Everyone looked up to see you with smiling faces

It was supposed to be me waiting at the other end

I was almost there

But...

He had to come into the picture

"Hey!" I called out to Dara

Dara. The girl that I was with my entire life.

We knew every single detail of each others lives

we stayed beside each other at all times

and we planned on keeping it that way.. but...

"hey Chanyeol! ready to go? its your turn to buy froyo!" she laughed

her smile..

her laugh..

just.. her...

I put on my best smile as I reply "let's go!"

we've known each other for as long as I can remember

and as far as cliche romance stories go, some childhood friends end up falling for each other..

well thats partly right because I fell for her. but I don't know if the feelings are mutual.

One day, she called me over the phone for froyo, which was not surprising since we go for froyo every week.

"Hey! Lets go out! Ive been craving froyo for the past few days" She said with excitement like it was her first time

"Haha. funny, i remember buying you some yesterday..." I replied

"Lets go.. But its your treat!" I added

"Haha okay... Um is it okay if I bring someone along?"

'Well... This wasnt the first time that she brought someone along...' I thought ...

"Sure! So see u in 10?"

"Alrighty then! See you there."

"Ok" was all I said

And with that, I hung up.

I got dressed, grabbed my keys, phone and wallet, and headed out for the door

The fresh summer breeze hit my face lightly

"It gonna be a good day" I said to myself

The froyo shop was a walkng distance so I didnt have to hurry. And she always ends up 10 minutes late anyways.

But when i got there, she was already sitting at an empty table with 3 bowls of froyo. and of course, shes taking pictures of the food.

i swear.. how many angles does a bowl of froyo need? and its not like this is the last time were gonna eat it either.

Girls.. *smh*

i put my thoughts aside and call her name

Dara!" I said while waving my hand.

"Chanyeol!" she replied with a sweet smile.

she held her froyo on one hand and her phone on the other.

as i head towards the table, i glance at the empty bowl beside her. and with that, a guy aproaches our table.

Hes Tall. The type of guy that u see on instagram. You know.. The ones girls follow just cause he posts half body pictures to expose his "Abs"

Psh.. I could totally get that too if i wanted to

But froyo is too good!!

Anyways..

"hey Donghae! Oh.Chaneyol, this is my boyfriend Donghae."

O.O wait a sec.

Did i just hear... The "B" word?

The word that wasnt supposed to be said and was never supposed to be mentioned to each other? The word that i was suppose to be?

I put an awkward smile as i greet him

"Nice to meet you Dara. Im Dara's friend Chanyeol."

Ouch!

Haa.. friend...

I guess im gonna stay a "friend" for the rest of our lives.

His hand reached out for mine and we shook hands

He sat down and We talked.

I watched the way she laughed at HIS jokes. HIS comments. Him.

'I guess i should stop this now. theres no way i have a chance with her anymore.'

When we finished eating, we decided to head back home

"Hey Chanyeol, Donghae is driving me home today. Sorry i have to leave you"

"Its fine" i replied, even though im literally dead in the inside

She smiled as she went in for a hug

"See you again Chanyeol"

She ran back to the car where Donghae gave her a peck on the cheek before closing the car door

And I was again stabbed with a knife. no, a samurai sword.

I walked home, thinking about what just happened in the last few hours

It was just a peck on the cheek... And they are already dating....Yet, im boiling with rage...

days past.... we would see each other often... but not as much as we used to

Weeks past... The word "sorry" was the only thing i hear from her

Years past... Where is she now?

I thought i wasnt gonna see her anymore. She moved away with her boyfriend so i lost all contact with her.

From there, i decided to let go.

I decided.. but i couldnt do it...

I always found myself thinking of her and i hate myself for that

So i made a promise with myself.

" The day she comes back, is the day i tell her how i feel. "

But on the other side of my head, i think, "IF she comes back..."

Will she?

2 years later, i still live where i am now. I still go to the same froyo shop every week. and slowly she faded away from my mind.

Until

"Chanyeol?" A lady said

Sounds familiar...

"Yes?" I answered as i turned my head around.

Dara'ss friend, Bom was standing next to her other friend, TOP.

It took me by shock

'These were the Dara's friends. We're not that close.... theyre talking to me?'

These thoughts came to mind

"Uhh.. hey.. Whats up?" i asked

"We were wondering if we could come over your house for a bit.. you know.. to hang out and stuff..."

'What the... they want to come over MY house?'

"Why?"

"Just cause"

Even though i was hesitant, i still agreed.

Its been a while since people came over my house. the last time was when Dara came over to pick up some of her stuff before leaving.

Me, along with Bom and TOP stopped by a grocery store to buy snacks and drinks before heading home.

"Welcome to my house. you can leave your shoes on the rack and come on in." i said as we enter my small but cozy home

"You live alone?" TOP asked

"Yeah..." i shrugged

They walk around my house, exploring every inch and detail.

I leave them be and go to the kitchen where i drop off the groceries.

After a while, I come out of the kitchen holding a bowl of chips on one hand and a tray of drinks on the other, and i see Bom and TOP staring at a picture frame

It was a collage of pictures of me and Dara from when we were kids till the day she left. She mailed it to me for my birthday a few months ago.

At least she still remembers

And now im smiling like an idiot, thinking ahout her.

Beside the frame is a card that came with the picture. it reads

"To my dearest best friend Chanyeol,

Happy birthday!

How are you? We havent talked in ages! i miss you so much! ill try contacting you when i go and visit there. im sorry i couldnt come and buy you your annual mango froyo.

Just thinking about that letter made me smile even wider

I shake the thoughts off of my head as i walk over to the two

"Here guys.." i said as i toss them cans of pop and put the bowl of chips on the coffee table

"So.. why are you here?"

"We just wanted to let you know that Dara is coming back. right TOP?" Bom explained
