Dreamer's Oeuvre

Description

Oh Sehun is one of the youngest and most successful authors in Korea. He is known for his bestselling series; Kai, which tells the story of a young man named Kim Jongin who suffers from various forms of psychosis. With his last novel failing to satisfy readers, Sehun strives to make the next one a hit. To do this, he needs one thing; inspiration. He finds this when his editor sends him, his best friend Jongdae, and his cousin Chanyeol on a country vacation. There he discovers a family restaurant and a waiter who bears the same name and appearance of the protagonist of Kai. As he tries to uncover whether or not the meeting is a mere coincidence or something more, he not only finds his inspiration for what is ahead, but missing pieces to a puzzle he had long forgotten.

Foreword

Sehun was grateful for having successfully escaped Jongdae. He knew that he would have to face the annoying man later, which only meant that he was going to take advantage of the time that he had to himself. Taking a deep breath, he lifted his bag and pulled out his laptop. The restaurant was the only place that had wifi, and though he didn't necessarily need it, it made him feel more comfortable - as though he wasn't in the middle of nowhere.

It took him a couple of minutes of staring at the blank word document before his fingers started tapping away at the keys. He wasn't really sure what he was writing; but at least it was something, and that was more than he had done in the previous month. A half hour flew by with nothing more than the sound of the keys clicking - a comforting, familiar melody - but it was quickly ruined by the sound of constant buzzing. Sehun attempted to ignore it at first, but it became incessant. Finally pulling his phone out of his pocket, he saw that the messages were from Jongdae. Of course. "What the-"

"Excuse me, can I get you anything?"

Sehun shook his head, but the figure next to him did not leave. He scrolled through the messages, which mainly consisted of his name on repeat, and various forms of "I have something important to tell you," before finally lifting his gaze.

That was when time seemed to stop.

His phone clattered to the table as he assessed the scene in front of him, and he almost pinched himself to confirm that he was not dreaming. Standing before him was a waiter. The server had tanned skin, akin to the color of the caramel that Sehun ordered in his coffee, with messy dark hair atop his head. Thick pink lips formed a nervous smile, and dark eyes formed crescents as he awaited a response. He had to be at least Sehun's height, if not an inch or two shorter, and on his pocket was a name tag. When Sehun's eyes read the familiar characters, he forgot how to breathe. Distantly, his phone buzzed again.

There's something that you should see.

Sehun didn't look at his phone; he was too busy re-reading the small nametag that the waiter wore. It was a name that he had seen a million times before, though he never expected it to meet him in reality.

Kim Jongin.
