Our Make or Break (ft. Beenzino)

Underground Scenarios

Bringing him to your parents house had easily become the most stressful thing that has happened to you this month. You were anxious and had hardly gotten any sleep on the nights leading up to this day. October 5th, the day you and Sungbin were going to your parents house so that they could meet your loving boyfriend for the first time. What made you so scared was that your parents didn’t exactly know what your boyfriend did for a living. Oops, you must’ve forgotten to mention to them that he’s an underground rapper. You couldn’t help but feel like they’d be disappointed that you didn’t bring home some type of office worker, doctor, or lawyer. That was the part that made you so nervous and a tad bit angry, would they feel let down and deny Sungbin access to your family.

“Yah. ____. Are you alright?” Sungbin asked, waving his free hand in front of your face.

With a few blinks you look around, remembering that you were already in a car with Sungbin halfway to your destination of death. . You looked over at Sungbin for a moment, admiring his strong facial features. You must’ve been gawking because Sungbin turned his head to look at you.

“I didn’t snap you out of your trance so that you could look at me like that, ___” Sungbin said with an amused sigh.

You immediately placed your hand on his cheek and pushed his face so he would look forward again.

“Don’t you know it’s dangerous to take your eyes off the road, and I’m perfectly fine. I wasn’t thinking about anything. Don’t be so silly.”

Sungbin shrugged, and you went back to your earlier train of thought, that is, before Sungbin announced that we’d be at our destination in five measly minutes. Double . Your eyes widened and you could have sworn you were having some sort of anxiety attack, but you kept your aesthetic as calm as possible. You weren’t about to let Sungbin know he was right and that there was something wrong with you. You took deep breaths while your mind decided to play out all the possible horrid scenarios that could go down tonight. There were no good ones, none. Thanks a lot imagination.

Your mind snapped back into reality when you felt the car stop. You felt Sungbin’s hand on your arm and immediately looked at him only to notice his gaze was caught by something else. When you followed his gaze, it landed right at the front door of your parents house where, surprise surprise, your parents were standing outside waiting for the two of you.

“Your parents look cool, let’s go.” Sungbin said, giving your arm a light pat.

You sighed and slid out of the car. Sungbin worked on getting your luggage while you ran over to your parents. You gave your mom a huge hug because even though you were nervous, you still missed her.

“He’s a looker. I can see why you picked him.” your mom said with a wide grin spread across her face.

You couldn’t help but smile as wide as she did because Sungbin had already scored points with your mother. As you were exchanging a few words with your mother and father, Sungbin came up to the three of you and he bowed at a 90 degree angle as he faced your parents. You widened your eyes in surprise because this was the first time he’s ever done that. Your mother looked at Sungbin in awe while your father’s face remained unchanged. That was typical though. After a few more minutes of conversation, your mother motioned for everyone to go inside. Once inside, you could smell your moms homemade cooking which made your mouth water. She always knew just what to make to make a person drool, Sungbin was no exception. When your mom went into the kitchen to check on her food, Sungbin elbowed you on the side to tell you that your mother was a wonderful cook.

While your mother continued working in the kitchen, you sat on the floor around the table with both Sungbin and your father. Your cheeks were a soft tint of pink because even though nothing was being said, the silence was enough to drive you mad. While sitting around these two men, you wondered who would crack first and say something. You had your bets on Sungbin since your father could stay silent for days, plus, Sungbin knew he had to leave a good impression, so he couldn’t stay silent forever. Your father took the bottle of soju sitting on the table and poured two glasses, pushing one of them over to Sungbin. Sungbin’s expression was puzzled, but he took the glass anyway because he didn’t want to decline an offering from your father.

"Drink it," your father said in a stern, deep voice "let’s see how much of a man you are."

Your eyes went wide, mirroring Sungbin’s reaction exactly. You both sat there in shock, but Sungbin took the shot with a scowl on his face as the burning alcohol went down his throat. Your father immediately refilled Sungbin’s glass once he had drunk his and motioned for Sungbin to drink the next shot. Sungbin did as your father instructed, his face scrunching again at the taste. When your father watched Sungbin drink, he shook his head, taking down his own drink without any reaction from the alcohol.

"If you’re not strong enough to take down your drink, then how can I trust you with my only daughter?" your father said, shaking his head.

You glared at your father in both anger and slight amazement. It wasn’t everyday that your father expressed some type of emotion, so when he did, the act deserved an applause. You looked over at Sungbin and his brows were furrowed as his head was down.

"Aboji," Sungbin looked up with a hurt look on his face, his brows still furrowed "I adore your daughter, and I’d do anything for her. My alcohol tolerance shouldn’t have anything to do with how much I can provide for her."

Your eyes went wide and your cheeks turned a dark pink. Your heart fluttered at his sweet words, and you could tell they made your mothers heart flutter as well when you heard a small squeal coming from the kitchen. Sungbin scooted closer to you and wrapped his arm around your shoulders, pulling you close to him. His eyes were still glued on your father’s face. Your father’s face remained emotionless as he stared at the both of you. Your father let out a grunt followed by a head nod before he stood up and went to the kitchen to help your mother bring the food in.

With a soft touch, you nudged Sungbin and whispered, “I think he approves!”

Before Sungbin had a chance to answer, both of your parents walked into the room. Your mother set up the table before she sat down next to your father, across from you and Sungbin.

"So, I guess this is a good time to talk about what Sungbin does for a living.."
