His ShouldersThe sun is shining bright – both the real one and the figurative one – me. Ha. I’m in a great mood. We just finished our first performance for this round of promotions and even won first place for the week. But the real reason I’m so happy is because, after months of delay, we finally got to perform new songs in front of our fans. Our loyal and adoring fans. Nothing makes me happier than seeing their enthusiastic faces in the crowd, and their excitement was on a different level because of the new album.
We’re packing up to leave when I see something that makes me giggle. Where’s Daesung? I have to tell him about this.
I see him ahead, walking with his head down, so I quickly catch up.
“Daesungah, I just saw one of the kids from that new group getting his handed to him by MINZY!” I can’t contain my laughter and disbelief as seeing our former maknae handling her business so efficiently. I do my best impression of her as I say, “This is the last time I’m telling you, I am not interested. Call you “oppa”? Please.”
Daesung throws his head back as he joins me with his full-bellied laugh. “That’s fantastic, Hyung. I think he’s been after her for a while, I wish I’d seen it. I’m going to have to find her tomorrow and ask her how her oppa is,” he immediately latches on to the sheer entertainment value of the incident.
I throw my arm over his shoulder as we both continue chuckling as we head toward the van.
Daesung’s laughter laces every word as he starts to speak.
“Hyung, do you remember when manager hyung almost caught you when you tried to sneak in to see Seohyun? I thought you were gonna piss yourself!”
I tug sharply on him as I yell, “Yah, how can you bring that up! In my defense, at the time, I thought she could have been the one! And besides… you should remember the whole story. I think I did have to change my shorts when I got home that day.”
We look at each other and burst out laughing even worse than before, as I squeeze him. I can’t believe he remembers that, but then again, I think only he and Jiyong knew about my one-sided crush on her. We’re loud enough that everyone near us turns around, as we’re almost to the van. They’re no doubt curious as to what was so funny, but it’ll remain between us, as so many precious things already do. I drop my arm as both climb in, still giddy with the memories, old and new.
It really is a beautiful day.
