Myunghan had fallen.

Barom floated in space and let his gaze sweep over the world: the way the atmosphere glittered from this distance made it look like the earth were some sort of jewel, worn on the neck of the universe. He knew better, though, knew that the Earth was only a worn and tired bauble, clouded by sin and by corruption, and that fact only made the fall even worse.

A frown pulled at the corners of his lips as he flew closer to the world, intent on finding him and demanding answers from him. They’d done everything together, had been partners for so long that without him, Barom felt almost empty. Sure, heaven was full of the wonders of creation, colors that the human eye could never see, fruits with tastes that the human tongue could never taste, but all of that only served to remind him of that one bitter fact.

He had fallen. Voluntarily. Had given up his position in heaven, his wings, his immortality, and even Barom… for what?

For a paltry life in a city called Philadelphia.

And now Barom was determined to know why.
