A randomly selected classroom of high school students just weeks from graduating are selected to be shipped to an abandoned island to fight to the death. Only one may survive, this is no hunger games, there are no berries to save each others love, there is no romanticized television show, just the government prepared to press a button to destroy all deviants and human nature put on show for all participants to see.

 Battle Royale is a Japanese book that came out far before the hunger games, it is a graphic book (if you think hunger games was graphic then we have an issue) where the Japanese government has collapsed and the country has fallen into chaos. School age students have lost all motivation for school, if they have not dropped out of school then they instead have taken to tormenting their teachers. The youth have fallen into absolute anarchy, killings, fights, and stealing has become the norm there is no law for them so the military have developed the BR law. A randomly selected class will be chosen once a year to fight to the death, the government are hoping that perhaps this will be enough to awaken the corrupted youth to the reality of their ways.

 Years later the world has corrected itself and what Japan did has become a story, something to tell the children to warn them to be good. However, is there nothing new under the sun? Does the world not move in cycles? Are people not doomed to repeat their mistakes? Doesn't all good come to an end?

 Korea has suddenly fallen, nobody realised what had happened until it was too late. The world hadn't realised the amount of terror was under, not until the stage was already set, not until the curtain had set revealing the backdrop. The country was nearly completely destroyed, the Mafia had run their tendrils throughout the whole of society and had in one moment completed their aims, destroying the morality of the country. The Government has finally gained control over the country again but the impressionable youth were already corrupted. But the past is never forgotten, so when the BR law is brought up the government immediately initiates it.
