The sun peeks through the parted curtains of his windows on the right side of his bedroom, waking him up. It’s a Saturday but he doesn’t have any plans of going out today. Maybe do his homeworks and watch some movies after, but that’s just it. Kyungsoo got out of bed and went through his routines like any other normal day. It was when he was going out of his bedroom that he heard a knock on his door.

Grumbling, he went and checked who the unexpected visitor might be, thinking it was maybe Baekhyun and Chanyeol - his childhood bestfriends - who just want to bother him again (because “You’re so boring,Soo! This is why you never get laid!”). But when he opened the door, he was greeted instead by a small box and a small carton of banana milk on top. My favourite he thought as he went to pick up the carton and the box, inspecting it for any signs of whoever left it there (but he saw nothing, maybe it’s inside?) or just in case it’s some sort of a trap or something. Thinking that maybe it’s really just a gift, he decided to go to his room and open the gift, all while drinking the banana milk that came with the box, he should really thank the giver later when he discovers who he or she is, he’s been craving for this lately.

As he opened the box, he was surprised to see a small notebook and an old iPod nano inside. He went straight for the notebook, thinking maybe the giver wrote his or her name there, but to no avail. Instead, written on the first page of the notebook is:

Hi, hyung!

I know this is unexpected but listen (or read?? whatever),

there’s a list of instructions on the second page and I want you to read them all carefully

and don’t go on the other pages unless you’re told to.

It’s easy really, and I trust you enough to follow my instructions.

Surprised must have been his favourite expression of the day because once again, he was shocked because isn’t this Jongin’s handwriting?  Ha. The dude actually has the guts to tell me what to do. But being the good guy he is, he went and followed the instructions anyway.

[First page]

Get your earphones and the iPod nano in the box and turn it on.

Is it on? Now go on the first playlist you see and play the first song on the list.

I would like you to pay attention on the lyrics of the song,

that’s basically the purpoes

I spelled that wrong, I meant purpose, that’s the purpose of this whole thing

so don’t freakin ruin everything!!!

You can only go to the next page after every song, alright?

He can’t help but laugh hard at the spelling mistake because typical idiot Jongin, why did I even like that Guy?  He went and pressed play on the first “mystery song” because the idiot decided to change the titles to mystery song 1, 2, and so on.

He can’t help but really smile as he finished the first song. He went back to the notebook and flipped it to the next page as instructed. Written on the next page is:

Ironic how he wanted to cry after reading his words.

Right now, there’s a huge smile plastered on his face because since when did he become this sweet? He thinks he’s going crazy and he’s not even halfway through the playlist.

As the last song ended, he flipped the notebook to the next page only to find it blank. He was about to take his phone and call him and demand for the last page because this can’t be the end, isn’t he supposed to confess by this part?! with a frown on his face, but then the next audio from the playlist played and-

*cough cough*

Uh… hi Kyungsoo hyung?

Uhm.. yeah, this is so awkward.. heh

So, uhm, I guess you know everything by now?

I’m sorry I’m not really good at expressing it personally,

and I thought of this since I know how much you love music

and also because this is more private, like a secret between you and me…

I… I like you, hyung. I’ve liked you for years now.

I’m sorry if I’m a coward but you know my past, right?

You know I’m not really good at things like this.

And I know your past too. I know how scared you are to trust people (except for me, Chanyeol hyung and Baekhyun hyung),

but I really hope you can give me a chance

to show you that not everyone who comes into your life leaves.

I really care for you a lot, you may think I don’t

because this sounds really cheesy and all but,

And that’s when he lost it. Who knew that the feeling was mutual all along? Stupid Jongin and his stupid way of hiding it. They may be close friends but he really didn’t see this coming. Well yes, he gave him chocolates during Valentine’s and he say some sweet stuffs sometimes but all along he thought it was just because they’re ‘close friends’ as Jongin always say. Actually now that he thought of it, he’s the idiot for believing him.

And just a few minutes after, it was Jongin’s turn to be surprised because suddenly, Kyungsoo’s at his doorstep, engulfing him in a huge hug and hitting him in the chest while saying words that were actually incoherent because they’re muffled by Jongin’s shirt. He can’t help but laugh because he’s too cute when embarrassed. It took time before Jongin managed to calm Kyungsoo down.

“At this point, it doesn’t even matter how stupid you are for not realizing that I like you too. Don’t ever think I’ll forgive you for taking too long!! But okay, I’ll be your Sooliet, Jongino.”

Kyungsoo said, giggling because he’s too funny. He failed to see the way Jongin looked at him lovingly before hugging him again, he also failed to see the huge smile the guy had on his face, but hey, it’s not like this will be the last time he’ll have them on.

“The stakes are high, the water's rough, but this love is ours.”
