B1A4 - Chu Chu Chu

“I can’t wait!” Dongwoo cheered from the living room while Monghyun was busy cooking dinner in the kitchen. She couldn’t help but shake her head as she was spying on her boyfriend through the small window inside the kitchen directing towards the living room. Since he had invited his friends over to have a look at the new house he had bought with her she decided cooking dinner, as he had to set up the table.

Monghyun leaned against the kitchen counter just staring at her boyfriend. She was happy since he was hyped about his friends visiting. It had been a while since she had seen him this happy. But suddenly the smile on her face switched into a frown. What was this feeling? Why were these thoughts invading her mind? Why was she getting this negative vibe all of a sudden? Why was Dongwoo’s happiness making her so uncomfortable?

Everyone get these thoughts of doubts once in a while. It’s completely normal but annoying as hell. Because the person experiencing this gets rather sensitive and nothing is good enough or will ever be good enough. That was what happened to Monghyun at that very moment she had turned insecure.

She pushed herself off from the kitchen counter and watched Dongwoo intently. She noticed how he was humming on a sweet tone, dancing, singing and setting up the table, doing everything at once.

It’s the first time after long I am seeing him this happy.

The first thought popped in her mind. Both Monghyun and Dongwoo moved in together a month ago and she can’t remember seeing him this overjoyed ever during the month that has passed by. Was it the fact that he hadn’t spoken to his friends for a long time and was finally able to see them that excited him? Or the fact that he was finally able to socialize with other people except for her all the time?

He thinks I am boring.

She huffed her shoulders slouching immediately, and honestly she wasn’t that hyped to see the guys anymore.

“Jagiya!” Monghyun snapped out of her train of thoughts and quickly spun on her heels to continue chopping the neglected vegetables.

“Y-yeah?” She stuttered trying to find her composure and calm down her pumping heart. She was afraid she would be caught and he would ask what was wrong. She didn’t really want to tell him what was bothering her.

Dongwoo peeked inside the kitchen while holding the several spoons and forks in one hand. He watched her back loving the sight of her wearing an apron the straps tucked around her neck and waist. He smiled from ear to ear never getting enough of the sight, but soon had to snap out of his thoughts since she turned to stare back at him.

“We forgot dessert” He pointed out and her eyes rounded remembering now that she had bought all the necessary for the dinner and totally forgot about the dessert after.

“Shoot” She frowned wrinkling her nose. He couldn’t help but chuckle seeing how cute she was looking. “I just need to cut these and I’ll run to the grocery store and buy…ice cream?” She questioned making sure ice cream sounded good enough for dessert.

He nodded his head in agreement. “I am almost done too, I’ll join you” He winked and she blinked.

“No, it’s fine. You stay here just in case the guys arrive sooner than expected” He shook his head and walked over to the dining table, making Monghyun turn around completely so she could watch him through the small window again.

“The guys are quite picky with their ice creams. So I need to go with you and pick out the right ones”

Both Monghyun and Dongwoo were walking hand in hand down the pavement taking in the sunny weather. “Whoa!” Dongwoo sighed in content loving the warmth the sun was providing the both with a satisfied smile on his face. He seemed to be in a very good mood today, it was probably because the boys were coming over. It didn’t help the gloomy Monghyun’s mood for that matter.

While the two of them were walking and Dongwoo kept on swinging their linked hands back and forth Monghyun couldn’t help but dig deeper in her thoughts. Even though all she wanted was to escape these feelings that were the cause of her becoming so sad, she couldn’t help but try analyzing everything in her mind.

She glanced over at Dongwoo taking in his features. He looked quite handsome today. Well, he was practically handsome any day. That was why she couldn’t help herself but blush. He had straightened out his hair today for the special occasion, and his tight shirt and skinny jeans were doing him justice. And that smile he wore just made her heart do all kinds of flips. There was no doubt in her mind that her boyfriend was the most handsome one out of all the boys in the world. But that thought didn’t help erase her insecurity that day.

Monghyun turned her gaze away from him and nervously took a look at herself in the reflection of the store windows the two of them were passing by. There she noticed Dongwoo, looking attractive as ever and there was…her. She couldn’t help but think that he was probably bored out of his mind seeing her every day which was why he hadn’t cared to compliment her. She wore his favorite dress, put on a small amount of makeup and done her hair just the way he liked it, but not one word of praise was given to her.

He probably thinks I am ugly.

Her mood just dropped then and there concluding with the fact that she was ugly in his eyes and on top of that boring too. He was probably going to reminisce about the times the boys lived under the same roof, and remember how fun they had together and probably leave her. She felt the energy in her body just disappear which was why her hand slipped out of his.

Dongwoo stopped in his tracks and turned his attention over to her. “Is something wrong?” He made her step out of the darkness she was in currently. She slowly looked up at him seeing his knitted brows and his eyes filled with worry looking at her.

Great, I made him worried! Now he’ll definitely leave me.

She scolded herself and he stepped closer to her and took her hand in his. “You seem so quiet. You haven’t said one word during our walk” She pressed her lips together and shook her head.

“No, I am fine. Now let’s go buy ice cream” She placed a fake smile on her lips and with the little strength in her body grabbed onto his hand and escorted him towards the nearest grocery store. Even though deep down she wanted to ask him all of those questions that were haunting her mind, she just couldn’t. She was afraid the reality would become real the moment he answered her questions and they would be over just then and there. She couldn’t let that happen.

The boys had finally arrived to their place and during the dinner she couldn’t help but notice how the boys were praising her hard work, while Dongwoo was eating quietly. She smiled to the boys thanking them for the wonderful compliments, only to set her eyes on Dongwoo again. He only smiled at the boys and that was it and continued eating again.

He doesn’t think my food is tasty anymore.

Her appetite was long gone and all she was doing was either playing with the food or stabbing the plain white rice.

Once the boys had eaten their food Monghyun told them to get comfortable on the sofa so she could bring over the ice cream. They all complied and did as they were told. Dongwoo helped h
