Cheated

Cheated

Zhou Mi and Kyuhyun didn't remember how they met.

Kyuhyun thought it was at a mutual friend's party; Zhou Mi thought it was at a bar. All they knew was that there was alcohol involved and when they woke up the next morning they were in the same bed- and with a hangover.

Both of them had a policy of leaving drunken stranger at just that, but this time was different. After numerous hints from the universe and them running into each other six and a half times Kyuhyun decided to ask Zhou Mi out; no alcohol involved.

A couple more dates and a few more drinks later they ended up the same way they had started; in the same bed, and with a hangover.

"We should make this a regular thing." Kyuhyun had suggested as they haphazardly dressed the next morning.

"Are you asking me to be your boyfriend?" Zhou Mi questioned, shrugging on the now crumpled jacket he had worn the night before.

"Are you saying yes?" Kyuhyun retorted, and that was that.

They were good for each other and it did become a regular thing-minus the hangover. Zhou Mi had moved to Korea to get away from his family and became a librarian at the nearby college. Kyuhyun found it amusing that the man worked with Korean books, but had issues with the language. Kyuhyun worked in the video game store where he spent hours talking to kids about star craft. Zhou Mi liked to joke that he got kids to study, while Kyuhyun distracted them; they completed a viscous cycle.

Zhou Mi was happy being with Kyuhyun, and Kyuhyun was happy being with Zhou Mi. They would have gotten their happily ever after too, if it weren't for a kid named Henry Lau.

Henry was a student at the college and he spent hours in the library. Zhou Mi noticed his constant presence and decided to make friends. He wasn't that much older than Henry and he learned that while Henry was from Canada, he also spoke Mandarin. The two got close quickly and soon enough Zhou Mi was staying later to help Henry with some project or paper.

Kyuhyun wasn't blind, and he noticed his lover's absences. After two weeks of Zhou Mi being home late from work he decided to go after him. He snuck into the library around eleven at night and after ten minutes of searching he found Zhou Mi; locked in a private study room, Henry bent over the desk with his pants around his ankles.

Kyuhyun didn't say anything, simply closed the door on two stunned faces and left the library. When he got home he packed up his few belongings and left their shared apartment for good. When he knocked on Sungmin's door that night his best friend let him in and threw a pillow and blanket on the couch for him without asking questions. Kyuhyun ended up in his bed anyway, curled up in his arms and bawling his eyes out.

When Zhou Mi finally got the courage to go back to the apartment he saw Kyuhyun's empty drawers and knew that the relationship was over with as few words as had started it.

Kyuhyun stayed with Sungmin for awhile. Eventually though, he had had enough of trying to sleep on the couch while he listened to him have with his boyfriend, Eunhyuk. It didn't take him long to find a small apartment in a part of the city that was far enough away from where Zhou Mi lived.

He avoided Zhou Mi and anything to do with him. He didn't go to the places he went with Zhou Mi, avoided walking by where they used to live together even if he had to make a long detour. He never went any closer to the school where Zhou Mi worked than he had to get to his job at the video game store. Eventually his memory of Zhou Mi started to fade, but the empty hole of broken trust still ate away at his heart.

It was on his way home from work one night that Kyuhyun first saw Ryeowook. He was sitting on a bench on a busy corner, playing his guitar and singing lowly. People had started to gather around him, and some threw money into the open guitar case that sat before him. Kyuhyun didn't stop; he saw Ryeowook but he didn't bother to really notice him.

The next night Ryeowook was on the same street corner, playing his guitar. It was a different song though, a more upbeat one this time and the people watching him were tapping their feet along with the beat of it. Kyuhyun still didn't bother to stop.

On the third night that Kyuhyun was walking home and passed by Ryeowook, he noticed him. The song he was playing caught his ear, it was oddly familiar. He stopped to listen and finally he recognized the lyrics. It was an older song, and had been one of his favorites in high school. He started singing along softly, his voice barely more than a whisper. When Ryeowook finished playing he looked up and met Kyuhyun's gaze.

"You know this song? It is one of my favorites." He said with a friendly smile and Kyuhyun couldn't help but smile back.

"Yeah, it is one of my favorites too."

"I'm Ryeowook." Ryeowook extended his hand and Kyuhyun took it.

"Kyuhyun."

Kyuhyun thought that this man should be an angel or something. He just had this aura about him that made him feel at ease, as though nothing was wrong with the world because he was with this man. It had been awhile since he had felt comfortable and at peace with the world, and this man made him at ease again with one song and a few friendly words.

"You don't have a bad voice, are you a singer?" Ryeowook asked.

"No, I work in a video game store. What about you? You seem pretty talented, do you sing professionally or is this your job?" Kyuhyun didn't mean it to sound judgmental, but he was pretty sure it came out that way.

Ryeowook didn't seem to take offense to it though as he laughed a little before answering.

"I actually work in a bank, music is my passion though and I do this for fun. Plus, the little extra cash I get doesn't hurt."

"Oh, sorry." Kyuhyun said, embarrassed by his question.

"It's OK. Hey, would you like to get some dinner with me? I'm starving and I would love some company." Ryeowook asked and for some reason Kyuhyun found himself nodding and following Ryeowook to a nearby cafe.

That was how it started, and they didn't start seeing each other regularly right after that. Instead, Kyuhyun would sometimes see Ryeowook sitting on that same street corner, playing his guitar. He wasn't there every night, and Kyuhyun didn't always stop when he was there either. On occasion though, he would stop to talk and sometimes they would go have dinner or a drink together.

Kyuhyun liked Ryeowook, or at least he liked being with him. The small man made him feel at ease and he had completely forgotten about Zhou Mi. He had forgotten, that is, until a boy Kyuhyun would never forget walked into the video game store he worked at with a group of friends.

He knew that Henry recognized him too because as soon as they made eye contact his face fell. Henry quietly excused himself from his friends and went to wait outside. Kyuhyun couldn't help but follow him.

"You filthy little ." He spat out as he drug Henry down the alley near the store and pushed him against the brick wall.

"I-I'm sorry! I didn't know he had a boyfriend." Henry stuttered, fear in his eyes as Kyuhyun lifted him off the ground slightly.

"Sure you didn't. I bet you just enjoy ing any older, taken man you can get your hands on. That's your thing, isn't it? I can see you as a , you are too cute." Kyuhyun cursed under his breath some as Henry failed at forming words and his hands tried to pry off Kyuhyun's.

"I should beat the crap out of you for stealing my boyfriend." Kyuhyun spat as he brought a fist back.

Henry's eyes closed and just as he was about to hit him a familiar voice called out his name quietly. When Kyuhyun turned he saw Ryeowook standing at the end of the alley, guitar case in his hands and a slight fear in his eyes.

"Kyuhyun." He repeated, a little more loudly this time.

Immediately Kyuhyun felt himself relax, the ease that Ryeowook always put him in falling over him again. He let go of Henry, who ran away as soon as his feet hit the ground. Kyuhyun took a few, deep breaths to calm himself before he approached Ryeowook who just looked at him with curious eyes.

"How about we get a drink." Ryeowook suggested as he put his guitar case in one hand and picked up Kyuhyun's hand with the other, dragging him to a nearby bar.

"My boyfriend cheated on me with him." Kyuhyun finally said.

They had been sitting in silence for a good while. Ryeowook had never asked him what had happened, but the question was there, lingering in his eyes and Kyuhyun felt as though he just had to answer.

Ryeowook didn't say anything, just looked at him with understanding eyes. Kyuhyun looked down at his beer and smiled; it was so weird how he could be so angry one minute and then at ease the next.

"Has anyone told you that you are beautiful, especially when you smile?" Ryeowook asked and Kyuhyun looked up to be met by a sly grin. He chuckled a little at the change in topic.

"No." He answered honestly.

"Well you are." Ryeowook said with a grin and reached out to give Kyuhyun's hand a squeeze. When he went to pull away, Kyuhyun held on.

"I think I may be in love with you." Kyuhyun said it first.

They were lying on the couch in Kyuhyun's apartment, Ryeowook had his head in his lap as they watched a movie. Ryeowook sat up and turned to look at him, his eyes searching Kyuhyun's face to see if he was lying or not.

"Really?" Ryeowook couldn't help but sound surprised.

He knew what had happened with Zhou Mi, and had learned that Kyuhyun was a pretty closed off person. He hadn't expected for Kyuhyun to say it first, and they had only been together for two months.

"Really. You make me happy and calm me down when I am angry. Plus, look at you-you're beautiful. How can I not fall in love with someone as amazing as you?" Kyuhyun said and kissed Ryeowook's forehead gently.

He couldn't help it, Ryeowook started laughing. He laughed so hard his eyes closed and his stomach hurt. When he was done Kyuhyun looked at him with pain in his eyes.

"I love you too; and I really wish I could have recorded that because it was so cheesy! I can't believe you of all people said that. You, Cho Kyuhyun, are a hopeless romantic and you can't deny it." Ryeowook said with a knowing smirk. Kyuhyun pouted, it wasn't as cute as he wanted it to be but it was cute none the less.

"I can't believe I tell you how I feel and you laugh at me, you are the worst boyfriend ever!" Kyuhyun cried and attempted to pout more, failing miserably.

Ryeowook laughed again before he leaned in to kiss Kyuhyun; partly because it would shut him up and partly because he wouldn't have to look at the hideousness that was his boyfriend trying to act cute. Mostly, though, it was because he wanted to.
