“Yuri! Stop acting like a kid and try thinking about your responsibility to this kingdom” a stern voice roared the whole palace

 

“Yuri, please just listen to your dad, you’re the crowned princess, just please, listen to us, this is for your own good” and now it’s a pleading and soft voice 

 

Yuri swayed both her arm to loosen the guards grip “LISTEN!??? With all due respect YOUR HIGHNESS you never even listen to me, TO YOUR ONLY CHILD!”  a tear then streamed from Yuri’s eyes, she never dared to shout to her parents, they never had this kind of conversation maybe they never even talk everyday because they were always gone, she was always alone, and she never felt LOVED. “RESPONSIBILITY!?? Both of you never even did your responsibility as my parents! Where were you when I won my first sparing? Where were you at the time when I had difficulties at archery? Where were you when fell on my knees and got a very painful wound? (her cry got heavier, but she hold it in)and, and where were you when I felt alone? At the times when I was weak? Where were you when I needed my parents the most?” the last words became softer but still the King and Queen managed to hear, the palace was silent and Yuri’s and her mom’s sobs are the only ones audible, even the guards and servants who had witness the scene cried silently, they all know Yuri’s feelings and they all felt pity for the princess

 

“Y-yyuri” her mom took a few steps with her hand in trying to control her sobs, because of her daughters sudden confession, it hurts to hear the truth, as she was close enough she then cup Yuri’s face “I’m so so sorry, I’m sorry for the times that I wasn’t there for you, I promise I wi . . . . ..” but before her mom could finish the king interrupted

 

“Go to your room Yuri! And think about giving yourself a worth, worth to be called as the crowned princess” then the king turned around not wanting to have further arguments

 

Yuri was burning in anger, her dad is always like that, molding her into the person that the King wants her to be, not what she wants to be

 

The queen then dragged her daughter to her room ,she then locked the door and settled her daughter, letting her sit to the bed.

 

“listen to me Yuri” her mother said sternly but quietly, not wanting to let anyone hear her

 

Yuri just nodded at her mother

 

“now I have a plan, you want to try to live a normal life right?”

 

Yuri again nodded, she still can’t process what her mom was up to

 

“okay, here’s my plan at midnight, I will help you pass the guards, I’m sure your dad will tell them to guard you tight maybe now there are guards outside your bedroom door. . . . . anyways, we will be going to sneak out and if someone caught us, just let me do the talking and act natural, now once you are out of the gates I will lend you a little money for your fare to the city, and I will give you an address later, go to that house and they will take care of you, as the sun shines, you will fly to Seoul. . . . . . “

        

“as in Seoul the capital city of South Korea?” Yuri was just making sure, maybe there are other places with the same name

 

The queen nodded her head and continued  “. . . . .  yes, well, you don’t need a passport when you fly there because we are already in the premises of South Korea, don’t worry about all your expenses there because once in a while I will send Mr .Jung to give you some money, I can’t afford to open you a bank account, it’s too risky and before I forgot, don’t ever use your real name”

 

“then what would I use?”

 

“Kim, use Kim, you will be using Kim Yuri, because that will be the surname of the family that will take a good care of you”

 

“mom? Do we really need to burden some other families? I mean I can handle myself”

 

The queen gave a loud sigh “Yuri, you’re still the crown princess and remember you’re only lucky enough that the public doesn’t know you physically, so you can roam around, but there is no secret that will last forever”

 

Yuri nodded once in understanding

 

The queen stood up from the bed and looked at her daughter who seems to be thinking really deep “Yuri, everything will be fine, I am once a princess too, and I also know what you fell” she kneeled in front of her daughter and held both of her hands “I once had a dream to be a designer, but like you, my father forbids, so I married your dad and was given the most beautiful gift” she then look deep at Yuri’s eyes that was now building tears “I don’t want you to be locked inside this walls, live your life Yul, and be a good leader when you’re ready” a genuine smile was shown that made Yuri’s tear drop again but this time it’s because of happiness. Yuri’s mom than enveloped her in a embrace ”I Love You Yuri-ah”

     

It felt like forever from the last time that Yuri felt the love that she has been longing for, the feeling was overwhelming, it was nothing compared indeed a mothers hug is warm enough to take all your pain and make you feel safe. Yuri then returned the hug as she cried on to her mother’s shoulder “I Love You too Mom” she mumble, of course her mother heard her.

 

The queen broke their hug and stood up as she wiped her tears “now, now, I shall return to our room, your father is already waiting” but as she walked half way she then turn around and whispered something but Yuri still managed to hear it “See you at midnight princess”

 

Yuri nodded “uhhm, see you my queen” then she playfully bowed her head that made her mom giggled before exiting Yuri’s room.

It was already midnight and Yuri was ready, she packed some important things to her back pack and put on some civilian clothes, the only thing missing was her mom

 

Yuri waited and few minutes there was a knock and the door opened slowly “Yuri-ah! Come” her mother’s head popped out the door as she signal her daughter to walk to her, which Yuri obeyed

 

 The plan went well, even thou some guards tried to stop them but still ended up following the queens order, not so long Yuri and the Queen managed to get out of the majestic grounds, away from the palace

 

“I believe this is as far as I can go, please take care of yourself Yul and learn to use some mobile phone, I will tell Mr. Jung to buy you some” The queen gave a quick hug “and don’t forget that whenever you need me, just call me okay? But learn how to use a phone first”

 

“uhhm, mom?”

 

“yes?”

 

“thank you, for this, for everything” Yuri then gave a smile and kissed her mom’s cheeks before turning around and walked away

 

Mrs. Kwon just watched her daughter walk as her image slowly disappeared into the dark “I’m so proud of you Yuri-ah” then the queen sneak to the palace again and this time she was not caught by any guard, she knows the palace more than anyone else.

On the other hand

 

Yuri managed to go to the house where she needs to let the time pass as she will wait for her flight to Seoul. She was welcomed by the father of the family, there she knows she was in the Choi’s residence

 

The Choi’s are just one of the average families on their kingdom but the queened know them for Mr. Choi’s daughter Choi Sooyoung is one of the queen’s scholar, she was the smartest of her batch so the queen decided to give her an advance position at the palace

 

One thing, the queen told them that Yuri was her niece and she will just stay for a while waiting for her flight, of course the Choi’s gladly said yes to the queens request after all it was just a small favor compared to what the queen had done for his family

 

“hi, uhm would you like something to eat?” Sooyoung entered her room as she approached she was holding a folded blanket and Yuri who was just sited at the bed

 

“no thanks, but really I should be the one to sleep at the couch, this is your bed after all” Yuri said as she stood up

 

Sooyoung’s bedroom was not that big but not that small either, it has a small bed good for one person only, a small cabinet and a couch

 

Sooyoung waved her hand “no, no, it’s totally fine, you are our guest and guest should never sleep in the couch” she then gave a smile before handing the blanket to Yuri

 

“Thank you” Yuri said as she unfold the blanket and placed it in her lap

 

“so? Uhm what’s your name again?”  Sooyoung is seated at the couch while fixing herself to laydown

 

“Yuri, and you?” they are both now comfortably laying down

 

“Yuri? Wow you have the same name as the crown princess hehehe but I’m Sooyoung by the way” Sooyoung smiled as she faced Yuri, the couch was at the right side of the bed so they can also talk to each other while laying.

 

“well nice to meet you Sooyoung-shi”  Yuri returned her smile and it struck Sooyoung ‘she looks like the queen’ Sooyoung thought

 

“there is no need to be formal Yuri, so uhm, you are the queens niece so that means you also had a royal blood, uhhh!!! This is so exciting a royalty is with me! we need to take a selca on this” Sooyoung then picked the phone from her pocket

 

“um? What’s a selca?” Yuri asked consciously, she was not allowed to have her phone, only her personal servant Mr. Jung was allowed to use the phone that was intended to her, her mother will call for Yuri but Mr. Jung was the one who will answer it and will only tell Yuri the message, ever in her life she hadn’t touch a phone

 

“oh! You don’t know? Well it’s when you take a picture by yourself and the front camera is often used for this” then Sooyoung went closer to Yuri and clicked an app then moments later she moved her face beside Yuri’s and held the phone infront of them, Yuri can see both their reflection because of the front cam, Yuri was just staring weirdly at Sooyoung

 

“hey com on Yuri, don’t be such a Kill joy and smile” Sooyoung pouted

 

“uhh, okay” Yuri then smiled

 

“okay look at the phone and . . . . . smile. . . . . . click” the picture was taken and Sooyoung went back to the couch “I’m so posting this on Instagram, we look good here, see” Sooyoung showed Yuri there picture that made the latter smile they both looks really adorable

 

“uhm? What’s Instagram?” Yuri became more curious

 

“so, you don’t know? Is your parents that strict to not let you enjoy technology?”

 

Yuri let out a little chuckle “yes, sort of. . . . . . . . . I never had a phone, they won’t let me have one”

 

Sooyoung expression changed it’s her first time to meet someone who is out of this generation she even doesn’t know about the basic of a phone, it’s kind of a pity “uh! It’s okay, I heard you’re going to Seoul right? Man! I’ve always wanted to go there, but hey! You need to learn how to use one, people there are so much advance than here in our kingdom” Sooyoung then sat on the bed and handed Yuri her phone

 

“okay, don’t worry I will teach you to use this” Sooyoung and Yuri spent a good three hours talking about phones and other apps like Instagram, face book, twitter and others, before they drifted to sleep

The next day Yuri was spending her whole morning and afternoon. Her mother told Mr. Choi to book Yuri the last flight because it’s less crowded and she thought this would be better, the last flight will be 9 in the evening. Before Yuri’s flight Mr. Choi gave Yuri the basics about taking a flight because this will be her first time.

 

It was already 7:30 and the Choi family sent Yuri to the airport and bid her goodbye

Yuri arrived at Seoul at 10:50 in the evening, she was outside the airport just with her back pack waiting for a cab, but to her dismay there is none, so she walked on the streets hoping to maybe se an empty cab on the way, but instead of a cab she saw a girl who was walking alone, she caught Yuri’s attention because of frightened look, then she saw three man trailing behind her

 

Yuri didn’t waste any time as she saw the man pulled the girls wrist, she ran towards them and smacked the man’s face before pulling the girl, they ran and ran until Yuri saw a dark corner where they can hide  

               

 As Yuri saw that the three men where already out of sight she looked at the girl again but a glittering metal caught her eye ‘Jung Sooyeon’ she read silently, that was Jessica’s nameplate that was still attached to her uniform

 

“They are gone” Yuri spoke

 

Jessica was startled upon hearing Yuri’s voice

 

They continued their conversation throughout

 

As Yuri thought it’s getting late she gave Jessica a formal good bye and gave her a little money to let her get a cab she can’t just let her walk in the dark.

Yuri then saw a cab and gave the address that her mom gave her

 

It was to the Kim’s mansion

 

The Kim’s are also a royalty a far relative of the queen, she asked them to take a good care of Yuri but to also keep her true identity. The Kim’s had many businesses one of them is the prestigious school Empire High and Empire University, so they can enroll Yuri to the school without any papers needed

 

Yuri was welcomed by two butlers and a maid, she was escorted at the Huge living room where there she can see a girl same age as her a man in a suit that she presume was the girls brother and There mother and Father

 

Moments later Mr. Kim asked the maid and the butler to leave them they bowed, first before they leave and closed the gate. He cant afford letting them know that the crown princess was in there house

 

The Kim family stood up and Bowed to Yuri “It’s a pleasure to have you as our gust your highness”

 

Yuri slightly bowed her head a sign of recognition to them “the pleasure is all mine” the Kim’s then stood straight

 

“Your highness, it’s getting late, how would you like to rest first?” Mrs. Kim ask as she came closer

 

“Hi, I’m Taeyeon!” The girl appeared in front of her with an extended hand

 

“Taeyeon! She’s the crown princess give her some respect” Mr. Kim said sternly

 

Taeyeon retracted her extended arm and lowered her head “oh! Sorry”

 

Yuri let out a slight giggle, it’s her first time trying to have a friend with same as her age “no need to be formal, Hi I’m Yuri, but you can call me Yul” This time Yuri was the one who extended her arm

 

Taeyeon gladly took it and giggled, she as well is isolated but at least she can mingle to her school mates and other children of her parents business partners “Hi again I’m Taeyeon but you can call me Tae” she then dragged Yuri towards her brother who was just standing straight with a cold expression “and this is Soohyun, Kim Soohyun my brother”

 

Soohyun bowed down formally “ A pleasure to meet you princess” he is really charming and had a cute face when he smiles ‘but he is too old for me’ Yuri thought.

 

“and oh! This is my Mom and Dad” Taeyeon said while pointing to them, Yuri just giggled at Taeyeon antiques

 

“Sorry about my daughter’s childish behavior” Again Mr. Kim bowed

 

“no, no there’s no need to ask an apology, I like it this way” A sincere smile plastered at her face

 

“are you hungry Princess Yuri?” Taeyeon asked

 

“no, I’m fine, thank you for accepting me, and welcoming me warmly” This time Yuri bowed 90 degrees that made Mr. and Mrs. Kim gasp, a royalty never bows down especially The Royal Family

 

“please stand up straight, there’s no need to thank us that way” Mrs. Kim approached Yuri as she help her to compose her poise back, it gives a different and wired aura when the crown princess bows down

 

“it’s okay, I just want to show my deepest gratitude” 

 

“Yuri-shi! Come lets go to your room so you can rest” Taeyeon again dragged Yuri to their elevator even if the bedrooms was just located at the third floor.

 

Mrs. Kim approached Mr. Kim “I think Taeyeon is enjoying this” she said as she leaned her head to Mr. Kim’s shoulder

 

“Yes I think so, but can we really keep a royalty? I mean no one saw her outside the walls of the palace, I hope that the princess can catch up to this”

 

“the queen said she’s really a smart kid, and I can see that, so I think she will be fine”

 

Mr. Kim nodded his head once before returning to his son who is reading some papers “Soohyun, I think you should sleep now, work can wait”

 

“I’ll just finish this dad, then I will take a rest, the investors will be early tomorrow” he said without taking his eyes off the papers

 

“okay just make it fast” Mr. and Mrs. Kim then went to the elevator to their room
