Perpetual Translucence

Description

     The year is 2023.

Kang Dongho has a mission. He also has to be sealed like a vault yet translucent at all times. The streets of Seoul on a Tuesday night at 10:15 p.m. welcome him like a long lost friend. The type of long lost friend you'd rather forget.

The silhouette of a man nearby delivers chills to his vertebrae. This is phase one of his mission. He must act quickly or risk the fibers of time and space falling apart, and all of civilization crumbling to a deplorable type of dust.

Foreword

Dongho stepped foot into the bar. Phase one.

"Order just a shot. Speak with the waitress for approxiamtely three minutes, then make eye contact with the subject," he thought, relaying the list in his head.

He completed two out of the three steps. Finally, he made eye contact. The male he looked at responded with a gaze of fear, but seemed to understand what was going on.

"Kang Dongho?" the man asked. Dongho nodded.

"And you are Kim Jonghyun, I presume."

"Yes. Now, I almost feel as if I should know why you're here, yet I'm not entirely sure. Would you care to clue me in?"

Dongho sighed. "Alright, but we have to be quiet about it. Are you sober?"

"I'm not exactly sure about my sobriety."

"Perfect. Just...brace yourself. That's all I have to say."

Jonghyun listened intently, his glass shattering on the floor with Dongho's last words.

"And, you need me?" he said, hands shaking.

"Yes, Kim Jonghyun. Without you, my mission will fail and all of history will be voided. Do you accept your role in this?"

Jonghyun nodded. "I do."

"Good. For safety now, you'll refer to me as Baekho," Dongho said.

"Do I get a code name, too?"
     "Yes, yes you do, JR."
