Do you remember how you and I were so young and small?

We were always together, do you remember our friends who were jealous of us?

It was a hot Sunday noon when Jongin and Naeun decided to buy some ice-cream. They were 8 that time. Playing around at the park with only smiles on their faces, too innocent and too busy in their own world. They were just like any other kids. They play, they fight, they troll each other and they laugh like there’s no tomorrow

“I want strawberry flavor” the young girl said after choosing her order, but didn’t really choose because she always order strawberry.

“Again? Naeun-ah, try other flavors too, you always buy strawberry” The little boy beside him said

“But I want strawberry!”

“Hmm, Chocolate? Mango ? Oh what about melon? That’s good too” Jongin said, ignoring Naeun’s glare

“Two scoops of melon icecream please” Jongin said to the lady

“Aish, Jongin!”

“Just agree Naeun-ah, don’t worry it’s my treat”

“Whatever. I’ll tell this to your mom!” Naeun said before running away

Naeun went back to the park and sat on the nearest bench. She was pissed again at Jongin. He was really stubborn.

“Naeun” She knows that it was Jongin but she didn’t turn, she keep her arms on her chest while pouting

“Naeunie? Hey don’t be mad. Here” Jongin walk in front of Naeun and give her once ice-cream but Naeun only lo9ok at it

“Hmmph!”

“Hey, don’t be mad. Don’t worry, next time you can pick the flavor” He said

“Really?”

“Yes”

“Okay” she smiled and get the ice-cream.

Of course she won’t let it pass easily. Because that next time Jongin said, she will order the flavor that he hates the most. Green Tea.

As a child, the duo also experience fights with other kids. There were those kids who likes to bully others, and sadly, Naeun was the victim that day.

"Ahaha!" the bullies laugh at the sulking Naeun, the bullies just splashed a bottle of water when she passed by

"Yah! Stop that!" Jongin coming to the rescue. He went to Naeun's side and comfort her

"Ohh, Naeun's boyfriend is here" 

"Aww, what a lovely couple"

"Yahh!" Jongin stand up and started to punch those bullies, while Naeun cried

"stop Jongin, stop"

Do you think of those days like I do sometimes? Do you remember
The nice breeze, the warm sunlight that shone on us? Do you remember

 It was spring. The flowers were blooming everywhere and the fresh air hit their faces as they biked to the hill. They were 14 that time. Entering their teenage years, with full of changes pysically and emotionally.

They parked their bikes beside the fence of old Mr. Jung's farm before having a race on reaching the top of the hill. Due to the fact that Jongin was a man, re runs faster and left Naeun behind. When Naeun reaches the hilltop, Jongin is already laying down on the grass.

"Haha you'll never beat me Naeun-ah" he teases  as she sit down beside him

"Tss, you'll see Jongin, one day I'll beat you!"

"Keep dreaming"

"yah!" she plucked some grass and throw it at Jongin's face

"Hey!" 

"ahahaha!" 

It was silent when their laugh subside. They were both looking at the sky afar. No one dared to talk, they both just feel the cool breeze that hugs them.

"Naeun-ah" 

"hmm?" she turn her head and see that Jongin is looking at her

"Lay down" He said and tap his stretched arm, signalling her to use it as her pillow

If they were kids like before, Naeun will automatically lay down just like as he said, but she just stared at Jongin. She felt something weird, it was awkward. They were not kids anymore. They were not like before, things changes as they grow up. So she just shook her head for an answer

"I'm fine" 

"huh?" Jongin wondered. He sat up and look at Naeun "Naeun-ah"

"hmm?"

"Are you....shy?"

"what?"

"Why don't you want to lay down beside me.... hey don't tell me that..."

"tell you what?"

"You have a crush on me?"

"What?" Naeun felt her cheeks warming "Yah, in your dreams Kim Jongin! Me? The goddess Son Naeun having a crush on you?"

"Then why are you blushing?'

"I'm not!"

Naeun and Jongin laugh again after that. Naeun knows that it's just one of Jongin's joke. But she also know that inside her heart, it was true. 

Honestly, I was afraid, I wasn’t used to my trembling heart when I saw you
Actually, I resented you for acting like everything was normal

Why didn’t you know my heart?

A long and tiring day at school had passed. Naeun is already walking home when an arm suddenly wraps over her shoulder. She looks to her side and see Jongin grinning at her. With wide eyes and a fast beating heart, she slapped Jongin's arm away.

"Yah, that hurts" 

"I don't care, what are you doing here by the way?" she ask her bestfriend. 

Yes, she still consider him as her bestfriend. They were already 18 that time. Naeun's feelings for Jongin have grown in her heart. But she keep it a secret. She doesn't want to ruin their friendship just because of that. And for all the past years, she have manage to stay away from Jongin as frequent as possible without his suspicion. because she knows that if she'll stay with Jongin all the time, her heart may explode anytime. 

"What kind of question is that? The last time I checked, we're still bestfriends and we're neighbors too. Is it wrong to walk with you? Hey Naeun, I noticed that you're not hanging out with me anymore. Am I not your bestfriend anymore?"

"Huh? Aish Jongin, you're being so dramatic. Of course you are still my bestfriend"

"Really?" Jongin clings his arm around hers "I'm relieved, I thought you already forget me, and replace me with that Taemin guy" he pouted

"Taemin oppa is just a friend"

"Aww how sweet, you're even calling him oppa"

"Shut up"

You came to me, into my heart, as something more than a friend

It's already lunch break. Naeun sits on her usual table after getting her food. She's alone that time. She watch the other students as they eat their lunch with their group of friends. She missed Jongin. She missed hanging out with him. Having stupid conversation with him. She missed him.

Before, Jongin would be babbling about how the food tastes, or even be gossiping about the school's latest rumor. He would even pick all the vegetable in his plate and put it to Naeun's plate. How she wished that Jongin is there with her.

As if on cue, a tray of food was put on the table. Naeun look up and see Jongin sitting in front of her

"Hey Naeun-ie"

"Jongin!" She greeted with wide smile on her face. She can't help but to feel happy

"ohh, you missed me?" He tease

"No" she played along, but still smile at him

"You're a bad bestfriend, anyway I have a good news"

"What's that?" Naeun ask, she can see happiness in his eyes. Maybe something big happened

"I have a girlfriend now" 

Naeun's world stopped. She thought if what she heard was right. Jongin has a girlfriend now. 

"Hey? Why are you not saying something?"

"oh? Girlfriend? You? You're kidding right?" she laughed, as if teasing him. She's trying to hide her dissapointment, the pain that she's feeling.

"Yah, it's true! Soojung's my girlfriend now. You should support me, you're my bestfriend!"

Bestfriend. The word keeps ringing on her head. She stopped laughing and face him

"I don't want to believe that Jongin. You know why? Because I love you. I love all this time. Why am I your bestfriend? And why can't I be more than a bestfriend for you? Why don't you just love me? Why?"

It was just all in her mind. She want to ask those things. But she didn't. Once again, she decided to push away what she really feels.

"I'm just joking. I'm just happy that you're finanlly a man. And of course, I'll support you. I'm bestfriend right?" She said and smiled.
