Description

What will you do when the person that mattered to you the most suddenly disappears without a trace? What will you do to find that person? What will you say? What will you do to bring that person back? Are you willing to give up everything for that person? Is that person worth losing everything?

Foreword

“When I first arrived in this country, I thought it was the perfect place to start anew. This is the place where I can start over. I can relive my life again. I can finally move on. Later on when I have had everything I wanted, you came in to my life. Since the first moment I met you, I knew you were someone that I could not live without. It was then I knew, that for the first time in my entire life, I had loved someone more than myself. I loved you, the whole you. So, even though it was hard I tried my best to hold on to you. I tried my best to always be by your side, praying and hoping that you would realize my feelings. I prayed that one day you would feel what I am feeling and eventually love me. But, fate had a different plan. In one quick moment you were taken away from me. Then... you were lost forever.”

Prologue:

How could she do this to me?

On the day of our wedding…

Did she plan this all along?

Did she even want to get married?

I must be an idiot thinking she was the one.

Those were Han Geng’s thoughts when his fiancée suddenly disappeared on their wedding day. He and his girlfriend of five years had finally decided to get married. Everything was arranged for them. Both being the only heirs to their family’s multi-billion businesses no one opposed to their relationship. Everything was planned and done for them. They had the perfect relationship.

But I guess I was wrong.

Our relationship was doomed from the start.

Han Geng sat down on an empty seat near the altar and buried his face in his hands. He had been apologizing the whole day to everyone and tried his best to smile at the same time. Now that no one was around Han Geng felt that he could break down any minute. He thought of the reasons why his fiancée had to leave him without saying anything. He thought of the things that he had done wrong. He thought of things he should have done and what he should have not done.

I should have noticed it.

I should have noticed the things that had made her leave.

Then maybe I could have fixed it.

Then maybe…

We would have gone through with the wedding.

Maybe…

Han Geng had been holding back his tears and was about to finally give in when his parents came barging in the church doors. Han Geng closed his eyes and fought back his tears. He fixed his tuxedo and stood up to face his parents. They were still in their formal wear and were both upset.

“Han Geng! How could you let this happen?”

“I’m so embarrassed by all of this.”

“Find a way to fix this Han Geng. This is all you fault.”

“What are we going to say to the Yi Family? I don’t even know how to face them…”

“The media is already having a field day outside!”

“The company will be experiencing a major blow...”

“Our reputation will be ruined.”

“You fix this Han Geng! You fix this now!”

One after another his parents put the blame on him. They didn’t bother asking whether he was fine or what had gone wrong. They had to put the blame on someone and that someone happened to be Han Geng. They started to worry about the company and how the failed wedding would affect their relationship with the Yi family.

In the middle of their blaming and frantic accusations that it was all because of Han Geng did he find out the reason for his fiancée not appearing on the wedding day. They weren’t getting married because they loved each other. Rather, they were just doing what people had expected them to do.

No one asked for their opinion. No one cared to know if they truly loved each other or not. No one cared for them. It was always the company. It was their family. It was never just because of them. It was never because they loved each other.

Did I even love her?

Did she even love me?

Finally, Han Geng couldn’t take it anymore. Without saying anything or waiting for his parents to finish what they were saying, Han Geng walked out of the church. He now had a different mind-set. He now had a different view on what he had once defined as love.

Han Geng was left behind to cover everything up that day. That day was also the last that anyone had seen of Han Geng because on that day, Han Geng had disappeared forever.
