Meeting Unexpectedly
Description
"Tiff, ummm..I'm.." My best friend stuttered.
"You're what? Don't tell me, you're... p.re-?" My eyes widened.
"I'm what?" She then realized. "Aish, not that. How the heck did you even think of that?" She added with a hint of annoyance.
"Well, I'd never know. Maybe you and your boyfriend who smells like ketchup, are already on that phase" I retorted in a teasing tone. She then glared at me. It's just my luck that I'm sitting across of her so it was quite a safe distance from her. If not, she had probably done something incredibly violent to me by now. My train of thoughts was then cut off, when out of nowhere a shoe made a contact with my face. Oh boy, was I wrong.
" AHHH.. F@$% JESS! THE HECK!?" I moaned in pain. This girl can be really unpredictable. We've been best friends since diapers but did you expected what just happened? Well, neither did I.
"Oops? Oh, I my sincere apologies. My shoe suddenly decided to give ya face a visit." She calmy replied with a bit of sarcasm after rolling her eyes. This . Uggh. My nose.
After all the commotion died down, we were now sitting beside each other on the couch, with some gap between us. A tensed atmosphere was lurking around us two. Well, it's probably just me. After a good couple of seconds, this female dog then decided to cut the awkward atmosphere.
"Tiff, can you please stop acting like a kid? Aish. You know what? It's fine. I'm at fault this time. I should've gotten to the point in the fist place, so here it goes..." She paused for a few seconds.. " I'm not spending my Christmas with you this year." It was then all quite after she said those words. No Jess this Christmas? But we've always celebrated it together. Damn it. I was getting teary eyed at the moment but I somehow managed to keep it in.
" That's it?! You almost killed me earlier!" I answered trying to hide the sadness that was slowly creeping inside of me. " Why do you even have to ask me? It's not like I'm your mom , eh?" I chuckled trying to ease the atmosphere.
" Ugh.. You stubborn kid. Miyoung, listen I'm very sorry... " She slowly scoot closer to me. " ...I have to go home this year because my relatives from the States are coming to visit. Honestly, I tried persuading my mom to let me stay but she was too persistent." She added in pleading tone.
"It's fine. I can't do anything, can I? I'll be okay. Trust me, I'm an adult now. I can take care of myself." I told her in my most cheerful voice I could manage while avoiding eye contact with her. I was then shocked when I felt her engulfed me in a bear hug. " I hope so. Also, I'm gonna be back before you even know it so it's all good, right?" I then mentally let out a loud sigh in my head.
I hope this Christmas won't be as bad as I think it would be. Fingers crossed.
