C.A.P's POV

Seeing Mi Yeon's lifeless body on the cold pavement, made my heart stop. I didn't know what to do. I stood there on the curb frozen in shock. I would have never thought that my first love and best friend would come to an unfortunate end like this. I couldn't bare to see it. But I had to stay by her side. What kind of friend would I be if I left her there?

People started gathering around her. The person who hit her got out and he looked so worried and I wanted to punch him for being so reckless. He was obviously the one in the wrong and he was going to pay.

"Someone call 119!" yelled a young lady as she checked Mi Yeon. I wanted to help. I really did, but I felt like I was going to be useless. Even so, I mustered up the courage inside me and went over to Mi Yeon's side even though I wanted to break out crying.

This isn't the time for crying. I have to be a man and it up to help Mi Yeon.

"M-Mi Yeon! You have to wake up please," I said as tears threatened to fall.

"You know her?" asked the young lady. I looked at her.

"Yeah. She's my best friend," I said as I looked back down at Mi Yeon. I could hear the ambulance sirens off in the distance. The girl nodded.

"Looks like they're coming. We can't move her because then we might end up hurting her even more. But she's breathing... barely," she whispered the last part as she looked at her concerned.

"How do you know that?" I asked.

She looked up and smiled. "I'm a nurse,"

I nodded as I mumbled "Oh,"

Soon enough, the paramedics arrived and helped Mi Yeon as quickly and carefully as possible.

"Who's the guardian?" asked one of them as they lifted Mi Yeon into the ambulance.

"I am," I said as I followed behind.

"Get in," he instructed. I got in and sat by her side as they started examining her. Her eyes were closed and she seemed to have been bleeding a lot from her head.

I held her, now cold hands, as the guy closed the doors and the driver took off towards the hospital.

"Is she going to be okay?" I asked the paramedic.

"It's hard to say with her condition,"

I felt so helpless. I really didn't know what to do. But I knew that I would have to inform her parents.

"What hospital are we going to?" I asked.

"Samsung Medical Center. It's the closest one here," he said.

"Alright thank you,"

I pulled out my phone and quickly dialed her parents. I knew that they were going to be very worried and concerned but I had to tell them.

Mi Yeon's mother answered after the third ring.

"Hello?" her calm voice came through the receiver.

"Mrs. Gu. It's Bang Min Soo," I choked out.

"Oh. Min Soo, how come you're calling at this hour?" she asked.

"It's because..." I paused trying to collect my thoughts. "It's because of Mi Yeon,"

"What about Mi Yeon?" she asked concern raised in her voice.

"S-She... she got hit by a car while crossing the road... she was... she..." I started sobbing because all this time I was blaming myself for her accident. How could I face her parents? They would surely blame me for it.

"She what?" her mother grew even more worried.

"She was... drunk. And I tried to stop her but she wouldn't' listen and that was when she got hit. W-We's on our way to Samsung Medical Center," I said quickly before I choked again and then I wouldn't be able to contain my tears any longer.

I heard her mother gasp on the other side and it grew quiet.

"We're on our way," she finally said as she hung up. I sighed. And I caught that paramedic stare at me.

"You're one tough guy. I wouldn't be able to call my girlfriend's parents if something like this happened," he said as he continued to monitor her condition.

"She's my best friend. Not my girlfriend," I said looking away depressed. I wish she was my girlfriend. Better yet... my wife. But I'm now married to a woman that I know little about and I have no interest in.

About ten minutes later, we arrived at the hospital and there were doctors and nurses already outside waiting for us. The paramedic told the doctors what was wrong and they rushed her to the nearest room.

"I'm sorry sir. But you're going to have to wait out there," said a Nurse as she pointed to the waiting away.

"Is she going to be alright?" I asked hoping that Mi Yeon would wake up.

"I'm not sure sir," she said as she turned away and went into the room to help out. I felt so hopeless and useless. I couldn't do anything for her.

It should have been me. Not her...

I sighed heavily as I dragged my feet towards the waiting area. There were a lot of people there though. Some were standing up as they looked around others were sitting down as they seemed to be praying.

Soon enough Mi Yeon's parents came rushing in. They saw me and came straight towards me. I stood up and Mi Yeon's mother had eyes of a warrior. While her father looked very concerned.

"Where is she?" asked her mother.

"They're attending to her right now," I said looking down. I couldn't look straight at her mother. I was afraid she was going to blame me for her daughters accident.

But to my surprise she gently grabbed both of my hands and cupped them between hers.

"It's not your fault Min Soo. I would never blame you. It was just an accident," she said with the calmest voice that actually kind of scared me. I looked at her and then at Mi Yeon's father. He just nodded in agreement.

"I'm sure our daughter is going to be fine. She was always a fighter. So don't worry about a thing," he said smiling weakly. I knew they were trying to reassure me but I couldn't help but to grow even more worried and burdened.

We all sat down and waited for the nurse to come out. It seemed like the time was dragging by slowly and I was growing even more impatient. Then suddenly my phone started ringing. I checked the caller and it was... Sara. I didn't even want to answer but I knew I would have to anyway. I excused myself and went out towards the lobby.

"What?" I breathed out.

"Where are you?" she seemed to be angry. Which I could careless.

"It's none of your concern," I said.

"We were supposed to go on our honeymoon,"

"So what? I have more important matters right now. The honeymoon can wait," I said growing angry.

"Whatever. I'm going to be at the apartment if you even bother to show up,"

"Okay. Do what you. We both know that neither of us have interest in each other. So why even try? But anyway goodbye," I said as I hung up the phone and went back to the waiting area. Mi Yeon's parents were holding hands as they looked on worried, hoping that their precious daughter was going to be okay.

I sat down again. "The nurse hasn't come back yet?" I asked.

"No," they both shook their heads as they held onto each others hands.

I took a deep breathe and sent a silent prayer. Please let Mi Yeon be alright.

After a few more minutes the nurse came back. I stood up and so did her parents.

"Is she going to be alright?" Mi Yeon's mom asked first.

"We're going to have to perform surgery. She received a had blow to the head. And she has a few fractured bones. So I came to get the guardian's consent," she said turning to me.

"They're her parents," I pointed. The nurse turned back towards Mi Yeon's parents. The nurse seemed to have been shocked at first but then she recollected herself as she waited for their answer. They looked at each other before her father nodded.

"Alright," he muttered out. The nurse bowed and went back to towards the room.

Moments later we saw them rush Mi Yeon out with a respirator in as the nurses made sure was alright. The nurse who came earlier came back.

"If you would follow me," she said as had a paper clip in hand.

She took us a rather nice suite.

"I don't remember asking for this," I said.

"She's Gu Mi Yeon. Her father is... the director," she said bowing towards her father who only blushed. I turned towards him. I don't remember her ever mentioning that her father was the director of Samsung Medical Center. I knew that it belonged to the Lee Family but I would have never guessed that they assigned him to be the new director.

"H-How long have you been director sir?" I blurted out.

"Oh my boy. For six years now,"

I knew that Mi Yeon's father was a doctor but never a director.

"She never told me," I mumbled. He weakly smiled.

"Well because you were gone for four years," he simply stated. It felt I've missed so much in the four years that I was gone

"Sir, your daughter will be out of surgery in a few hours," she said as she left the paper clip.

"If you don't mind filling this out about her information,"

He nodded and took the paper clip and started filling out as the nurse left us in the room.

"This is all my fault," I started.

"Min Soo, please don't blame yourself for this. She's going to be alright," her mother said. But even though she was reassuring me I couldn't help but to feel guilty.

Three Hours Later

Mi Yeon was finally out of the operating room. Her head was bandaged and she was on a respirator. They nurses had a heart monitor on her and a few other machines as well. I automatically went to her side and grabbed her left hand.

"She's not going to hear you. She's still on the anesthesia," remarked one of the nurses. "I know," I muttered out. I looked at the clock and it was already 3 A.M.

Do doctors work this late? No matter, at least Mi Yeon is going to be alright. I hope.

Her mother and father were on the other side as her mother quietly cried into her daughters' hand. I couldn't feel any more responsible.

"Director Gu, the surgery went well. She should be awake by tomorrow," said the doctor who operated on her.

"Thank you, Dr. Park. I hope your right. But you know that in these types of cases, you can never be too sure," said Mr. Gu.

"I know. I just hope your daughter wakes up and has a safe recovery,"

"Thank you," both of them bowed at each other before Dr. Park left.

"So she should be waking up tomorrow?" I asked. Her father nodded.

"Yes, she should be. Let's just hope for the best," he said looking down at his daughter.

"Why don't you go home Min Soo? You look tired and what if your new wife will get worried?" asked Mi Yeon's mother.

"It's okay really," I said.

"You really should go home. You don't want your wife to misunderstand..." said Mr. Gu.

"She'll be fine. It was an arranged marriage. I don't want anything to do with her," I said looking off into the distance. The both of them nodded in understanding.

"You really care for my daughter don't you?" he asked.

"Yes, I was a fool to leave,"

He chuckled. "Aren't we all,"

The following day it was the moment truth. If Mi Yeon would actually wake up. I was more anxious than anything. The day before I did end up going to the apartment since my parents had no choice but to move all my belongings there. Sara was furious that I had stayed out late. But I just ignored her as I showered and went to sleep in the guest room.

"Where were you?" she asked sternly.

"None of your concern. Now if you don't mind I'm tired,"

"Oh, you're tired huh? It's 6 in the morning. So stay up and let's go eat breakfast," she demanded.

"No," she was so angry that she threw a few things around and ended up leaving the apartment to which I could careless. I went to shower and get some rest before heading back to the hospital. I wanted to be by Mi Yeon's side.

Dr. Park walked in followed by interns and a few nurses. He ordered a nurse to take the respirator off Mi Yeon.

"She should wake up soon enough," he said.

"Alright thank you," Mr. Gu said as Dr. Park left with the nurses and interns.

Hours past and still Mi Yeon had not woken up. We all started to grow worried.

"Didn't he say that she should up today?" asked her mother.

"Honey... Remember I said that there are cases where the patient doesn't wake up until who knows when? I think she's one of those cases," said Mr. Gu as he looked away from his wife. "

My daughter!" she exclaimed as she went to her side.

"Please wake up. Huh? You have both your parents and brother waiting for you," she said.

Speaking of her brother... "Where is he?" I asked.

"He's in Europe right now. He'll be back later this week," explained Mr. Gu.

"Oh okay,"

I haven't seen Mi Yeon's older brother in a long time. I think its been more than six years since I last seen him.

Two Weeks Later

Mi Yeon was still in a coma and there was nothing we could do. I was growing more anxious and worried than ever.

"Sir I know you already know this but... if she continues like this she'll soon be a vegetable state," said Dr. Park as he came in to check on her condition.

"I know that very well," he said as he looked down at his daughter. I wanted to scream out in frustration but I knew that that wouldn't do anything.

At least her mother had gone home to rest at least because Mi Yeon's mother looked like she was about to faint and her brother had finally arrived so he was watching over her. I didn't know what else I could do. I had to go work everyday and I would come in the evening to see how she was. Sometimes her fat
