Foreword
Hana Swi: The girl everybody falls in love with, Hana Swi was born in a ratty Southern Californian coast town just about a dozen miles North of the Mexican border, or at least that's where the orphanage she was left in as a baby was. She was raised by the director of the institution, a Colombian woman named Martha Plata, who grew so infatuated with Hana, she brought her up making believe she was her daughter. On Hana's fifteenth birthday, she found out the truth and fled, first to San Diego, but, eventually, to LA. With some effort she managed to get a billionaire Korean CEO to finance her future, which would, in return, be dedicated to his company as the International Relations Director. For this purpose, since graduating from a prestigious high school at seventeen, she has traveled the world and learnt no less than eleven languages. About to celebrate her twentieth birthday in a month.
Mio Watanabe: The student with the highest rank in the Japanese national tests, Watanabe Mio is the daughter of world renown baker Watanabe Toru. After reading about Kimura Eiji in magazine, she turned down a full scholarship to Kyoto University in favor of moving to South Korea to pursue her passion for melon pan. And boy, was it a passion. They were almost a month into the first semester and, due to the dozens upon dozens of people, students or not, who waited as much as four hours for Kimura to get out of class, getting Kimura-san's legendary melon bread had turned out to be nothing less than impossible. Even though she was in the College of Natural Sciences's Department of Chemistry and Hana enrolled in the College of Humanities's Department of Korean Language and Literature, they met while attending the KLCP or Korean Language and Culture Program which provided foreign students with intensive Korean language training. Because they hadn't known Korean at the time, they had made a habit of holding conversations consisting of a strange mix of Japanese and English.
Eiji Kimura: A year ago, Kimura Eiji could have never imagined his melon bread would become such a sensation. He was merely a student struggling financially in a foreign country until he talked with some friends, got the necessary permits, set up a stand in front of the university he attended, to be able to go directly from his classes to his job, and started baking. Not two months had passed when he appeared in the first magazine, and only ten had passed when Watanabe Mio saw the article that inspired her move.
Yong Sang-hoon: Boss of the Yong (Dragon) Family, one of the biggest organized crime syndicate in the world with branches all throughout Asia, Europe, Northern Africa and the United States. Previously a high ranking member of the Chil Sung Pa (Seven Star Mob), he single handedly overthrew the Big Boss and established his command in order to create what is known as the Yong Empire by swallowing up other gangs, making strategic alliances, and ruthlessly beating down rivals. It is unknown how he first saw Hana Swi or how he feels towards her as are his intentions with the Game.
Kim Young-min: Current CEO of S.M. Entertainment. Holds a deep friendship with Yong Sang-hoon from the past and approves of the Game.
EXO: K-pop boy band produced by S.M. Entertainment consisting of 11 members divided in subgroups EXO-K (Korean) and EXO-M (Mandarin). It has won over forty awards since their debut in 2012. Made their comeback in April of 2014 with Overdose.
