You say for the last time after 3 hours. The exorcism is over.

The girl on the chair lets out a loud and scary scream for some seconds. When it is over her body stands almost lifeless. A fresh breeze could be sense in the room, which minutes ago, was swallow by complete darkness.

Mikah reaches to your side and helps you stand up, that´s when the tingling of the holly medal on your hand pulls you back to reality. You are exhausted. Mikah gives you a bottle of water after guiding you to the sofa. “Thank you.” you hear the mother of the now demon-free girl say. After gulping the water you answer almost soundless “Don´t even mention it, that´s why I´m here.”

You started feeling sick, that familiar sensation made you want to leave the house as soon as possible. While Mikah is gathering your stuff, the father of the attacked teenager walks towards you, and after writing something in a piece of paper, he gives it to you.

“I can´t accept this, this is too much.” You say in a gasp. While you are trying to return the check, the man firmly holds your hand saying, “What you did today, I would not be able to pay you in a hundred years. You saved my daughter and gave us hope, when nobody else believed in us. Just take it, that´s the least I could do.” Unable to give an answer she just took the check and thanked the man.

Mikah put the bag pack on her shoulder and helped you to get out of the house. On your way out, the man says “Good bye, I hope I won´t see you again anytime soon”, you just smile weakly and get on the car. Mikah starts the car saying “That was a hard one, I think it totally beat the one we did the last Halloween night when-“, you interrupted her with a vomiting sound.

Mikah is your best friend since you were 8 years old. She was the first person who believed you when your gift just started showing. Ten years later, you got away from the small town you were living in, and moved to New York where Mikah got a scholarship at NYU.

You are really thankful having a friend like that. She is always there when your gift takes the worst of you and knows how to handle it. Being a complete nerd, she memorized all the procedures, what to do before, during and after any activities involving your gift. She is her accomplice in every call of duty.

What most people do not know is that every time you deal with a negative energy, you absorb it physically. It just sticks to your body, and after some minutes, you would suddenly feel sick and have the urge to throw up. Other symptoms like hearing strange voices and constant nightmares where common after these confrontations.   

You know you had a role in this world, and you know what you had to do no matter what other people think. However, you don´t know what will happen when you get to meet the person that is going to change the balance in your life. You´ll have to show him that when it comes to Faith, stumble a little is the only way to regain strength and follow the path chosen for you.
