You Are But a Thought
Guardian AngelI watched
as you finally came into this world.
With you screaming as you are set
into your mother's arms.
Every one
of your family members.
Grandparents, aunts, uncles,
and cousins stand here.
Congratulating the very day
you came into this world.
This wonderful world,
planet Earth.
I was above watching you.
It was just a pleasant thing
to finally
see you for the first time.
Once it is time
to go home,
I trail along
behind the car.
And as time goes by,
I watch you grow.
From your first crawl,
first step and first birthday.
It was such a joy and
I enjoyed it all.
Soon you begin to talk,
saying gibberish things.
One time,
you thought I was
the Boogieman
when I came to lay in bed with you.
You screamed
for your parents
to come quickly
as I crawled back into the shadows.
You pointed
at the closet where I was,
your parents going over to see that there was nothing.
Many years passed and
you got older.
It was the day,
the day of your birth.
Everyone celebrated
you turning 20.
I was of course happy as well.
I was more than happy.
That meant it was time,
time for you to be
with me.
For me to take you.
And on that day,
you didn't expect it.
Everybody didn't expect it,
nobody did.
I watched you
ride on your motorcycle,
riding your way around town.
When you unknowingly
hit a truck.
You were not dismembered,
but you were severely injured.
You struggled to get up.
I was by your side,
trying to help you,
knowing what was coming for you.
And for once in a such a long time,
a smile slowly creeps up
to my face
as I caress you.
The paramedics come,
to take you
and place you in the ambulance.
But you know it's too late.
I know it's too late.
Everyone does.
You're not gonna make it.
I sit in the ambulance with you,
holding your hand.
As your very last breath,
comes to an end.
Your eyes follow up to meet mine.
Your soul raises up
and becomes one
with me forever.
I love you and you are mine...
