See You at Harry's

Description

Lee Taemin and Kim Jonghyun both lacked something different: Taemin, his voice, Jonghyun, his intelligence, and something the same: strength. At some point, the both felt like giving up, but when things start getting bad- worse at home, Jonghyun decides he's going to need a proper education if he plans of living his life the way he wants to. He goes to Taemin after a few teachers recommended the younger boy as a tutor. Taemin agrees, because he suddenly feels needed and it's a wonderful new feeling. Over time and lunches spent together at a little restaurant a few blocks away from their school called Harry's, Jonghyun and Taemin find so much strength in each other that they just can't find in themselves. Is it possible for them to become strong together? Or perhaps things will crumble, like Taemin's convinced himself they will.

Foreword

So I was surfing through the JongTae tag and what do I find? Absolutely nothing. Nothing at all that I want to read. It's so hard to find a good JongTae fic, yeah? Like a legit, chaptered JongTae fan-fiction. They're so rare! Now, I'm not saying this is going to be any good, but I'm putting this out there because there is just not enough JongTae in the world.

Also, I just finished reading See You at Harry's (which I would and would not recommend because it's wonderful and heart-breaking) and it gave me a bit of an idea. This is going to be nothing like See You at Harry's was, but it does involve a little restaurant called Harry's, which is really the only comparison.

Note: I don't know when exactly I'm going to start this because this was just kind of an idea that came to me as I was desperately searching for some good JongTae to read (I came up with nothing, I'm disappointed) so I'll leave you with this prologue just in case you're interested.

Prologue

Lightning flashed in all its glory, mocking Taemin with all its beauty and perfection. Thunder boomed, laughing at Taemin for being so pathetic. Rain beat at his skin, telling Taemin to get out of there. But Taemin didn't move. He kept his position: sitting on the ground with his knees pulled to his chest, his arms wrapped around his legs, and his chin resting on his left knee. He stared at his arms as best as he could in nothing but moonlight, watched the water run down his skin as if his skin were producing tears since his eyes couldn't anymore.

"See you at Harry's." Taemin whispered to himself, biting down on the skin of his arm to keep himself from crying. The words were horrible, nasty lies and Taemin wished he'd never said them. He bit his arm harder, so hard that he felt blood seep into his mouth and drip over his tongue. But he kept biting just to keep his mouth occupied so he didn't say those horrible, horrible words again. They were lies. They were all lies.

Taemin wept, tears finally springing to his eyes so he no longer had to imagine the rain across his arms as his skins' tears. His tears ran down his cheeks and across his jaw, streaming into his ugly bite wound that was still dripping blood. Some tears got in his mouth along with the blood, and Taemin suddenly felt like a monster that was eating someone alive. He felt like a monster that was eating himself alive, starting from the inside and slowly making its' way out. He'd clearly already eaten whatever was inside of him, because here he was ripping skin off his arm for no apparent reason.

Taemin didn't pull his mouth away from his arm. He didn't stop crying, and he didn't move. He figured he'd fall asleep like that, with blood seeping out of his mouth from the would in his arm and dried tears on his face. Perhaps he would die of hypothermia or starvation and dehydration, because he couldn't remember the last time he'd eaten or drank anything. Taemin let his eyes slip shut, let his body cave in underneath him out of exhaustion. His arm came free of his jaw as he collapsed to the side and curled into a ball. He fell asleep just like that, with dried blood on his cheeks, dried tears on his jaw, and blue on his lips from the cold. He hoped someone would find him and take him to the hospital to get better, to have somewhere to go, but with the same amount of hope, he prayed he would never be found again.

I see that I'm not the only one who's suffering from lack of Jongtae fics :)

Anyway, this one sounds interesting :)
