'Great. It's raining.' I thought as I slowly walked through the busy downtown street. The quick rumble of the clouds told me this would only get worse.

I didn't even think to bring an umbrella. I should've known though. Seoul is always rainy and cold. Goosebumps rose upon my body as I huddled my arms against my chest, seeking out any warmth it could bring me.

'Next time I need an umbrella.' I noted to myself as I pulled up my sweatshirts hood.

My black skinny jeans seemed to not be such a good idea now since the damp cloth was sticking to my legs.

Whenever you move to a new city, you want to walk around, sight see, take pictures of the place you'll be living for god knows how long. So that's exactly what I was doing.

I wondered around for what felt like hours, snapping pictures with my polaroid and taking in the atmosphere. I hummed songs as I made my way through crowds of people. I could tell it was getting darker out but I didn't mind it.

A while later, I decided it was time for me to head back so my brother wouldn't worry about me. Only, I looked around and realized.... I had no idea where I was.

'Oh my god. What have I gotten myself in to?' I thought as I turned quickly in different directions to try and recognize where I was. Buildings, shops, markets, lights, advertisements, but none of it was familiar to me.

"Come on Yuri. You're just overreacting. Calm down, you know where you are." I spoke out loud this time. I knew it was helpless though. My eyes wandered around the city streets and everything seemed to be moving too quickly.

My legs started moving, but I had no idea where I was going. How could I be so foolish as to get lost? I'm lost in a giant city with no way to contact anyone. I have no money. No friends. I'm all alone.

My hearts hammered against my chest and sweat shined on my forehead. Being lost and alone in a foreign place wasn't how I wanted to start my life here. I sat on down on a bench outside of a market. I tried to calm myself by humming to songs, but nothing helped. I tried thinking of an idea to get help, but things were happening too quickly to be able to process anything.

I moved to Seoul only 2 days ago due to my fathers job transfer. I decided to go exploring alone. One, because I had nothing to do besides unpack and I didn't want to do that. And two, because my parents were working and I was interested.

See I come from America. And not a really big fabulous city like Los Angeles or New York City. No, I come from a small town in Maine where I could never get lost.

I brought my phone with me, but it died since I took too many pictures when my Polaroid was full. Kekeke ~. The city at night was breath-takingly beautiful. All the lights and people walking around to shops and small markets was different from what I was used to.

I tried to stop panicking for a minute and actually take in the sight. But I could only do that for a minute before I remembered how confused and lost I was.

The only thing is that, I couldn't go and ask for directions. I haven't memorized our home address so I still wouldn't know where to go. Even if I found a pay phone, I couldn't call anyone since my whole family had to change our cell numbers due to moving across the world. Hopelessness fell over me.

I sat on the bench for what felt like 2 hours, well it probably was. The rain wasn't constant. Sometimes it would downpour, and other times it would be a drizzle. Luckily for me, the rain seemed to have lightened up.

Less people were out now. Actually, there was no one in sight. No more busy streets full of energetic people. The lights no longer glowed in the streets. Only small street lamps lit up the city.

'How am I going to find my way home?'

My eyes began to water as I paced back and forth across the sidewalk. But I refused to let any tears fall down my face. Come on Yuri, think! Nothing came to mind. No great ideas for a way to find my way back. So I did what I needed to, and I just started walking.

I really had no set destination, but I figured 'Hey I'm already lost so might as well explore.' I walked through the dim streets, looking for anything. I came across a small school park.

I sat down on one of the swings and gently swung back and forth. I looked around and gaped at all the buildings in the distance. I got lost while I was searching around downtown. But now I was on the outskirts of downtown.

Once I got bored and my mind became too jumbled to handle, I got up and started trying to walk back towards where the large buildings were.

My feet were killing me, my face sweaty, and my hair was in a giant knot. Needless to say, I looked like I died and came back to life.

I still didn't know where I was, but I started hearing a group of people walking in my direction. The sound of their voices increasingly louder. My hopes were rising. Maybe they could tell me where I was, or at least help me in any way.

My feet carried me to the near sound of their voices. My body turned the corner and I saw a group of guys walking in my direction. They seemed to be the same age as me, around 17-18.

'Don't be nervous! Why are you nervous? Forget about the past, they could be nice people!' my mind started rumbling.

They didn't seem too bad. Even though it was probably 3 in the morning and that might sound a bit off. They didn't seem like bad people. But nowadays, you never know. I needed to stop judging people like this, I could end up hurt one day. Tsk. Nevertheless, they dressed nice-ish, and they didn't look drunk or loud.

Although I was desperate for help, my body began to tense up and I got nervous as I was going to try and speak to them.

Their images grew closer and closer. My body had stopped in place, and they just kept walking in my direction. I stopped right next to a street lamp, so where I was standing was illuminated.

There were 3 of them engaged in a conversation. Their style was nice I guess. Wait Yuri, get it together, you need help.

And as quick as that, they were walking right past me as I stood there blankly.

'YURI YOU'RE LOST!' my thoughts yelled.

I closed my eyes nervously and turned my heels quickly to face their backs.

"A-Annyounghaseyo uhh..." I nervously spoke. My voice level wavered and I could tell how odd I must sound.

They stopped and turned around to face me. I still couldn't make out their faces, but I knew they could see mine since I was standing right in the light.

"Anneyoung." the one with dark fluffy hair said to me.

"I ,um, need some help." I said while turning my eyes towards the pavement, not wanting to make eye contact because the pressure in my mind started building.

They all stared at me and I realized how odd I must look. I was wearing skinny jeans, a giant grey sweatshirt that I found in the men's section of a department store, and white hightops. All of this, but my face must look like I've been rolling in dirt.

"Ne?" the tall one with white hair replied. His face looked confused, because obviously he didn't understand why I stopped them.

"Ne. Uh...." I realized I had no idea what to say. I could feel my face was flaming red and I was thankful it was dark so they couldn't see.

"Hm yeah. You said you needed something?" the same one spoke.

I was about to start speaking again, but moments later I remembered that I still didn't know what my home address was.

"Yah, my name is Yuri. Well, uh I was out walking and I sort of got lost. I have no idea where I am and my phone is dead. I don't know what my home address is either, I just moved here." I was really thankful that I spoke fluent korean. My mom and dad are korean and we only spoke korean in the house, so this worked to my advantage.

After I said this out loud, I realized how stupid I must sound. I didn't even ask them anything I basically just told them my problems hoping they could give me a solution.

The tall boy turned to his friends and spoke before he turned back to me.

"Do you know any important places you might live by?"

"Yes, I live near Han River but I still don't know where my house is."

"You know where Han River is right?" the one with a beanie and brown hair said.

"Well, yes, but not exactly right now."

The fluffy haired one started walking closer to me. I stepped backwards and drew my arms in closer to my body, not really knowing what he was doing. He gently grabbed my shoulders and turned me around to face the other way.

"Ohh...." My voice was soft, like a whisper, as I saw the Han River right in front of me.

Wow, how much more stupid and awkward could I get? It was a little ways beyond the school next to the park I was sitting at.

They all chuckled as they watched my face change in to one of realization and embarrassment.

"Glad we could help!" The one with the beanie laughed.

I feel so humiliated. I just made a fool of myself in front of these guys. Not to mention, I looked like a trash can right now.

'Way to meet new people, Yuri.' I thought to myself.

"Kahsahamnida." I bowed slightly and began slowly walking towards the river. Only again, I didn't know which way to go. Although I didn't know my address, I knew my moms shop name. And from there, I could find my way to the house since it was generally close.

Again, I stopped in my tracks and turned my heels around again. They were walking in the same direction as me so I walked up to them.

They seemed confused but were smiling.

"Ne? Are you okay?" The one with white hair asked.

"Hm, do you guys know where Minso's Beauty Salon is?" I asked them. This was my grandmothers old salon and it was a bit popular. It's been in Seoul for quite a long time so I thought they might know.

"Ne! I know!" The fluffy haired one exclaimed rather excitedly.

"Could you point me in the direction?"

He pointed to the west. I bowed once again and walked in that direction.

"Hey wait! We'll walk with you." one of them shouted out.

"A pretty lady shouldn't be walking around by herself in the dark like this. It's dangerous." the one with the beanie said.

At first I thought he was joking and just complimenting me, but after I looked at his face. I saw he actually wore a look of concern for me.

"Aniyo, it's okay. I don't want to inconvenience you with me getting lost." I spoke and looked down.

"It's okay! We're not doing anything anyway, we've just been walking around." the one with a beanie said with a sweet smile.
