Part III

Bookworm

part three: where the pages end

 Silence.

 Solitude.

 Seclusion.

This was the status of Kim Taeyeon's library the next day. She didn't see a respectful guy patiently waiting outside holding her beloved books so tenderly. All she was greeted with was the emptiness of the hallway, what she was used to encountering with until Kyuhyun came.

It felt almost life-threatening without her seeing Kyuhyun roam the bookshelves. It was as if someone's presence can suddenly change one's life the second they're gone. Like stated before, Kim Taeyeon is branded to patterns. Seeing Kyuhyun quickly formed into a pattern and this sudden road bump was definitely messing with her mind.

"Where is he?" Taeyeon asked aloud, tapping her fingers furiously against her keyboard. It was already noon and she was just about to devour her peanut butter and banana sandwich. At this time Kyuhyun would be done picking out books and would wait for Taeyeon to finish her lunch.

He was so caring and patient, it was definitely her favorite feature about him. Not that she would admit it aloud - or at least to his face. She would be very annoyed by his smirking face if he ever heard word of what she adored the most about him, something contradicting to his arrogant ego.

"Oh my god! Sorry for intruding on your make-out session!" Soojung shouted, walking into the library pretending to close her eyes as if she knew she was intruding on something. The only thing she interrupted was Taeyeon's reverie on Kyuhyun, but she wasn't sure if that was a good or bad thing. Nonetheless, Taeyeon laughed wildly at her intern - who was obviously disappointed to see the head librarian sitting diligently at her desk.

 "Nice try Jung."

"Aww. I missed him already?" Soojung asked in distress. Taeyeon shook her head which caused the younger to gasp. "But didn't he say he'd come by today?"

"Yeah. But I have no way to contact him either." Taeyeon sighed.

"Well what about his library card application?"

"What?" she asked, suddenly sitting upright in curiosity.

"Doesn't the library card application have all his contact information?" Soojung elaborated. "You know, just in case a book is overdue." Taeyeon's orbs suddenly brightened, as if she was blind and now she regained eyesight. She jumped out of her desk chair to hug Soojung in thanks. The latter couldn't help but hug back, it was definitely an accomplishment to help on a journey of love. "Oh wait!" she recalled, suddenly letting go of her senior. "Have you checked any of the books he turned in?"

"What?" she repeated, brushing her bangs out of her hair.

"He left like seven notes in seven books. I didn't read them, but if you haven't seen them, you should."

"Oh my gosh, Jung Soojung, you are my savior of love!" Taeyeon exclaimed, bringing back her intern into another hug. Soojung wiggled out and just grinned.

"Anything for a good college recommendation," she winked as she walked out the door. Before Taeyeon could scold her, she raised her hand into a v pose and giggled. "Joking!"

Kyuhyun looked up at his bedroom ceiling, sighing helplessly. He was still in his plaid pajamas and hadn't even move a budge. It was like his old university days, the days he'd slack off and just spend the afternoon deep in thought.

"I wonder what Taeyeon's doing." he asked, moving his head to his bedside clock. It was already 3 PM and Kyu hadn't even eaten. He was in the mood for a peanut butter and banana sandwich, but was too lazy to get out of bed.

Kyuhyun felt so distraught for falling over Kim Taeyeon's spell. He made his experience to libraries worthwhile with her childish attitude, and led him on to believing she was going to kiss him when they got interrupted by her intern. If she really liked him she would've kissed him right after. If she really liked him she would've shooed off her intern and continue her extended lunch break. If she really liked him he wouldn't be stuck in his one room condo acting as if he just died inside.

It's been a while since a girl - woman - has made him feel like this. The last person to make his heart swoon was the Chinese foreign exchange gymnast Victoria Song at Kyunghee during his sophomore year. When they went out she constantly called him Giu Xian, which is his name in Chinese. It was pretty peculiar, and their lack of communication in Korean was definitely a factor in their break up (and she was cheating on him with a female dance teacher), she was still really special to Kyuhyun.

But obviously Taeyeon didn't have any feelings for Kyuhyun. She was just playing a game with him during that lunch date yesterday and Kyu just felt horrible. He was going to get over it, yes, but if he wants to be a literature professor any time soon, he'd have to visit that specific library even more often. Which meant seeing her even more often. Which meant getting his heart torn even more often.

"I'm such an emotional mess," Kyuhyun complained, slamming a nearby pillow onto his face. Suddenly the doorbell rang, causing Kyuhyun to groan as he lazily picked himself out of bed and open the door.

Usually when you answer the door, you expect a person to be there right? Well a stack of books were laid in front of him. But not just any books, they were books from the library. Kyuhyun couldn't help but smirk as he picked up the first book, Ultraviolet, his favorite book from the bundle he checked out on the first day. Opening the cover, he saw his plain yellow post it note still sticking to the first page.

Day 1:
Today I met a beautiful librarian named Kim Taeyeon. Well not really met, more like encountered. I helped her reach a bookshelf since her height obliges to even meet it. If you are reading this Taeyeon, I can't help but feel some sort of attraction to you. I must warn you though, I will try my best to get you interested in me aswell. - 조규현

Before Kyuhyun could close the book, he noticed a bright purple post it note directly below it.

Day 1:
Today I met a devilishly handsome bookworm named Cho Kyuhyun. Well not necessarily met, more just like saw. I helped him make a library card because he just moved in from town. When you read this Kyuhyun, you'll realize I felt this same sort of attraction between us. I must warn you though, I am hard to get, so take your best shot. - 김태안

Kyuhyun's heart began thumping as he read through the other notes, Taeyeon perfectly reinventing his note structure and being even wittier than his own words. However, it was really the last note that changed Kyuhyun the most.

Day 7:
Today I will ask you out for lunch - actually, I'll force you so deal with it. I'm tired of your peanut butter and banana sandwiches and you just simply have to go out on a date. Hopefully by the time you read this we're possibly ... you know ... a couple. Because ... you know ... I like you. >.< - 조규현

Kyuhyun frowned at the dorkiness of his letter. Was he really that nervous when writing that letter? What a wimp. Kyuhyun's arrogance was suddenly fading from a girl and now she's doing all the romantic things? Disappointing. But enough about him, he still had one more note to read.

Day 7:
Today you asked me out for lunch, actually yanked me out of my library sanctuary. How are you even tired of something you don't eat yourself? Peanut butter and banana sandwiches are the best, deal with it. Anyways, (hopefully) by the time you read this you'll realize that ... you know ... oh never mind forget it. ;p - 김태안

"'Never mind forget it'?" Kyuhyun repeated in shock. Dropping the book to the ground he noticed Kim Taeyeon appear in front of him. Before he could even register her presence she spoke.

"You said you were going to see me today, right?" she asked teasingly. Kyuhyun, however, wasn't in the mood for a witty conversation at the moment.

"If your whole plan was to embarrass me then it definitely work. I'm not in the mood for games right now." Kyuhyun replied, about to close the door.

 "I just wanted to apologize."

"There's no need to apologize." he countered.

"I like you!" she blurted out, causing him to stop the door in his tracks. "Wasn't all those notes in response to yours enough to prove it?"

"I'm not as thoughtful as you pursued." he snorted, rolling his eyes. Taeyeon simply smiled and got up on her toes to kiss Kyuhyun deeply on his lips.

"I really doubt that bookworm." she whispered, her lips just millimeters away from the ones she just kissed.

The next day Taeyeon found her favorite bookworm outside her library, carrying all the books she dropped at his place the day before.

As she walked towards the entrance she got up on her toes to peck him quickly on the lips and opened the door.

"You do realize that you destroyed library property." she teased as she entered her sanctuary, looking behind to her man.

"You did too!" he argued. Taeyeon stopped in her tracks and winked.

 "But I'm the librarian."

 "But I'm the librarian's boyfriend."

"No, you're Kim Taeyeon's boyfriend." she corrected, pointing her finger at his nose and grabbing the library books from his grasp.

"So then does that mean I'm cheating on Kim Taeyeon with the librarian?" he questioned, walking into the bookshelves before she could speak to him any longer. Taeyeon just laughed as she retreated into her desk, admirably staring at her boyfriend scanning the bookshelves.

Eventually he finished his selection of books for the night and kissed Taeyeon on the lips, cupping her chin, before handing her the books.

Needless to say, all his books were surrounded by romance.
