themselves, in a terrifying battle against discrimination and bullying that goes right to the top of the Education Department itself.

Foreword

I am new to the fandom and haven't written fanfiction since...well...since the X-Files, lol.  This is going to be multi-chaptered, and slow to kick off but will get faster as the academic year progresses in the story.  It is a KAISOO fic, as well as BAEKYEOL, but it will be weaved in amidst the drama of the situation they are involved in.

Deals with:  Students with special needs (Intellectual impairment, Down Syndrome, Autism)

Warning:  TRIGGER WORDS FOR DISABILITIES, blatant discrimination against people with disabilities, bullying.

Un-beta'd - sorry.

FORWARD

That pause said everything, to every staff member in Blue Sector.

Mi Kyung fills that pause with the memory of hearing one of her students crying in the bathroom after Ji Won had walked out, a bitter expression on her face as she rolled her eyes and muttered "stupid retard" to Mi Kyung as she ran by her.

Baekhyun fills that pause with the memory of a parent-teacher meeting where he held a crying Mother who swore she and her son weren't lying when they said Ji Won had hit him one day; and he had believed her, because even though the boy couldn't speak, he could communicate with gestures.

Chanyeol fills that pause with the memory of Ji Won hissing at him that one of his students was too stupid to talk, so why bother paying to take him to the zoo; what would he get from it?  If his retarded parents were too ing poor to pay for their retarded son to go to the ing zoo, why should the school pay for him?  Just because she was currently in charge of student welfare, didn't mean she had to hand over school funds to take a retard to the park.

Jinki fills that pause with the memory of a Blue Sector student screaming "hit hit hit" after a 1:1 reading session with Ji Won, who laughed it off and said it was the only word in the book he could read and it was a case of echolalic speech.

Kyungsoo fills that pause with the memory of running after a new student with Down Syndrome and Autism; both teacher and student were laughin as Kyungsoo tried to round him up to get on the bus to go home, but the child kept signing 'stay', which had made Kyungsoo feel like he was walking on air because his previous school reported that the boy had tried to abscond at every chance.  The feeling of hitting the ground with blunt force quickly followed as they ran by Ji Won who grabbed his arm and hissed into his ear "Just give him a good smack, he can't talk.  Teach him who's boss".
