Seventeen Hours

Description

There's a certain magic to being trapped on a slow moving train for seventeen hours. You can't leave the train. You can't jump off of it. You're just stuck. But honestly? Ryeowook has never felt more free.

It's seventeen hours of meeting new people, seeing new sights, and trying new food on the train from Shanghai to Fuzhou which for Kim Ryeowook, is just the first leg of his trip to freedom.

Foreword

As a little kid I would visit China each year by first visiting my family in Shanghai and then taking a train to visity my family in southern Fuzhou. Those trains were not the fast, efficient bullet trains China is now famous for. Those trains were slow-paced, chugging, mountain trains that stopped every hour to let somebody get on and off. Plus, they always took the most inefficient path possible. Every trip took seventeen hours, so my mom and I would always share a four person sleeper cabin with two complete strangers.  

I don't take those trains anymore. But, ever since I got back from China I've been dying to write some Kyuwook set in China. This particular setting is on one of those trains. I'll be basing this setting off of what I remember from about five years ago and even though not everything will be completely accurate, I hope you enjoy the story for what it's worth. =)

I know I haven't been waiting nearly as long as some of your readers, since I only discovered this gem a few days ago, but I'm soooo eager for an update! You write Ryeowook's character really interestingly (as always!) and I'm dying to know whether his child-like behaviour is just due to his sheltered life or if he has a condition of some sorts. Poor Wookie with his sensitive ears, I have one friend too who gets panic attacks from sudden sounds like guns going off in a movie or stuff like that, and it can be really burdensome :( And how come you have like, the exact same biases as me? The Dragon Boat team is so AWESOME! Anyway, good luck with this one and all your fics ^^

Chapter 6: This story is so cute and sweet, and it's making me want to go on a train ride adventure too. =) I enjoy ryeowook's thoughts and how you describe the scenery and the characters. Ryeowook forgetting his new name aww .

Chapter 6: Even though Ryeowook is child like hes thoughts are very deep. The last part broke my heart, I actually expected Kyuhyun to console Wookie again but maybe he will follow him in the next chapter?
