Donghae had never been so confused in his life. He loved Eunhyuk, he knew that, in brotherly way, though. But even though he knew that, when he saw other people, other ‘couple’, are we different? he thought. Even Sungmin said that they looked suspicious because Donghae really liked to kiss Eunhyuk. What kind of straight guy sleeps while hugging his guy best friend? Not to mention they loved to hug each other like there’s no tomorrow and always tried to kiss each other. But then Donghae thought that Eunhyuk still liked girls. That was impossible if Eunhyuk liked him in that kind of way. Donghae still didn’t understand. No matter how hard he thought he knew the answer, the truth was he didn’t know. He didn’t know who he should ask about this. Definitely not Siwon. He thought Siwon would freak out or worse, offer him to be his boyfriend instead of Eunhyuk’s. But Donghae thought again. Hey I’m not gay! There are so many ‘but’s in here. It just shows how confused Donghae was. Hyukjae isn’t gay and so am i. But why are we acting like a couple? We’re best friends, right? Those kinds of questions really bothered him.

            “Donghae-ah, have you woken Hyukjae up?” Donghae snapped out of his thoughts when he heard Heechul’s voice, “I thought he wanted you to wake him up.”

            “Ah, hyung, I haven’t. I’m about to, though.” He answered, but he was still thinking. And because Heechul had known him for so long, he could tell that the younger one was thinking about something.

            “Tell me.”

            “Huh?” he didn’t know what Heechul meant.

            “I know you’re thinking about something. You have this serious face on,” he made a circle with his index finger in front of Donghae’s face, “So tell me, Donghae-ah. What is it? You know you can trust me.” he smirked.

            “Um…” Donghae was thinking so hard. He knew that he could count on Heechul, he sometimes had the best advice than God. But he just couldn’t trust that face with devilish smirk on. Then he thought that Heechul could be less judgemental than other members in this kind of topic. Well, actually all of the members wouldn’t be surprised if Donghae said he was gay for Eunhyuk. But even so, he tried to find the right words to say it to Heechul first, “Hyung, can you promise me something?”

            “Yeah.” Heechul said quickly without even thinking.

            “This is a secret between us.”

            “I love secrets.” Heechul grinned but stopped when he saws that Donghae didn’t do the same, “Okay, when you finished your schedule today, come to my room tonight and we’ll talk. How does that sound?”

            “Good. Now, I’ll go wake Hyukjae.” He walked out of their dorm to the 11^th floor, where Eunhyuk and some of the members slept.

He stepped in to the elevator, and pressed the button that leads him upstairs. He could have just used the stairs, but he was too lazy to do that. He just realized that his head was a bit hurting, maybe because he had been thinking so hard. Just because he remembered he had something he had to figure out, his head hurt even more. It was like a torture, and Donghae wanted to end it by figuring out everything. He stepped out after the elevator door opened. He walked inside the dorm, to Eunhyuk’s room. His body moved by itself, like it was some kind of magic that dragged him to that room. Even though his brain wasn’t really working at the moment, his heart knew where to go.

“Hyukjae-ah, ireona.” He poked his arm. Seeing that Eunhyuk didn’t move at all, he decided to stick to what he usually did when he woke Eunhyuk up. He hugged him from behind and nuzzled his nose on the crook of Eunhyuk’s neck. Eunhyuk shifted a bit, just to hold Donghae’s hand. This was what usually Donghae did. He acted like he wanted to wake Eunhyuk up, but then the other members always found them were sleeping and hugging until they decided to wake those two. (Author: IT’S A FACT! Sungmin said that when he and Donghae were on a tv program. Donghae always does that when he wakes Eunhyuk up. In case you haven’t known :p)

“Yah~ Look at them. Sungmin hyung, come here.” Ryeowook who saw the door slightly opened, came to Eunhyuk’s room and called Sungmin after he knew EunHae were sleeping together, again.

“What? What happened?” Sungmin said a bit too loud and Ryeowook shushed him right away, “Sorry, what happened?” he whispered and Ryeowook pointed at Eunhyuk’s bed. Sungmin followed the direction Ryeowook pointed and smiled after he knew what was happening, “They never change, do they?”

“It’s been, what, about 14-15 years? They’ve known each other that long and they are still sleeping together like this.” Ryeowook giggled not so loudly like he usually did.

“I won’t be surprised if one day they ditch their wives just to cuddle up like that.” the younger nodded in agreement.

“Should we take a picture or something?” but little did they know, they had been watched by certain someone. An evil one. He planned to ruin what those two were planning. Yeah, he liked to do things like that.

So he tip-toed to the kitchen, he grabbed a frying pan, and a stainless steel spatula because he thought he could create louder sound with that. Then he walked silently towards Ryeowook and Sungmin who were now inside the room, trying to take a picture of sleeping EunHae. He smirked, and before those two could notice that they were not the only ones who were up at the moment, he hit the frying pan he was carrying with the spatula.

“WAKE UP!! WAKE UP EVERYONE!!! WAAAAKKKEEE UUUUUUUP!!!!!!!” he shouted while still making ear breaking sound. His plan worked. Eunhyuk and Donghae woke up, shocked and not knowing what was happening.

“KYUHYUUUUUNNNN!!!!!” Ryeowook and Sungmin yelled at him in frustration because they didn’t get the chance to take a picture of EunHae.

“What happened?” Eunhyuk rubbed his eyes, trying to get used to the lights.

“I was trying to wake you up.” Donghae yawned.

“Ah~ I see. Then why are three of you here?”

“They planned to make a scandal of you, hyung. And I saved you.” Kyuhyun smiled innocently.

“What?? We were just trying to take some pictures of you guys sleeping and this evil kid showed up!” Sungmin explained and Ryeowook nodded

“Okay, all of you, shut up.” Eunhyuk got up and put his hands on his hips, “Firstly, why were you both trying to take pictures of Donghae and I sleeping?” he directed that to Ryeowook and Sungmin, then he turned his head to look at Kyuhyun, “And you, you didn’t save anyone. And I don’t like the way you tried to wake me up. It’s noisy.”

“So you want me to hug you when I wake you up?” Kyuhyun smirked and that made Donghae and Eunhyuk blushed slightly.

“Yah!” Eunhyuk threw a pillow at him but he easily ducked, “Get out of my room, you brat!” Kyuhyun willingly got out of the room while laughing like a maniac, feeling like he succeeded to make the couple embarrassed. Eunhyuk’s attention went back to Sungmin and Ryeowook. They seemed confused becaused Eunhyuk looked at them like he demanded an answer. Then it struck them.

“Oh, hyung, we-we thought..”

“We thought you both were cute so we decided to take some pictures,” Sungmin continued his dongsaeng’s words, “But before we could do that, Kyuhyun came and made some annoying noise.”

“I see. Now all of you, get out. I’m gonna take a shower.” They started to walked out of the room. But he saw Donghae was still sitting on his bed, “Hae, including you.” Donghae sighed and left the room.

“Donghae-ah, go take a shower. Don’t forget that we have pre-recording at 10 am.” Sungmin said. They had to perform Super Junior-M’s new song called Swing and Donghae didn’t even feel like want to swing that day.

“Arasseo, hyung.” he walked lazily back to 10^th floor. He felt like a zombie, he walked like a zombie but thank God he didn’t eat like a zombie. If you think that you’re so confused about something, try to be Donghae. He was so confused that he felt like his brain had gone from its place.

Donghae saw what their fans, well especially EunHae shippers, would be so happy everytime he and Eunhyuk looked all lovey dovey together. Some said it was only bromance, the others said they were both secretly wanting to make love to each other. Everything they did, everything they said gave hopes to their fans that they were real. They always were. He thought it was only for fanservice, but he didn’t mind doing all that. He wasn’t pressured into doing that. And when they cuddled in Eunhyuk’s room, there were no cameras and no fans. So was that a fanservice? He kept thinking to himself that other pairings did what they did too. But when he really saw every other pairings, Eunhyuk and him were like the most intimate ones. Beside Hanchul, of course. So were they really just best friends?

He thought about it when he was taking a shower, he still thought about it when he was taking a dump, he couldn’t even stop thinking about it as he brushed his teeth, he kept thinking about it while changing his clothes, he got out of the room still thinking about it, even when Kangin called him over to have breakfast with the other members he still had to think about it. The other members could tell that something was not right with Donghae. He kept spacing out and it worried all of them even evil maknae. Donghae looked like he was extremely fragile that day. It was like if they touched him a little, Donghae would collapse right away. And they knew the person they could count on in this situation was the one and only Lee Hyukjae. So all of them, well except Eunhyuk and Donghae, looked at Eunhyuk with pleading eyes. Feeling everyone’s eyes on him, Eunhyuk couldn’t help but looked back at everyone. He mouthed ‘What?’ and everyone looked at Donghae and then looked back at Eunhyuk like they were saying ‘Something is not right with him. Go talk to him!’. Eunhyuk sighed and got up, and everyone just moved automatically to fill the space that Eunhyuk just left and provided another space right beside Donghae.

Eunhyuk sat beside Donghae, and he patted his best friend, “Donghae-ah, are you okay?” Donghae’s eyes finally met Eunhyuk’s eyes. He could see that Eunhyuk was worried about him. But that only made him think harder about the thing he was thinking about earlier.

“I’m okay.” Donghae managed to speak 2 words and that made Eunhyuk shrugged. He was about to eat what was still left on his plate when  he felt everyone’s eyes were on him again. He slowly looked up, and there he saw eight pairs of eyes glaring at him. He flinched. He knew that he had to ask Donghae again, because he actually wasn’t really convinced by Donghae’s answer. But everyone knew EunHae sometimes were so stubborn, so they had to help them like that.

So Eunhyuk wrapped an arm around Donghae, “Seriously, are you sick?” but instead of getting an answer, he only saw Donghae got up from his seat.

“Just leave me alone.”  He said coldly, “I’m gonna be in my room. Just call me when it’s time to go.” With that, he walked to the room he and Leeteuk usually slept and locked the door when he was inside.

Everyone exchanged glances, not knowing what really was happening. And they looked at Eunhyuk suspiciously.

“What? I didn’t do anything. We didn’t fight at all.”

“If it’s not Hyukjae hyung, then who is it? He’s never been that upset to anyone.” Henry mumbled. Everyone shook their heads. No one knew the reason.

But the fact was, Heechul knew something. He knew Donghae needed to talk to him about something. And he had kind of guessed what was it, or who was it. He promised Donghae that this was a secret between them, so he tried his hardest not to say anything to the other members. After Leeteuk left for military service and after he was back from military service, he and Kangin were the ones who took care of everyone. Even though everyone said they could take care of themselves. So what Heechul was going to do was wait for Donghae to come back and told him what had been in Donghae’s mind these days.

“Donghae-ah, we’re going now.” Zhoumi knocked on the door, and not long after that, the door opened revealing Donghae. He didn’t say anything and just walked out of their dorm.

            Eunhyuk didn’t sit beside Donghae in the car, because he thought Donghae wanted him to leave him alone. Is he mad at me? he questioned himself. Though that he didn’t remember doing something that could make Donghae mad, he still thought he could be the reason why Donghae looked gloomy today. Eunhyuk’s heart hurt when he saw Donghae was not happy. All he wanted was Donghae to be happy. They had been together even before Super Junior was formed. He knew what Donghae was like when he was happy, angry or sad. When they fought, it never lasted too long. Either one of them apologized first or both of them just started to cry together and apologized to each other. But Eunhyuk always knew what was the reason when Donghae was mad. That day, he got nothing in his mind.

            Everyone asked Donghae what happened to him and all of them got turned down. None of them got the answer. Then they thought maybe Donghae really needed some time alone. Donghae was so grateful that when they performed Swing, he didn’t really have to smile and he wasn’t in the mood to smile. Donghae didn’t screw up the performance and the fans look happy, and that was all that matters for Donghae. They didn’t have anything to do after that so some of the members decided to go out to have dinner, and the others just wanted to go home and order some food. Including Donghae. Eunhyuk also wanted to go out, but seeing Donghae was still gloomy even though the day almost over, he decided to go home with him. So there were Donghae, Eunhyuk and Kyuhyun in the car. Yeah, Kyuhyun wanted to just go home so he could play Starcraft.

            “Hyung,” Kyuhyun whispered to Eunhyuk, “You haven’t talked to him?”

            Eunhyuk just shook his head, “I haven’t. I’m afraid he doesn’t want to.” then Eunhyuk remembered something, “Do you think it’s possible that Donghae mad at me because I told him to get out of my room when I was going to take a shower?” he said in a really low voice.

            “Pfftt, no way. He is a sensitive person, but you’ve been doing that for years and he’s okay with that. So I don’t think that’s the case.” Eunhyuk only nodded and looked at his best friend that was sitting in front of him with a sad expression.

            When they arrived, Donghae quickly went inside the building and didn’t even think to wait for Eunhyuk and Kyuhyun. He got inside the elevator when it was opened, and went straight inside the dorm after it reached 10^th floor. He didn’t waste any time to change his clothes, or to remove make-up that had been on his face. He threw his jacket to the couch in their living room and then he stood in front of Heechul’s room. Is this really okay? He couldn’t help but feeling a bit anxious. Before he could knock the door, Heechul opened it from the inside.

            “Oh! You surprised me. I heard something from outside so I thought you’re home. Come on in.” Donghae nodded and slowly went inside. The room was full with gifts from fans, just like everybody else’s room in the dorm. Donghae noticed there was a picture of Heechul and Hankyung on the bedside table and smiled. He missed Hankyung just like everyone else did, “Sit wherever you want.” Heechul said after locking the door, just to make sure no one interrupt their conversation.

            When they both were feeling comfortable enough, Heechul asked him again, “So what is it?”

            “It’s… Promise to keep an open mind?”

            “I promise.” Heechul smiled to assure the younger that he’d do what he said.

            “I don’t know where to start, but it’s about..”

            “Hyukjae and you.” Donghae looked up, shocked that Heechul already knew.

            “How did you know?”

            “Everyone knows.”

            “Is it really that obvious?”

            “What? That you both look like a married couple? Yes.” Donghae laughed awkwardly and slightly blushed, “Then what about it?”

            “Erm.. the thing is, lately I’ve been thinking,” he looked at Heechul to see if he was listening and continued, “about my feelings toward Hyukjae. I’m so confused.”

            “Just keep talking, I’m listening.” Donghae nodded.

            “I don’t know what really is happening. I love Hyukjae, we’ve been best friends since forever. But then the fans keep telling me that we look like we’re more than that.” he trailed off, “now I keep wondering if we are really more than just best friends.”

            Heechul sighed, “Though that I could just say ‘you clearly love him and he does love you too’, wait I just said that, didn’t I?” Donghae widened his eyes, “The point is, you and Hyukjae should figure that out yourselves.”

            “But I’m afraid Hyukjae will freak out and our friendship will be so awkward.” Donghae looked down, “I don’t want him to hate me.”

            “Yeah, I know. But he’s your best friend. I believe he won’t judge you if you tell him the truth. Well, if he decided to be an , then I’d have to kick his .”

            “Are you sure it’s going to be okay? He’s not going to freak out and hate me? the last thing I want is Super Junior disband themselves because of me. Because I tell Hyukjae that I might have feelings for him and he hates me for that.” Heechul shushed him and hugged Donghae.

            “It’s going to be okay. You should go to his room and talk to him. And if you want, then I’ll wait outside the room in case something bad happen.”

            “I’d like that.” Heechul let go of him and patted his dongsaeng’s shoulder while smiling and Donghae smiled back.

            “Now that’s the Lee Donghae I know.” Donghae chuckled lightly, “Okay, now let’s go.”

            Donghae felt confident after hearing Heechul’s words. He walked into the elevator with his chest puffed out. But when he reached 11^th floor, his confidence gone. Far, far away. He realized what he was about to do and the consequences. Heechul saw Donghae tense and sighed.

            “Don’t even try to back away. It’s now or never.” Heechul said to him. It didn’t really help. Donghae thought he was about to have a panic attack. His palms were sweating, he felt hot and cold at the same time, and he just wanted to run away.

            “H-how do w-we figure it o-out?” Donghae asked, just remembered that he didn’t know how to figure it out with Eunhyuk.

            “Kiss. Try to kiss him on the lips.” Donghae’s eyes were as wide as a tennis ball and his cheeks were as red as a baboon’s , if that’s the right word, “If it feels right, then what you feel is true. But if it feels wrong, then… you know.”

            “I, uh.. how can I just kiss him?”

            “That’s why you should ask him first, kid.”

            “I-I ask h-him whether I c-can k-kiss h-h-him or n-not?” he stuttered like crazy and Heechul sighed for nth time.

            “Donghae, listen to me.” He grabbed Donghae’s shoulders and looked at him in the eyes, “Pull yourself together and talk to him and solve this problem a badass. Be an Iron Man, Hae!”

            “What’s that supposed to mean?”

            “That doesn’t matter. Now go, I’m right behind you.” Donghae finally nodded and went in. They saw Kyuhyun was on his computer playing Starcraft, “Kyuhyun-ah, where’s Hyukjae?”

            “He’s in his room.” He answered without removing his eyes from the screen.

            “Now it’s your chance. I’ll wait here.” He smiled at Donghae, “You can do this, Hae.” Donghae inhaled and exhaled then he knocked the door.

            “Hyukjae? Are you busy?” he asked.

            “No, come on in, Hae.” Eunhyuk already knew Donghae’s voice and he wouldn’t lie that he was happy to hear Donghae’s voice again.

            “Fighting!” Heechul whispered to Donghae before he went inside Eunhyuk’s room.

            “Hyukkie..” he saw that Eunhyuk was laying in his bed with his phone in his hand, “Can we talk?”

            “Sure,” he got up to sit on the bed and patted the space next to him, “Sit here.” Donghae did what he was told, dragged his feet and sat beside Eunhyuk, “Why do you look so serious?”

            “I’m going to tell you something, but promise me you won’t freak out or laugh at me.” Eunhyuk raised an eyebrow.

            “What? You got yourself a girlfriend?”

            “Just promise me!” Donghae pleaded.

            “Okay, okay, I promise. So what happens?”

            “I.. I have been wondering. You know what our fans say about us, right? They often say that we look more than just best friends.” Eunhyuk gulped, afraid of what was going to happen.

            “And?”

            “And I also think that we’re different from other pairings, you know,” he paused to look at Eunhyuk’s expression and he looked just as serious as Donghae, “Are we really best friends? Or we are more than that?”

            “I.. uh..”

            “Do you love me, Hyuk?” he asked.

            “Of course I do!” Eunhyuk’s cheeks were now so red, “We’re best friends after all.” He added.

            “So tell me, have you ever been wondering if the love we have is not only because we’re best friends?”

            “W-well, because our fans keep saying that we can be more than just best friends, I couldn’t help but think about that too. I thought about how they could think that we’re more than best friends.”

            “Y-you know, Heechul h-hyung told me something.” He stuttered, just as nervous as Eunhyuk.

            “You asked him???” Eunhyuk widened his eyes in disbelief.

            “H-he can keep secrets!”

            “Right.” Eunhyuk scoffed.

            “Don’t be like that. This is a serious problem, Heechul hyung won’t just tell this to everyone.”

            “Alright, so what did he say?”

            “H-he say… um.. Can I kiss you, Hyuk?” Donghae’s and Eunhyuk’s cheeks had never been this red before.

            “I-I don’t k-know. W-what if it turns awkward?”

            “Then we’ll just stop and just think that that’s never happened.”

            “Agreed.”

            They both awkwardly leaned in, trying so hard not to back away. Donghae was so desperate to know the answer and so was Eunhyuk, even though he never really said that. They closed their eyes, and finally their lips met. They thought it would be awkward, but they were so damn wrong. It was like their lips were destined to meet each other. It fitted perfectly. When they finally felt like none of them was going to pulled away and freak out, they began to move in sync. Are those fireworks? Eunhyuk said in his head then he gathered up his courage and pulled Donghae by the waist. Donghae gasped but then he put wrapped his hands around Eunhyuk’s nape. The kiss was slow, romantic, just like how a first kiss should be. They kept kissing, without realizing that they just accidentally made a vase in Eunhyuk’s room fell and crashed.

            “What happ—” Heechul barged in after hearing the voice and closed the door immediately, “Oh my shishus, I didn’t see that!” those noises made Eunhyuk and Donghae parted their connected lips.

            “I think that was Heechul hyung.” Eunhyuk said, wiped the corner in his mouth with his thumb.

            “Yeah, I think so.” Donghae pulled him for another heated kiss. That night, they fell asleep in each other’s arms like they usually did, with wide smile on their faces.

            The next morning, the air didn’t feel so gloomy anymore. Sun was shining through the windows and bird chirping with happiness. It was like in those fairy tales when it almost reached the end and it let people know that the couple in the story will live happily ever after.

            “Do you smell it Sungmin hyung?” Kyuhyun asked, sniffing around.

            “Smell what?”

            “The air.”

            “What’s wrong with it?” Ryeowook came from the kitchen, holding a plate full of fried egg.

            “It smells extra gay this morning.” Kyuhyun said, making Sungmin and Ryeowook frown. Right after he finished that sentence, Donghae came out of Eunhyuk’s room, skipping happily into the room.

            “Morning everyone~”

            “That room! That room is the source of gayness in this dorm!” he pointed at Hyukjae’s room and Sungmin smacked his head but Kyuhyun just grinned like an idiot, “Just kidding~”

            Donghae had figured out everything, and so did Eunhyuk. They were not afraid of their feelings anymore. They were happy. The fans were right. Donghae told himself. Now all he had to do was come out to their members, and then their families. Though that it wouldn’t be easy, they believed as longs as they are together, nothing could come between them. He thanked Heechul for his advice and how supportive he was. He thanked him for telling him to try to kiss Eunhyuk. Because that really worked. Donghae asked Heechul where he found something genius like that and Heechul said casually that he read fanfics.
