Fumitory (but actually I love you)

Description

Luhan receives fumitory as his present, the epitome of hatred gifted on his birthday. He believes it is from his stepbrother, Sehun. But Sehun proves him otherwise.

Fact About Fumitory:

Usually everyone have a misbelief that flowers are often used to convey some pleasant and glad news though they are not. Fumitory flowers are an instance for that. Unlike other flowers they are send to signify your hatred for someone. They tell that you do hate someone for some reason and a personal note along with it will make things clear. It may be either their qualities, their behavior or some other attitude towards you might have filled your heart with hatred for them. It is always best to tell them rather than keeping it in your heart because the very feeling is the most dangerous thing in the world which has the power to destroy the whole world sometimes as hatred in course of time it may pave way for revenge which can make things worse like anything. If you determine to tell the reason for your hatred as early as possible then it can avoid further problems and perhaps even solve things before it gets worse and complex like anything.

Fumitory can be send to someone asking their reason for hatred. If used wisely Fumitory flowers can propagate the idea to avoid hatred but you have to damn sure that it is doesn’t convey meaning in the opposite way. However, it is always better to stop grow hatred for any reason and a bunch of fumitory can be a portent for it which may able to make things better.

Foreword

www.goog-.com

Luhan types in and searches the meaning of the sweet looking fumitory lying beautifully on his ash brown study desk. Maybe he have a secret admirer, he giggles and clasps his left hand over his mouth. He opens the page and reads through it, hugging his bambi doll against his chest. His starstruck eyes dull and his grip on the doll loosen. His hopeful face morphs into a crestfallen one and he whispers the words, "Hatred?"

"Hatred." he repeats again and this time, he turns to the flowers and his lips thin. Suddenly the white flowers look ugly. Luhan cringes and a knock by the door is heard. Sehun, his brother enters and with his emotionless tone speaks, "Time for your breakfast. You drank last night so your mum makes you hangover soup."

Finished, Sehun turns away and shuts the door behind him softly but Luhan catches him eyeing the flowers.

Luhan's mind clicks. The flowers... are they by Sehun?

Sehun works part-time in a flower store and Sehun knows the flower language.

They are by Sehun. Luhan inputs this as a fact and grits his teeth. Oh Sehun. Oh Satan, he huffs and throws the flowers into the garbage bin. He turns the doorknob and looks back at the bin with the fumitory. The white petals with a tinge of dark purple at the every tips lie there innocently and Luhan picks them up grudgingly, shoving them in his drawer.

At least he got me a birthday present.

Sehun knows what Luhan's mum feeds Luhan with. A image of a graceful morally upright woman with the best of the best smiles in the world. Sehun knows it is true. His mother is beautiful which explains Luhan's soft features and bright eyes. His mother is indeed a saint. She accepts Sehun's father as he is when Sehun is clear that his father is a workacholic. His mother is a morally-upright person. She scolds Luhan for the slightest things like throwing his tantrum in front of the Oh grandparents because he wants a piece of pizza when in the truth, it is Sehun's grandparents who are mean because Luhan does not bear their surname.

Sehun likes her. That is why he still politely greets her and is kind enough to do errands for her.

Yet that doesn't change the fact that the woman is the reason for his broken home. Luhan's mother is blinded by the devastation of the death of Sehun's father's right-hand man, her husband and leans onto the trustworthy man she sees. She never meant to destroy anything, she never meant to. Sehun knows it by the guilty and pained expression whenever Sehun's birthday comes and Sehun fruitlessly waits by his windows to peek if his biological mother is coming to his brithday party when he is young. But she still did unconsciously for she is a human. It happened one night then another and finally Sehun's dad sits across his mother in the courtroom and the both agrees to divorce.

Luhan does not know, of course. His mother is so ashamed to tell him any of it. Sehun keeps it that way and his stepmother writes him an apology letter and thank him for what he had tolerated. At first Sehun is alright though he is still disgusted, he barely talks to Luhan and hates how innocent Luhan is. He also thinks he is sick in the mind, he likes to watch Luhan from afar and admire him. Seeing the boy's lips curve up, he thinks Luhan is the purest boy he has ever seen.

Yet , again, he is disgusted. Because he likes Luhan and yes, in his chapped heart, he locks Luhan out of his heart because his mind sometimes chants hateful words.

He does not trust himself to love the boy at all.

Especially

... when he wrecked his favourite toy out of rage when they are five.

... when he poured milk all over Luhan's blankets.

... when love comes, he shuts his world out of it.

Chapter 2: Hmm.. I thought that meaning behind fumitory is "spleen". It seems even more fitting to be honest, since Sehun is forcing himself to keep this facade of hatred towards Luhan even though it's not completely true (or not true at all). Sehun's character doesn't look like a bad guy, mire like a loner that can't express himself properly due to the lack of practice. Besides you can't just wake up and suddenly change 360, in a perfect world it may be possible but not in real one.
Maybe he's feeling conflicted since they are brothers (on the paper) so there shouldn't be any attraction. Maybe he's feeling tired of this hate game. Maybe he's secretly wishes their reality were different, their past was different but alas.. And sure thing maybe I'm wrong =)

Chapter 2: I'm crying on sehun and luhan's past,, so conflicted, luhan turns out caring for sehun instead of staying mad at him too when he's being punished making it more sad.. Oh poor them, it's not their fault TvT
