Paradise

Description

Humans always wish for immortality, wishing to be immune to the effects of the passage of time that will eventually strip us of everything that we love and hold dear. They are so blinded by the seduction of eternal life that they often fail to grasp the true meaning of immortality and the price one had to pay to gain it.

Do they ever comprehend, do they ever stop to think, what happens after one achieves eternal life? Do they have any inkling at all of the incomprehensible loneliness that they would have to bear alone?

They say time moves differently for the everlasting ones, an hour like a second, a day like a minute, a year like an hour. They live day after day, watching everything around them enter their lives in the first second and disappear in the next, never being able to truly savor and appreciate the most important things in life, never being able to really love.

What are humans without love?

We are but mere empty shells when the most powerful emotion we so cherish is stripped away from us.

Love is the one thing that drives us forward.

Whether the love that one feels is pure, broken, blissful, hateful, content or even suffering, it all boils down to the same thing. We do what we do because we cannot stop ourselves from feeling. There is nothing such as logic or rationality when it comes to this one spell that binds us unconditionally to another person.

So what becomes of the eternal ones?

What drives them forward?

They love, but only so briefly.

In the end, they are still as powerless as they once were when they still had a timer ticking within them. Instead of their own fate, they are powerless to alter the fate of their loved ones and can only watch helplessly as the ones they love are snatched away from them by the cruel hands of time.

Foreword

A man dressed entirely in black walked slowly along the worn path. The fallen leaves crunched loudly as they were crushed under his shoes.

His was wearing a black turtleneck with the back exposed with a few strips of fabric strung about in two X-shapes and a single strip running down the length of his back, drawing the eyes of many curious onlookers. He wore black pants and black shoes. He wore no accessories. His hair, styled in a spike that towards the front accentuated his thin jawline and handsome features.

The man walked with a purpose in his stride. The way he held his head up high further increased the strange aura of mystery about him. In his arms, he cradled a bouquet of seven white roses that were in full bloom despite the season.

The man stopped after spotting the object of his interest. He looked at it and finally cracked a small crooked grin.

“You tricked me.”

This was probably the best fanfic I ever read!! I really loved it and I read it all the way to the end. I actually cried towards the end. And in the beginning, I sensed a special relationship between Myungsoo and Hyeri. It ended just as I thought it would <3 Good job!
