It's All In The Game

Flooded

The next day Minseok found himself being pulled out of his room by his translator, not having heard from his employer he’d spent the time pretty much by himself learning what he could about Singapore and Affluent Hotels.

Seong-ssi wasn’t having it, spending almost a week in a foreign country and not even going outside just wasn’t allowed!

After barging into the smaller man’s room Seong-ssi had flung Minseoks jean jacket nearly in his face and rushed him out the door. The mention of food was all that forestalled any possible violence against the intruder.

Minseok had grudgingly started to pull his favorite jacket on over his crisp white V-neck tee when he happened to look up. As he’d been turning his torso to slide the jean material up his arms his eyes had landed on the occupant of the room next to his.

The door was open, affording him his first glimpse of who he presumed to be his next door neighbor.

The setting sun’s light fell across the man’s right side, illuminating most of his face resting in his own hand. The way this man wore his pale blue button down dress shirt especially appealed to Minseok, the top buttons were undone allowing one of his y collarbones to peek through  and the sleeves were rolled up to reveal toned forearms.

The anguished expression he wore brought Minseok to a full stop; his face had started to turn sour at the thought of this other man’s unhappiness without him even noticing.

His trance had been broken by the small shock of pain radiating from the arch of his right foot. He had taken a careless step towards the stranger, causing him to put pressure on the wrong part of his foot.

Feeling uncomfortable with his body’s sudden reaction he pivoted on his good foot to swing around the corner leading to the stairwell. Seong-sii had started up the stairs once more when he’d noticed his charge wasn’t following him.

The dazed look on Minseoks face had Seong-sii quirking his eyebrow at the other man but it went unnoticed, so he shrugged and turned back around to descend once more to the ground floor.

Unlike Minseok, Seong-ssi had spent the last six days exploring the area around them. Maybe it’d had something to do with having no language barriers, but he’d felt no trepidation about going out into the unknown alone.

What he’d been rewarded with was the knowledge of hidden treasures near their living quarters. He was leading Minseok to one of them at the moment actually.

He’d happened upon a pretty little food stall with the best satay he’d ever had, the seasoning they used on the meat was a little spicy, just how he liked it, and they always grilled every skewer to perfection.

It was only a bus stop away, or a ten minute walk, Seong-ssi thought they'd go by foot so his accomplice awould get a chance to see their immediate surroundings. As they walked further from their lodging Minseok became more and more engrossed with the imagery around him.

The sad boy next door was eventually forgotten, overshadowed by the sights of Singapore and the taste of near perfect meat.

-

Luhans attention had been piqued by a sound quite similar to that of someone clicking their tongue in annoyance or pain. He’d raised his gaze just in time to see the corner of what looked like a jean jacket flick around the doorframe out of view.

Momentarily he’d thought to investigate but he had more pressing issues to concern himself with. Settling himself back into his self-reflective pose he tried to view his new situation from every angle.

He’d learned yesterday that there’d been a kidnapping attempt on his Uncles pregnant wife. No one outside the family had known she was expecting, so one of the inner family members seemed to be discontent with his Uncle becoming CEO.

Over the last week they had tried to find the best course of action, many options had been considered but the best they could come up with was to make Luhan a decoy. Very few people even knew for sure who was going to be the next CEO, so they were using Luhan to their advantage.

His mother was actually his Uncle’s elder sister, and him being flown over right around the power shift made it seem like he was a candidate.

He'd been agonizing over his decision for two days now.

Luhan totally understood that bodily harm could come to those involved, but the unborn child was wavering his sense of self preservation.

Albinia, the mother to be, was a pretty woman from Britain who’d stolen his Uncles heart while on holiday in Singapore. Unfortunately she wasn’t very advanced in mandarin so she and Luhan hadn’t had many decent conversations. Nevertheless she'd been good to him the few times they'd met. Her kindness ended up tipping the scale.

He would play their game; he would protect this gentle woman and her unborn child.

Chapter 6: this story seems really interesting. The pairing you picked for this rare concept makes it unique. And the way you described Minseok's character and first meeting scene is simply superb.

Well done & looking forward to the update.
