Description

►In Shallowbrookes, there was a tradition. When a child turned 19, they will make a decision; to stay or leave. They are taken to a cliff. Over the edge is where the townspeople wait, behind the child is a forest. If the child jumps into the arms of the people below, they have chosen to stay in the town, and never leave. But if they chose the forest, they must leave their old life behind, never look back.

“Gone”
When I was younger, my mother used to tell me,
"For a star to be born, there is one thing that must happen: a gaseuos nebula must collapse. So collapse. Crumble. Mistakes are not your destruction, sweetheart. They are your birth."
I never understood what she meant until I got older. When I was younger I used to make a lot of mistakes, small ones and big ones. Whenever I did, I would always put myself down. So when ever I made a mistake; she would tell me that and it would always make me feel better. She told me not matter what mistake I made, she would always love me with of her heart and soul.
I love my mother. Sometimes I wish I didn't leave; that I stayed in that godforsaken town. But at that same time, I'm glad I did. As I travel, I wonder if my mother still loves me. I wonder if she still sees me as her brave little girl. I wonder if she thinks my decision to leave was the worst mistake I ever made. I wonder if my decision hurt her and if it did, could she ever forgive me?
I do not know, but what I do know is that this was my decision. This is my story.
