Plot: Mai are the decendants of an ancient and sacred race. Not completely human, not completely god, they are the descendants of the Egyptian cat-goddess Bastet, the most powerful of all the goddesses.The Mai have a mission to protect the human race from the evil supernatural beings that prowl about the world (werewolves, vampires, Jackals, The Order, demons, etc.). Only when they threaten humanity to the Mai step in. Each Mai is given a specific territory (a city) and that is their responsibility.
Chloe King is a Mai and she happens to be one of the best. Her territory is Seattle, WA. There she attends college for the umpteenth time, makes human friends, and gets herself a boyfriend named Jay Park, who happens to know her secret. Chloe loves being a Mai and yet she yearns for a normal life.
Can Chloe balance a human social life and her Mai duties? Can Chloe and Jay make their relationship work or will it fall to pieces?
Foreword
The night was peaceful and calm. Everyone was sleeping soundly, or at least the people without insomnia were, and resting up for the next day. Little did the city of Seattle, Washington, USA know that their lives were about to change drastically and they will never know it.
In the dead of night, a small blue light flew through the city of Seattle faster then the speed of light. The light landed right on top of the Space Needle.
Once the light disappated, there on the top of the Space Needle stood a young, blonde girl with the wind blowing in her hair. She opened her eyes and looked out, "Wow."
"Wow indeed, Miss King," a voice behind her said, "This will be your new territory."
"Seattle, Washington is mynew territory? Finally! I get a city!" Chloe said excitedly.
"Now, you remember what happened in Farmer City?" the female nexted to the man asked.
Chloe turned around to look at the two people talking to her. They were a bit older then her and dressed in white and gold robes. Chloe just stared at them without smiling tryingto be serious. But she was way too excited to finally have a territy be a city that she could not contain her smile, "I promise not to mess this one up. I'll take good care of this city."
"It would take a lot of of us to make this entire city forget what has happened like what happened back in Farmer City," The female explained in a lightly harsh and annoyed tone.
"We don't care who your parents are right now. All we care baout is that you understand your duties and can fulfill them without being caught or seen," the man continued.
Chloe put her hand up on her forehead with a smile, "I got this!"
The man and woman rolled their eyes and in a flash of light they were gone. The sun was coming up over the city and people were probably going to start getting up soon. Chloe decided to stay up their for a couple more minutes to take in this city which belonged to her. This was her territory to protect and she was more then ready to accept that responsibilty. She had always wanted a city territory and she could not wait to see what this city had to offer her.
