Prologue

He was flying around in circles, high above the Japan Sea. The last time he’d been in that area, he had spotted another angel.

Being an angel was lonesome; there weren’t that many of them.

When he had asked Him about that, He hadn’t given him a satisfying answer: “Angels are supposed to be alone. It is your fate to look after the humans. Contact to other angles is to be held at a minimum!” His booming voice had echoed through the silver-haired angel, leaving no room for questions.

But now, with the prospect of meeting another one of his kind, he wasn’t able to hold himself back. He was so lonely.

It took a few years until he caught a glimpse of the other blonde again. Immorality had its perks after all; otherwise these years would have been way too long to endure.

The stranger had his wings spread out widely, letting himself be blown around by the soft ocean breeze. He stopped to watch him, speechless at the sight. Did he also look as serene and beautiful when he let himself go as that other angel? Was that something all angels possessed or was it just that one?

All of the alarm bells in his head went off when he decided to fly nearer to the beautiful creature. They weren’t enough to stop him.

“Hello?” He called carefully. The blonde almost fell down into the water at thee shock but quickly caught himself.

A slightly nauseating feeling filled his stomach as he watched the other slowly turn around.

But when their dark eyes found each other, it was over.

Everything was over.

“You two broke the one single rule you really had!” His voice hollered, thunder and lightning accentuating his overwhelming anger.

The two blonde angels were kneeling next to each other, shivering in fear and shame. Their eyes were downcast, focusing on the almost black cloud underneath them.

But their hands were interlaced, so tight it would require brutal force to break them apart.

“I wanted to send you both to hell for your mistake!” He went on, a loud thunder making one of the angels cower. “But Archangel Raphael persuaded me to have mercy. You will both be banned from heaven and live on earth like humans. Just like humans you will have multiple lives. You will meet in each of them and at the age of 16 you will remember everything. However, you won’t be happy about that, as your lives will be filled with hardships.”

With that He disappeared. The two angels shared one last desperate glance before the clouds opened and they fell through the raging storm. The winds ripped their wings apart.

The lightning burned their white robes.

The thunder shook them to the core, silencing their screams of agony.

Just before they lost consciousness, they could Raphael’s soothing voice: “prove your love to be the real one.”

And then their hands were separated.
