Sweater Weather

Sweater Weather

Jimin was not the type to appreciate winter and all it’s chilling experiences it brings. Nor was he the type to enjoy what winter has in store, despite his usually positive demeanor. This might be  because of the case  that he spends way too much time in wifebeaters and sleeve-less shirts (in which he responds they are the easiest to dance in and bring much more comfort; ignoring that fact that he certainly wants to show off his muscled arms) but nevertheless he could never understand why anyone in the entire world would even accept the crisp cold bitter hours that are winter days. He was certainly more of a summer person.

That was until he met Min Yoongi.

He was walking home on a especially cold day after hours in the dance studio at his college. He had hoped that, returning home after working himself to a sweat would warm him up, but his plan obviously backfired as he cursed at himself walking along the street. This was not what he wanted to happen. Cold… soooooo cold. I need to remind myself to stay in the heat at all times possible. He saw a little coffee shop on the side of the road and instead of proceeding back into his apartment his went inside.

There was only a few people in the little cafe, possibly no more than 7. He walked up to the counter and as he wanted for the cashier he then glanced at the menu, hoping for something to warm him up on his travels back home. There was a variety of coffees and lattes he could possible choose from, but he wanted to make it to his heated home soon as possible.

“...How may I help you?” Jimin looked away from the screen and had to practically stop himself drooling in front of the handsome barista. The said person looked as if he could only be a few years older than him, or even close to his age since he was only about a few inches taller than himself. He had a black snapback hat on that said SUGA on the front, and from what he could see he had slightly curly black tuffs of hair coming out of his hat. Judging from his eyes Jimin could tell this boy had a huge eye smile, one that would instantly make his heart warm, even though he wasn’t sure why he was feeling this way for someone he just met.

“Sir?” The barista’s eye smile slowly lessened as his eyes turned confused at the frozen Jimin standing in front of him. Jimin realized he was acting freakish and decided he needed to get his act together.

“Ahh sorry about that! I was just thinking about what I should order hehehe…” Jimin wanted to facepalm himself real hard by now. Why can’t you just order your drink and leave, you need to get home. “ Why don’t you just give me the best coffee you have to offer here, since I don’t know exactly what to get?”

The barista then put a hand up in front of Jimin as if to say, I’m a professional, let me show you a real drink, and worked his magic with the machine. Jimin sat down at a nearby table while waiting for his drink to come and was surprised to not only find the two drinks in the older boy’s hands but too see him sit down in the seat across from him. Before Jimin could even ask the older spoke.

“I saw you sitting by yourself while waiting for you drink and since I’m on break I decided why the not,” he smirked, “besides now I get to tell you how kick this coffee truly is and watch you be amazed.”

And he was amazed. But not just by the coffee, which was magically delicious, but he was amazed by the person he was getting to meet. They spent 20 minutes learning about each other. He learned that the Barista was Min Yoongi, or Suga as he liked to be called in the underground scene, he was working at the shop, as a part time job, as he majors in composing so that he make himself a big name rapper in the future. Jimin shared his love for dance and how he was going to school for dancing staying after for hours just so he could perfect his moves. It was as if they had knew each other for years because they clicked together right away. But what seemed like hours of talking had to end as Yoongi had to get back to work.

“Ahh it seems like my break time is up. I don’t want my boss to kick my for taking another long break again,” Yoongi stood up and straightened his apron trying his best to look “professional” although the hat was going to stay.

“Oh. Yeah right. I have to get home, it’s a shame I have to go through the cold streets to go home. I despise the winter so much.” Jimin sighed as he began to put his jacket on preparing for the Artic storm that was outside.

“Oh really you hate winter? I mean, I understand you mean. Winter really ing , but in some ways you can learn to appreciate it.” Jimin couldn’t help but laugh at the statement Yoongi was trying to say. Appreciate winter? Hell no, how is that even possible? There was no way someone could. Nonetheless the two said their goodbyes and just as Jimin left he heard the warming voice say “Come back again okay? I’ll save you from the bitter freezing days.”

And Jimin did, in fact he came back practically everyday, sacrificing his days that he could be in his warm cozy home so that he could spend time with Yoongi and talk to him during his shift. They had even gotten to the habit of walking home together since they went similar directions, both hoping that their presences would warm each other on the coldest of days. This way Jimin got to learn even more about Yoongi, and he was even able to hear some of his raps, and learn about his other friends. One thing that never left his mind however was how Yoongi could even slightly like winter.

That was till about one month later.

It was the coldest day of the week and Jimin was planning the usual, dancing in the studio till everyone left and then meeting Yoongi so that they could have coffee and walk home together, it was become a routine he enjoyed. That was until while he was packing up, he saw his jacket was amiss. He searched furiously in the studio because there was no way in hell he was going out in that weather with nothing on. But when it became evident that he wasn’t going to find it he knew he was going to have to go out there in the cold like this. However he decided it was best if he jogged all the way hoping his sweat would keep him warm enough.

“What the are you doing out there with absolutely nothing on but  a wifebeater?” Yoongi said as he handed exhausted Jimin the coffee clearly not caring about using profanity in front of others, something Jimin thought was hilarious.

“N-no… time to explain, let me just warm up. Please…” Jimin gasped, slumping onto the chair sipping his coffee. Yoongi waited until the boy wasn’t dying until he asked for the story about the incident in the dance studio, something he thought was unfortunate for Jimin but at the same time cute.

Jimin stayed in the cafe till Yoongi’s shift was over fearing for his life that he would get frostbite if he went outside. But apparently Yoongi was positive there was nothing to worry about. Still Jimin was hesitate and just stood by the door as Yoongi walked towards. Suddenly Yoongi draped his jacket over the both of them and kicked the door open to let them out.

“What are you doing hyung, you don’t have to do this,” Jimin protested although he secretly desired the closeness they had with each other right now. It was something Jimin had wanted for a long time. Yoongi however just said nothing as they walked down the street. Until he did something that made Jimin’s heart want to stop but not because of the cold.

“Put your hands here,” Yoongi breathed out as he pointed to the sleeved of his sweater. Jimin was too cold to protest and silently agreed and placed his hands inside. “You can’t do this in the summer ya know? You only have the winter to have this kind of closeness with someone.” Jimin couldn’t help but blush at the statement. Simultaneously  they both got closer together walking together, making the space between them nonexistant.

Jimin finally understood why people liked winter.
